Yeah, the shadow beating ("Kage Kisshin," I believe) and the massive hand crush (Kage Asshou) were never used in the manga. The shadow beating can be explained off, because after the time jump Shika can move his shadow off of the ground, and the crush is just a larger version of what he did to Tayuya.
