  • Never worked out what this was supposed to have to do with mods?

  • I remember that heel toe bounce dance as well from my Primary School Qualifying Dance in Christmas 1984. A memorable year! I remember the teachers had the time of their lives teaching us this dance & others too! X

  • Reminds me of school. Heel toe heel toe heel toe heel toe bounce bounce 1-2-3

  • Perfect song to have sex to. Just the right speed. Found that out at Butlins in the 60's.

  • WHY THE FUCK IS THIS THE MARCH OF THE MODS???

  • THIS WAS VERY MUCH A "PARTY TUNE" REMEMBER THIS WAS PLAYED IN ONE OF THE MANY ENTERTAINMENT VENUES AT BUTLINS CLACTON (IS NO LONGER AROUND) IN THE SUMMER OF 1966 - WAS A GOOD SONG TO DANCE TO (THAT IT HAD ITS OWN "SPECIAL DANCE" - BIT LIKE THE "GAP BANDS "OOPS UPSIDE YOUR HEAD", OTHER LIKE IT)

  • I have this record on the MFP LP Joe Loss Plays Your All Time Party Hits and this Lp is live as there is applase between tracks the lp is MFP 5572

  • TOOOOOOOR FÜR DEN GAK UND WIR FEIERN DEN TORSCHÜTZEN MIT DER NUMMER 28 ROOOOOOOOOOOOLI KOLLMANN!!!

  • TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR für den GAK!!!!! :D

  • rooot und weeeeiß ein leben lang!!!

  • @Mad826 "Mad" you may be, but you obviously weren't a "Mod" in the 60s when this was in the damned pop charts!

It's the JOE LOSS ORCHESTRA for Christ's sake!

  • @ spinny2010 .... I have a sense of humour, but my personal comment as I do detest this tune ! Yet for some strange reason, its quite catchy pmsl !!!

  • thats only your opinion, and opinions are like arseholes-we've all got one, regards

  • Great energy - Really super.

  • shite of the highest order

  • LEMMINGS!!!

  • Dreadful song! About as Mod as Trad Jazz!

  • Coooo eck! When I was in the Brownies, my Brown Owl taught us a little dance routine to this! I'm a mod now, but this song really isn't very Mod at all! Fond memories. :-D

  • Big golden on me boat now mate...how can anybody not like this?

  • Im a Mad mod and I love it!

  • The last thing a lemming hears before it explodes

  • Reminds me of Butlins as a kid in the 70's .. a bell would ring and you'd queue up for sausage n mash. It was like a carry on film ..lol Couldn't imagine real Mods bein into this. Just a bit of nostalgia. Thanks for posting : )

  • i THREATENED TO PUT O, SUPERMAN ON THE WHALLEY PUB'S JUKEBOX AFTER THE COMMENTS I GOT FOR PUTTING THS AND THEY'RE COMING TO TAKE ME AWAY ON FOR PUTTING THIS ON.

  • I'm also a MOD who detests this song!!

  • MADNESS SHOULD COVER THIS!!!!

  • UP THERE WITH ONE STEP BEEEEYYYYOOOOND!!!!

  • Rebel racin.com

  • A gauranteed floor filler!

  • I remember dancing to this . great fun.

  • my god i have this single i used to jump around to it when i was a kid....

  • It was penned by a Greaser!

  • This tune always ever so slightly reminds me of the Addam's Family theme tune.

  • Just before my time, but this captures social history of our country. Brilliant

  • Makes a great ska cover though. Slow it down and give it loads of ribbits and stuff. You think this is bad, get a load of whistling Jack Smith then, fucking awful.

  • Famous tune that most people never knew the name of or where it came from.

Don't think they really knew what a Mod was, though.

  • Lemmings THEME XD

  • I am a MOD and I fookin detest this tune !!!!!!

  • @DeeDeeMod41 Where's your sense of humour?

  • @spinny2010

Believe it or not, I had this song on 7" record when I had my hi-fi back in the early 1990's. 1991 to 1999.

  • @DeeDeeMod41 You're *supposed* to hate the tune... it was written to take the piss out of your swagger ;-)

  • I am a MOD and I fookin detest this tune !!!!!!

  • Und der GAK geht mit eeeeeins zu null in Führung :D

  • p.s ....It came out on the 5th november 1964 got to number 31 in the charts and sayed in the charts of 3 weeks!

  • pirate bbc essex used this as one off there themes!!!

  • Me and my son were watching GAK v Boro on the t.v. It was great to here March of the Mods being played. My son who was 10 at the time started singing 'We're Cheering on England'. We made this into a song which was played on Virgin radio in 2006.. It's on You Tube. Just type in 'We're cheering on England'. Thanks GAK and Joe Loss!

  • Mods were tossers on hairdryers

  • 4 ever GAK

  • Everytime G A K (The one and only soccerteam from Graz / Austria founded 18.08.1902) scores, this tune is played in the stadium. Supporters from FC Middlesbrough laughed at us for this ;)

  • @heimleita whole graz laughes about you

  • @19hary09 whole graz laughs about your english;)

  • @heimleita lol, everytime I hear this song I remember a commentator shouting "GAK are right back in this UEFA Cup tie" and that was the Middlesboro match -a few years ago now!

  • @heimleita "soccerteam" ^^ LOL

  • @heimleita darum sind wir auch 3 mal so oft meister geworden gell ;)

  • great tune

  • lol my dad was at that fight at brighton...great tune

  • This was played at the start of every banger race at Harringay, back in the 1970's.

  • Go home bill and March of the vummins are decent tracks on the EP.

  • I always remember this record, since Butlins Clacton 1964 when my friend said that it was the best record to have sex to !! He must of had plenty of stamina.

Funny how you remember things. !!

  • @1ALJAY LOL he must have had some rhythm!

  • call me what you like mate. it's still a crap record,

    hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • @daddydelboy totally agree with you!

  • @daddydelboy It is without doubt a crap record. I think that's why I like it. Sort of like Rock and Roll Waltz.

  • i'm dancing to this at my year 11 ball! so much fun!

  • This record was crap when it came out in 1964 and is still crap.

Joe Loss (dead loss) was to the adult population (the establishment) the acceptable face of popular music at the time.

Nobody under thirty bothered with it, let along bought the cheap L.P.s that were recorded by him and his orchestra with such titles as "Joe Loss plays the top twenty."

Bit like Tom Jones singing to trance

  • @daddydelboy wanker..........

  • my old man was a Mod but i have to admit i probably would've been a greaser given my love of Rockabilly, riding fast & Triumph 'Bonnies'!

  • Aged only 2 when this tune was about, I had no choice other than to be a 'Mod' now I am pushing 50 , by choice I am a 'Mod' Just love this tune x x

  • Hey Sids60sSounds.

Cant you get TANGO 65!!! Great Joe Loss

    Tank You

  • brill stuff used to dance around the dance to this at the north wales holiday camp in abergele mid 60s to early 70s such fun

  • i used to dance to this with a load of mods oh how young i was lol

  • Great pictures.

  • They use this tune for bingo now.

  • great times,Tritons, Nortons,Lambrettas,vespas

  • I would probably have been a mod in the 60's.

  • GAK Tormelodie :D

  • I'd forgotten all about this music. I can vaguely remember doing the dance that went with it. Everybody went round the dance floor in a big circle. There was one bit where you jumped forward with your feet together then jumped back again then took four steps forward. I hated doing it as a kid because I wanted to be a rocker and thought that all mods were poofs. I still do.

  • GREAT SONG

  • ah tears of childhood memories being made to dance to this as a kid ...whole family had a special dance routine for this!! thanks Sid

  • GAK forever

  • oh my god i am young again and still a mod at heart i danced my youth away to this and yes I had scooter an orange one thought I was really something
