  • i find this pattern a bit hard to remember lol. i kept swapping the moves and all lol.

im gonna fail my grading lol

  • I didn't realize a watch is part of the tkd uniform...

  • @missemo1000 me 2

  • esra buena esta forma ja yo soy cinto amarillo y me se asta esta jajajaja

  • This is the pattern i'm on.

  • !!!POLSKA!!!

  • polska dance :)

  • este tul es dificil

  • Two days ago, I've won the National Championships with Joong-Gun as my pattern of choice. This video helped a lot, since I have my blue tag and was still learning this. But now I'm looking this video once again and it makes the way I execute the pattern look a bit crappy XD But I thank you for uploading such a great video and helping me win first prize ^^

  • im just a yellow belt.. no stripes yet.. doing Dan-Gun

  • @IPlayFootball12 im a yellow stripe and i know all the patterns up to blue belt and 3 step sparring up to green belt and a bunch of advanced kicks like 540 turning kick, jumping high snap kick and so on.

  • Doing a 5 hour seminar with Mr suska is one i shall never forget

    (Master Jedut was also there)

  • guys i need help, i got up to a blue tag in itf taekwondo.

then moved country and had to do wtf taekwondo and got up to red belt.(patterns are different there)

when I went back my teacher gave me a blue tag again! so if i don't do something I will be stuck at blue belt for a long time....

  • cool man

    \

  • Great patterns but kill the music it takes away from it... it makes it really tacky :)

  • @HunterCooley i think the music makes it mysterious yet cool :D, u can always mute it =)

  • you sir, are a genious at patterns, each pattern has been performed to absolute perfection

  • He is a national patters champ u dumb ass , we do it a little diff in rhee tkd but u can still c his skill and no shit it looks like hes not trying if he did it hard and fast how the fuck u meant to learn from it

  • Blue belt e.e

  • joooooon! :D

  • Very good!

  • i guessnhis sidekicks are good but he looks like hes on a traampoline and cant keep a low stance! the first move is a cat stance not a frontkick! he has no form at all! where i do taekwondo its way better and we actually try!!!!!!!

  • @nailpolish215 What rank are you? By your answer I'd judge you to be a colored belt still. The "trampoline" effect you mention is called sine wave and this man is an expert at it. The first movement (the ridgehand) is executed in a back stance. The cat stance comes after the front kick. I would watch some other videos and educate yourself a bit before criticizing this man. Most of us could only hope to attain the level of controlled technique he's demonstrating here. Kudos to him!

  • Anybody else notice the watch on his left hand?

  • @sb9715 yes. perhaps he needed to keep track of time.

anyone else notice his doesnt close his fists when he punches?

  • Just started learning this pattern today! Its a big step up from Won-Yho for sure! Some tricky new stances and techniques :) ... Ill get it mastered soon enough! :) ... This guy's form is fantastic and I have found all his video's very useful :)

  • @rck1203 Won Hyo =)

Did you not have to do Yul Gok before this?

  • This is the pattern im on now... And its frustrating lol Ill get there in the end. And cheers for all the prior vids they have helped muchly

  • I was always having some trouble learning patterns during the short amount of time we have in class. I have to say that....since I started watching Mr. Souska, I've been winning golds at all my competitions. Thank you sir!!

  • This is my current pattern. I watch Jaroslaw Trulshotvedt on each pattern I have learned. Some of the moves are different but it is interesting to see the variation. He is the best! Also pretty nice looking.....

  • @cchmccord its jaroslaw suska

  • This is my current pattern.

  • @MrMusicMan4567 same just done my grading and no doin it

  • You are mutch beter than our master and he have 8 dan!

  • I'm going to get 5 dan to day.....SO COOL

  • Good techniques, I'm havig my Red Stripe Grading soon, (Il live in Britain)

  • Wow... I have my second dan test in about 16 days...watching him REALLY helps me study! thanks alot!

  • @djwaltzerraveman the music comes from the Native American disc of an album called "The Spirit of Global Chillout"

  • Hopefully i remeber tht wish me luck 4 today

  • I'm doing ITF, but i have heard that WTF have full contact in the fights at training, is this true? Also, I'm going up to 2.Gup this sunday :) but I don't remember the pattern very well and I suck at the questions we get :/ tips anyone?

  • I do itf and if you are warid about ppl geting better than you just bye watching a vid then you arnt traning anuf

  • The punches in walking stance are high and the punches in fixed stance are middle. By the ITF taekwondo was made an official art in 1955.

  • musik name plz whats called

  • Comment removed

  • hes doing a semiar in june in ireland.cant fecking wait to go to it

  • Testing for red tomorrow. So nervous. going over a few details. Nice work, but isn't it supposed to be a middle punch?

  • @RSMoneymakerRS ya they are all middle punches :D

  • @RSMoneymakerRS How did it go? I'm wondering since I'm testing for red this saturday and was wondering if you could give me some tips :)

  • All very good. =) Testing for red tomorrow. Real nervous, studying joong gun right now. Theres a few fine details I need to go over. Wish me luck! By the way, isn't it supposed to be a middle punch? In my school it is.

  • I really loved this form when I was learning it, now I absolutely cannot stand it, it is very annoying...hehe ^.^ Just remember, Practice doesn't make perfect; sloppy practice makes sloppy work, perfect practice makes perfect work.

  • @YoungMangaka Well said! =)

  • The fast motion grasp-breaking action (not sure on the name of it) with the punch and the low stance are the only things I'm having trouble with. Any help with going from walking stance to low stance?

  • Isn't some of these techniques a bit off, I mean, with the new regulations and stuff? For example the Digutja makgi, shouldn't his hands "rest" in a different position? And when he glides out in nachuo sogi, that's a new regulation there too?

Hope someone posts new videos with the new regulations!

  • hes god do bot . isn't he suppose to suppress hes thumb as tight into the palm of the hand as much as possible?

as my understanding is that the Sonkal Dung kaunde bakkuro makgi" is not the same as hand shape as a normal "sonkal makgi"!!?

  • Who is the Sabón and where is he from?

  • well demonstrated , manythanks for the sabum.

  • OMG it sounds like sound effects from a video game when ppl hit eachother! :DD its just too coooool >.<

  • Thanks to Mr. Suska and his club. These videos are crucial tools to helping with all my patterns! Alternate perspectives are always helpful in diversifying your own perception of the patterns.

  • im doing this for a grade next month :) wish me luck :D

  • i can poomse form 1-3 and hyong 1-3!!

  • ITF is the original Tk-D created by General Choi Hong Hi himself

  • I just had my ITF Taekwon-Do Blue Belt grading tonight. Unfortunately, I had to perform it in front of the whole class; my nerves just got the better of me. I know I still have a lot to learn, but I wish I was a bit more confident in doing my patterns in front of people. This patterns if very well done, smooth and fluent. I can't wait to learn this pattern - looks a bit of a challenge, but fun.

  • hey. i think your great. i do the same thing at WMAA. im only 10 and i am a high brown belt.

  • hey. i think your great. i do the same thing at WMAA. im only 10 and i am a high brown belt.

  • TheEpicBingHater@ are you talking about the upwards elbow strike close to the start of the patten ?

maybe if you add time fram of part vid with the question might be more helpfull ;)

  • Comment removed

  • This is very well performed indeed, particularly bare feet on a rubbery gym floor the sliding motions are very tricky to do. The green line on the floor is a great guide and gives you a good reference line.

  • at the end....was that a Bo block?...

  • @TheEpicBingHater yes. it blocks bo stick. mongdung-i magki

  • im a red-black belt and when i was learning Joong Gun i learned something different...after the first and second kicks therez supposed to be a press?...and his sidekicks are amazing, but he really could work on the the technique because even though his moves are powerful, he lacks a proper stance and technique.

  • @TheEpicBingHater lol yeah he does have a weak stance(s) lol but as for the form you have adiffernt teacher and are most likely from a differnt federation. different federations have different forms...usually. both ur way and his are correct...saying that you can do joong gun now.

  • @AaronVanDoe since when? ITF is ITF, unless you perform WTF Taekwon-do, the pattern should be the same. A teacher who adds things, or leaves things out, is not conforming to General Choi's wishes and intentions. That said, the ITF is evolving, but no one adds anything to the existing patterns, over time slight changes have been made to the way certain moves are executed, but the basic patterns haven't changed at all.

  • @k2kkoos what ever mate i was just trying to help you out.

  • @AaronVanDoe I guess you misunderstood me, or I misunderstood you. No offence meant, I hope none taken, but perhaps you need to clarify me what you meant with your remark that instructors add their own and change things, as to me that doesn't seem right. Cheers and Taekwon!

  • @k2kkoos none taken hahah but i did misinform you my bad i dont know why i added the teacher part probly the lack of sleep lol but yeah i am instructed from the ctf so i just thought that maybe we where from the same federation lol oh well i guess no matter what taekwondo is taekwondo......just not the olympic style... ): sorry everyone but i dont like not being allowed to throw punches to the head lol yeah live the true life style Eat,Sleep,Taekwondo hahah

  • @AaronVanDoe Okay cheers! :-) I have not heard of the CTF to be honest. The olympic style you refer to is probably the WTF you mean. They have always approached Taekwon-Do as a sport to earn medals and titles with, and far less on the Martial Art part, which is what it originally is. Each to their own,but I prefer the original ( ITF).

  • @k2kkoos hahah i never knew that lol i only know a bit about the ctf background lol i guess i still have alot to learn. well i guess what ever works works right lol ....say what do you mean the ctf not to be honest...is the itf and the ctf rivals

  • @AaronVanDoe Not sure about that, I don't know the CTF, what is that short for? I am familiar with the WTF (world taekwondo federation), and the ITF (International taekwondo federation (and the one founded by Choi), but of which there are 3 due to a split up after general choi's death, long story so not in this comment, but they all have the same style/approach) and the GTF , (global taekwondo federation) founded by an ex ITF master Park Yoong Hi , who has passed away but the GTF is still there

  • @k2kkoos choong-sil taekwondo federation it was created by robert harden...ive been told his story a couple times but i never bothered to really pay attention lol you could look it up if your interested in what the background is. i think it is a really current style

  • @AaronVanDoe Thanks I'll look that up and enjoy your Taekwon-do training

  • @TheEpicBingHater

I think his stances are flawless...but you just might have learned it a different way

  • @TheEpicBingHater Better go back to learning, there are two pressing blocks performed in slow motion, followed by the hooking fist in slow motion too. Where did you spot a wrong stance or move? I saw sine wave properly utilised, I saw fluidity, I saw power, and looking at the green reference line, he ended up where he started, so precision is there too, I'm intrigued where you think he's going wrong?

  • @k2kkoos his stances just don't seem deep enough...yes i know about the pressing blocks, but the very last 2 moves...they aren't bo blocks? i learned...press...sudo..press...sudo..bo block, bo block...lolz so confusing X_X i never learned a hooking fist at all in this hole kata.

  • @TheEpicBingHater The last two moves are known in Korean as Gojung so digutja makgi , it's a block which is U shaped, and both hands are opened with thumbs spread out as if to try and grab a 'stick' if that makes sense to you describing it that way perhaps? Then the hooking fist just before those is a Moa so kiokja jirugi , also described as an angle punch at approx 90 degrees..

Oh by the way, it's a TUL in ITF Taekwon-Do, a Kata is a japanese term for patterns practiced in Karate. LOL :-)

  • @k2kkoos thats what i was wondering...the last two moves i know are called bo blocks which is blocking a bo staff like you said and wow so many foreign words that i dont know lolz >.< there is no hooking punch in the way i learned it..........................none

  • @k2kkoos

No, its not designed to grab a stick... the blocking tool is arc-hand and the top hand would be the primary blocking tool for an overhead stick attack, the bottom hand is used in case the attacker then attacks with the bottom portion...

its a common misconception for this block ...

  • @darkedge3 , Hi there, you are right, I was not clear, and my explanation saying that it is 'as if to try and grab a stick' is not clear, it was merely to indicate that the hand is open. Although in theory, a grab could follow this block. It's just an application that could naturally follow this block if executed in such a situation. It's quite interesting to think about the practical application and follow up on techniques found in the TKD patterns.

  • I just got my blue belt today

  • @LiamUchiha1 good job. I'm getting my red belt today. :)))

  • @akhanian Did you 'get' it, or did you pass and exam first as I've never been given any belts, had to work hard for each, I'm sure that's the same for you too. Anyway, hope you passed and are now a red belt! :-)

  • @LiamUchiha1 Congrats and keep it up!

  • going for my red belt tomorrow and this helped a lot

  • I'm only a blue belt but i only get any help from here.

  • Im testing tonight for my red stripe and this helped!

  • can some1 post a tutorial? since i just became a blue belt and i missed my special class.... and in this video it shows his back at some parts D:

  • Just became blue belt seriously need help on this one got any more vids?

  • all of his forms definitely have plenty of power but he is sacrificing a lot of technique. he can stand to keep his hands closer to his face and in more of a fighting position when he kicks as opposed to them being all over the place. in addition to this it would not hurt to keep a better center of balance. these are all just small and "nit picky" but overall it was a very good form, and his breathing technique is very amazing and he is very crisp on his strikes and blocks.

  • @wc3br "...in more of a fighting position when he kicks as opposed to them being all over the place." what are you talking about? the hand positioning in each of the kicks is almost flawless. do you not understand technique? the side kick is simultaneous with a punch of the same side

  • WOOOOW this is great now i see how to really do it wow tAE KWON DO IN HAWAII IS NT THE BEST TECHNIQUE

  • Thank you so much! This is so useful for blue belt testing.

  • omg grading tommorow if i passi will be black stripe aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • I jst passed my blue belt grading(4th kup) and i am now learning Joon Gun tul-uploads like this really help!-Thanks.(my only gripe concerning this video is my taekwondo instructor told me the SIDE KICK is a MID-SECTION side kick in this pattern and NOT the HIGH side kick you see i nthis video-i'm gonna do it the way i been told)TAEKWON.

  • Does he still 5 Dan?

  • LOL TTA = Toronto Trucking association ? :P

  • his sidekicks!!!! AMAZING!!!

  • Thank god for this video! I passed shame today at TKD school after forgetting Joong-gun.

  • I've seen 8th dan masters perform Joon Gun as an example for the blue stripes; and definitely this guy Jaroslaw is way better, and totally elegant with the steps.

  • Your executions amaazing !I'm a red belt but I still find it hard to apply so much power when your doing it in air ;)

  • Right now I'm getting to practice this form will surrender within months. Very good and excellent technique of the Sabón

  • @erdoy Sabonim

  • are you supposed bang your foot down in rear foot stance? or do the techniques vary from schools and countries?

  • techniques vary between masters and schools.

  • its really how much heart and feeling you put on it that makes any kind of effect and varies it :)

  • Interpretation of all forms vary worldwide, from instructor to instructor and with time. Sine wave never used to exist and people perform different techniques for different reasoning. All are correct if they are justified. Our rear foot stance tends to be much shorter. He probably stamps down for more reaction or power, not something I have tried...

  • I am just learning this one i know up to half of it

  • This is my new pattern. Mr Suska you have helped me a lot with your pattern demo.

  • In an Hour I'm going for my black stripe. Wish me luck. :)

  • Hope you made it :D

  • i understand that it isnt used in sparring and no doubt ITF is definitely recognized. I do THE original style of TKD my instructors and several of us other black belts are having to go to ITF or ITA or WTF to get our instructor certs... but while doing that we are working on getting enough school enough money and enough recognition to start an organization called TTA (Traditional Taekwondo Association) but thats just us

  • Doesn't the TTA already exist...? I have definately heard of TTA and what is the original style of TaekwonDo? Im genuinely interested, give me some idea of what you do differently

  • As far as I know our school hasnt been sued for infrigement yet so there must not be one. ITF, ITA, WTF, ATA, etc are all organizations that have added things to the martial art. Each one doing something different much like different denominations of the Christian church... This is the equivalant of non-denominational... All we do is forms and sparring... Though G. Choi created sine wave before he died we do not recognize it, though it was created by the creator so to speak...

  • if you want in depth information I would be happy to answer any and all of the questions that you or anyone else may have.

  • Tbh sine wave is one of the best power sources while doings tuls and it's also unique to TKD when compared to Karate for example. Their katas seem so sticky without any harmony.

  • Theres supposed to be a kihap on the double upset. And what was with the beginning of the pattern? The scoops didnt look right. And after that knife hand guarding block ur supposed to grab the persons shirt and then elbow strike. At least thats how i was taught.

  • ...definitely diffrent than mine...his rear foot stances arnt supposed to pound on da floor either

  • i dint know what you been shown to do but its wrong lol there is only kihap at the end of the patter and this elbow is also not in the pattern

  • We get our patterns from General Choi himself so I'm pretty sure its right since he's the one who invented taekwondo

  • so did we but general choi did not use sine wave over here in the uk there is and 8th degree who was selected by gen choi to travel around with him and peform patterns and he was my instructor teacher now my instructor is 7th degree and gen choi wasnt the only one to have invented tkd C.K Choi is also a 9th degree and he had his hand in most of the patterns and even he dosent use sine wave

  • Idk who ur instructor is or what u were shown but not only did my instructor train under one of Choi's disciples but we also consult that tkd encyclopedia that Gen. Choi came out with a few years ago. It takes u thru every pattern and explains the purpose of each movement in a fight. This is what helps to perform it correctly as well.

  • my instructor trained under Rhee Ki Ha one one of the origanal 12 twelve tkd masters and an amazing tkd master in his own right and one of the top masters and im not disrespecting a legend. Choi Chang-keun is also one of the twelve and a former korean national champion he has also trained my instructor

  • who told u that?

    WTF: created in 1972

ITF: created in 1966 BY GENERAL CHOI HONG HI FATHER OF TAEKWON-DO so in wikipedia we trust :)

  • I always wonder what TaekwonDo was like during 1956-65, before ITF...

  • @imEDWARDERLIC

Nononoon, WTF is the original. General Choi Hong Hi was a traitor!

  • @YellowMagi PROVE IT :D this may end in revolution, WTF itsef, says its fundation was in 1973 (i missd that) so why is WTF the original Tkd?

  • @imEDWARDERLIC There was no such thing called Taekwon-Do until the General created it, so anything after that has him and his students to thank!

  • @YellowMagi He was only labelled a traitor because he took his system to North Korea, so the South Korean government exiled him and stole the name of his system and made the WTF.

  • @koreamixguy08 rubbish Gen Choi and park jung tae developed these 24 patterns. also Gen Choi invented taekwon-do in 1955, Taekwondo is amodern martial art that is different in style and technique from japanese karate, chinese chuan fa and the korean taekyyon that preceded it.

The WTF was founded in 1973 I believe, the ITF was founded in 1962, the WTF was founded when Gen Choi left South Korea in self imposed exile because and took his organization the ITF with him. He was never a part of WTF

  • also just saying... this is my opinion and everyone is entitled to one i have respect for anyone who does the sine wave i am just simply saying that TO ME it has no room in my arsenal... but then again you really see here the difference between ITF and traditional styles.

  • This "Tul" just like any other "kata" or "jurus" is the way to learn the basic and to get the "feeling". At this moves, every move is a "big" move. Just like in kendo, we swing the shinai in large motions in kirikaeshi to get the proper technique, posture and "feeling". But in the real match, every moves are small but still executed correctly thanks to the big moves training. Of course we learn how to correctly moving in small motion too. inI hope you get my point. Thanks

  • yeah the sine wave isnt how it should of been done if anyone says any different they aint been shown right c k choi who along with general choi made these most of these patterns and well even he never uses sine wave that is the reason why he is so please with the tagb for practicing tkd as its origanal style none of the sine wave bull shit

  • Im going to Derby in 30 mins for my Black belt Pre-Grading (:

  • i hate pre gradings lol cuz im always out on friday nights and ours are always early saturday lol

  • im blue belt dong for now i want my test

  • Excellent, but i was taught that U-Shaped block was sposed to have ur back arm above your head...Other than that... PERFECT!

  • but then again that is just the way our instructor and style is... and as for sparring i love sparring i do MMA and TKD really helps my stand up game and when i use it in the cage i get great result because this martial art being mostly kicks is POWER.

  • And i was reading back to the past posts and people who really think that the forms have no "battle" application are mistaken every move in a form should be done as if done on a person trying to attack after EVERY form you should be winded if you did it right whenever i do chon ji im out of breath because of the intesity and sheer magnitude of it and ive been doing chon ji for years. So in all i would say this man is good at what hes doing but i cant learn details from this due to the sine wave

  • well said, people say that the forms in my art (gong fu and wushu) look more like dancing and say that they dont help you in a real fight at all. When in truth every move in a form no matter how small has an application for fighting. thank you for saying that. most people dont realize how much you have to put into these forms and they aren't as easy as they seem.

  • I know this form and have perfected it and i am not saying that this guy is doing it wrong because im not in the ITF im in TTA (Traditional). I understand that he is doing sine wave and it makes no since in traditional we chamber every single move every chamber acts as part of a move... if the chamber is wrong then the form is wrong and this person isnt even attempting to chamber but all respects to him because he out ranks me but still i dont see what benefit sine wave gives the user

  • Hoew can you say you've perfected a form? Everyone has room for improvement.

  • Sine wave gives the user the ability to use gravity at his atvantage. When you do the wave motion and strike or block as soon as your body lowers, the attack or block becomes more powerful.

  • i have heard this theory before and it just that a theory... Im not saying its right nor am i saying its wrong all i am saying is that by the time sine wave is put into use i could have hit you with one deadly blow or several very hard hits. Thats just me tho obviously if someone attacks you you arent going to respond at the speed you do your form... i dont know if ITF people are taught to use sine wave in case of a real attack but if that is the case that lag could mean death...

  • in ITF we don't use sine wave while sparring, it's just to make our patterns look better and engance our sense (sort of) of equilibrium.

  • sine wave is no good bouncing up and down like that is not how tkd was made also useing sine wave bouncing up and down you will loose cetre of gravity hip twist will deliver far more power

  • I'm learning this pattern right now in my martial arts classes! This is gonna help, thanks!
