  • I am not aware of any such deal; price sounds ridiculously low. However, US did make Kuwait and Saudi Arabia pay for first Gulf war and "liberation" of Kuwait. That is payment for direct US expenses, mind you.

The US continues to extract financial benefits via (a) payment of oil in US dollars (America's fiat currency), (b) requirement to invest received dollars in US economy and purchase US arms (so dollars are recycled back), and (c) keeping oil prices low (by controlling production).

  • I think Robert Fisk hits the mark when he says that above all Muslims long for a freedom from the West. The history of the Islamic world over the past two centuries is an epic of colonization, occupation, humiliation, and exploitation at the hands of Western powers. The trend continues today with Western support of tyrannical regimes, prevention of rise of participatory democracy, occupation of Islamic countries (Iraq and Afghanistan), and theft of their land (in West Bank and Gaza).

Thank you for the great video; that has incited me to create a video very soon. The problem is with the US is that it speaks of Democracy and Freedom; yet that the same time aligns with tyran regimes such as Saudi Arabia and Egypt where oil and geopolitics play a greater role than the rights of citizens. Where the morality of individual rights and liberty are secondary to the search for cheap oil and a puppet regime into the middle east to exert influence over a whole region.
