@GamingDeTaylor Hey mate. Not sure where the variation in responsiveness would be coming from between projects. I didn't think my code was so tight, but I keep getting asked this. What I'm guessing is that I keep my "gesture" stuff VERY basic. As in I don't use any algorithms to detect a gesture, but instead use raw position and speed data to program very simplistic rules for the sounds to respond to.
dude.. been working with ableton for YEARS, and you have by far did some of the craziest stuff i have ever seen anyone do with this program.. keep doing this.. haha
ok i got it, the notes are forced to the harmonics of each of the 2 chords, which keep being sent. i do the same in pd~ directly. i'll post a vid soon, i think i have a good idea to use the whole body (and working with dancers does help on this ...). thanks for the great work and the fast answer, keep in touch
i'm working on something similar but using only puredata and to generate soundtracks for contemporary dance (see my first tries at gbrllcp on youtube). i was wondering how you designed the harmony, is it just going up and down the scale or are the 2 hands involved? ...
if you're interested i have a patch for whole body mouvement recognition. keep up the good stuff. i'd love to collaborate, and to see you live
@gbrllcp when you say harmony, are you talking about when i'm layering two melodies together? or do you mean how i implement the scale for the synths? the notes are constantly being sent from my max patch, their pitch is controlled using the X-axis of my left hand. this is snapped to a scale once it arrives in Ableton.
OSCeleton has access to all the joints, however i'm limiting this to my hands. i don't find any of the other joints very useful.
I am working on a project like this and I was wondering have you been able to make multiple people control different synths? Other than that phenomenal work, very fluid.
@kibaronin it's possible, but i haven't implemented it into my system yet. i'm in the process of rebuilding my entire patch and i plan to include that feature.
That's amazing! Might I suggest (In a humbled manner) that you try looping all the sounds together and then using a microphone on top to write songs like this? Or just MC? I think a lot of people might dig that... not that they don't obviously already dig this :P Good luck! and grats on the conference gig! Earned!
@Kaoji cheers very much. it's certainly a great idea, having that ability to create instantaneous layers of sound with my voice (beat-boxing or singing) would add an additional layer of awesome to it. unfortunately i can't do either - but i think i'll start practicing!
Not only is this a wonderful technical feat... even then its only half the work. Managing to mix and loop that stuff one-the-fly... that is just amazing. I don't wear hats very often, but if i did i would be taking it off for you!
this is pretty huge as it is(great job!), and can even evolve so much further! I just got an idea for the future when the sensors will be way more advanced with many more variables: sensing the crowd in a live show, and averaging their movement to alter and create certain variables(also allowing for stand-out dance moves to stand out in the music)... just a blazed thought! I give you permission to patent that idea synaecide ;)! keep up the good work bro!
why is the crowd not going nuts?

I don't like the music. I think the high sounds are just noise and don't support the track but ... great but ...
The idea is brilliant and as engineer I love the technical aspect in this work.
