I admit, these plasma TVs are good. Blacks are the best I've seen on plasmas. However once the LG OLED TV is released, it will own this TV in terms of black level: contrast: design: picture; power consumption... GAME OVER PANNY.
I bought a panasonic gt25 and I was really dissappointed at the quality of the unit. I know it's not the vt series but I expected a bit more from panasonic. Now compared to samsung amoled display I think panasonic is going to be left behind.
Can anyone help me out with a decision for my next tv/display? I want to get an OLED, but realize it is out of reach due to price so am looking at the following options. I either want an IPS monitor or plasma tv. Which one has better color and image quality? thanks!
@lethaldonkey yes it would be the best way.. but there to damn expensive. a 55 inch oled is about 10 k. way out of the price range of the average consumer. i dont see oled hitting retailers for another 4 years. OLED has been at CES for the pase 3 years. they just have not found any to bring down the cost. the VT50 will most likely retail around 3000-3500 when it is first available for purchase. but id say about 4-6 months that price will drop alot!
@TheMichaelRN yes it! im buying my 55 inch VT30 for 1699 tommorow! being that it retails for 2499 im extremely happy. now is the time to hunt for the vt30. it is the BEST tv on the market hands down. i work as a tv salesman at FRY's Electronics. i have compared the samsung D8000, Sony xbr929, and VT30 side by side by side and the vt30 by far has the best color accuracy, black level gradation, Realistic picture, and Much cheaper than both of those tvs.
RE TO:I didn't think the black could get any more deeper on the VT series. Panasonic is about to be the plasma leader for 5 years in a row soon. by Cpatrick1990
NO vt 30 have 0.002 so it is not perfect:)
YES YES YES ,Finally
because of addicional engineering works(because of Japan Earthquake), Panasonic INCREASED steps of GRADATION form 6,144 in vt 30 to 24,576 in vt50 which is NOW smooth - i hope.
Samsung alreadey in 9000 model have smooth gradation 18 bit panel.
Infinate Black ULTRA Panel??? I didn't think the black could get any more deeper on the VT series. Panasonic is about to be the plasma leader for 5 years in a row soon. Congrats.

@ibanez0830 Honestly I'd rather shell out the extra money and get the oled. I bought the gt25 before and that was a really big mistake.

It looks great but I want to know if Super OLED would be the way to go with deeper blacks and more vivid colors.

@K1LLAY The #4 is seems to be bad luck in many asian cultures. Some companies take it more seriously than others I guess.
