The best!
Callas is unbelievable as Ifigenia. Get the Divina Records release of this performance, the sound is incredible!! And I am used to recordings from the 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, etc and of recent decades, I can honestly tell you it sounds AMAZING! Doesn't sound like 57 at all!
You shouldn´t say that it sucks. Of course it is in French. In the 70s of the XVIII century, Gluck composes this opera in French. Also, in those years, many of his works in Italian are translated into French.
correctly, and that's because the operas he composed after his reform have the style of the french opera's school, so he later made adaptations in french
Oh sventurata Ifigenia!
I was in opera last night for this masterpiece.
Music from God and lyrics from soul.

Visconti said that this was the most beautiful piece of work that he and Callas did together.

profoundly moving and elegant. Callas is fine as ever because of her authenticity.

There never was nor ever will be another Maria Callas.

Such power and majesty in her interpretation. Callas and Gluck uniting as one. Beautiful!
