Most people don't know that the US created Saddam, by recruiting & training Saddam in the 1950-60's to kill General Qasim and torture/kill hundreds of his followers. He not only killed those 148 people he had them and many others from the city of Ad Dujyal. I now work with former Marines who are cops who served in Iraq and other. bigmex19 said 90% of Marines enlisted for the college grants and didnt enlist for reasons like you laid out. When u sign, u also think about going to war if shit happens. Most of us 29 yrs ago who signed up were idealist and believed in God, USA, & the Marine Corps.

Most people don't know that the US created Saddam, by recruiting & training Saddam in the 1950-60's to kill General Qasim and torture/kill hundreds of his followers. This enabled Saddam to get into power. The US allied with him for decades, giving him WMDs, satellite intel & military equipment to kill hundreds of thousands of Iranian troops.

If we left, the insurgents would probably try to make a grab for control of Iraq and more people would die. He not only killed those 148 people he had them and many others from the city of Ad Dujyal. Plus he had the land that they lived on and farmed on salted they got thier food from that land and took them a long time to dig up all the contaminated soil so they could grow things again. A lot of the area is still in bad shape. I will say once again if you haven't been there you have'nt earned the right to talk about it.

You're kidding right? Do they not teach history in your country? We lost over 58,000 service personel in 10 years of fighting Vietnam, We lost 54,000 in the 4 years we fought in Korea. And 3000 is sad but the fact that only 3000 of our best have died is a testament to the tactical efficiency of our soldiers.

garand: if you're referring to Kuwait, one of the reasons Saddam invaded was because he was pissed at US & other Arab countries for expending his resources to invade Iran & therefore took Kuwait for compensation. He was pissed at US, who allied with him to attack Iran, but dropped out mid-way.
