you know when things like this happen, is usually the to get a catapult loaded sensors to have them flown into the still-twister to monitor the data... probably one of the best opportunities science/weather forecasting could ever have... but determining the which tornado to do so.. is life risking.. so very rare event

the thing about landspouts is they need dust to be visable, minus the funnel cloud. i had a close encounter with one in Ct. i was in fifth grade when i was walking home and saw a cone above me. as soon as i saw that cone, the wind just swirled around me and only 20 ft. in front of me, a dust tube roughly 50 ft. around spun up on the road in front of me and went on for about 1 mile. it took my hat. meh.

I saw 3 tornadoes years ago when I lived in Okla. We would go looking for them in order to take photos. The best view I saw was when one was speeding completely parallel to me on the horizon as I drove along an interstate highway in the panhandle. They are amazing! I was pretty thankful it did not take a right turn towards me :0
