Michael Eric Dyson couldn't even shine a white man's shoes. How can anyone take this coke snorting minister seriously? He only loves black women because he sleeps with a ton of them. When he would show up to the Alpha Kappa Alpha, they would announce "Manwhore needs another customer"
Harry Reid talks about the African-American dialect yet he says nothing negative about Southern Congressmen and Senator's dialect. He's says nothing about George Bush Texan dialect. Some people may not like the way George Bush speaks but they're not going to come and lambaste him for his southern dialect. This "Negro" dialect shows me that Harry Reid likes black people that ape the mannerisms, tastes, and speech of whites. It appears you have to "act white" in order to succeed in this country.
Why do white people call their own children black when mixed children are 50% black and 50% white? I think it's an implicite form of rejection of their own blood when it is mixed with a color that they look down on as a dirt. So, when a white person calls Obama Black, for me it is just as much racist as it is when the use the "n" word. Black people on the other hand don't reject their seed and accept everybody as long as it is evident that a person has some percentage of "black blood".
The fact that this man has anybody who considers him articulate, profound or intelligent is a testament to the shockingly high levels of illiteracy in black America.
I say this because it is impossible to actually comprehend this man's arguments and still think he is clever. Practically everything he says is a pathetic liberal platitude clothed in esoteric vocabulary choices and repeated at rocket-speed. He is a billboard for the term: "pseudo-intellectual". His fans need to learn to read.
@TheAutiger13 Yes, but the majority of white folks are not intimidated when they hear Eminem rap simply because he's white. This dude rapes about killing and burying his mother yet he sells tons of records and no one complains about it. However, when a black person raps about the guns and drugs that he's seen in his neighborhood, while growing up, he's labeled as a troublemaker and used as a scapegoat for the only reason why there's so much crime.
While I disagree with Reid's use of 'Negro', for Dyson to say he does not know what African American dialect (read: vernacular) is is outrageous. It various from region to region, of course, but there is such a thing as Black vernacular just like there is Appalachian vernacular.
If....IF you are a black person who's offended by the statement Rush Limbaugh made about Donovan McNabb, which like Harry Reid's statement was statement of fact, you can find reason I believe you could be offended around the 3:56 mark. Judge the statement based on whether it's factual. If it is, I tend to give the person the benefit of the doubt. It is racist by the strict definition & certainly by the standard to which those on the right are held. Sometimes the truth isn't politically correct
Can anyone tell me why Blacks should be offended by Reid's comments? Reid wasn't being offensive to Blacks he was actually saying whites are too racist to elect a dark skinned Black person who speaks ebonics. Actually most Blacks would actually agree with Reid. Another point....I am a Black man and I have no problem with the word Negro.
Negro is what We (I'm black too) were called after nigger was no longer PC. After negro we were colored. The closest to what we are that blacks go by is African American. Anything less than that is derogatory as what a people call themselves should link them to a land mass. There is no negroland, coloredland, or blackland. There is an Africa though (John Henrik Clarke)
What he said was offensive when compared to history. Africans built and ran the worlds first Universities..
Greeks and Romans came to Africa to learn the foundation of what they would later call their own culture (read Herodotus, Hippocrates, Aristotle, Plato, Alexander the Great, Cheikh Anta Diop, Gerald Massey, etc) We were scholars long before colleges so in all honesty what we consider "talking like whites" would be a reflection of what our ancestors taught those who said Africans could not be educated.
Once again, if you look at the demographics of the US there are more whites living in poverty and on welfare than blacks. There are more uneducated whites than blacks in America. So if you want to get technical what Reid considers "negro dialect" would be "white dialect" given the above AND what many African Americans hold to in terms of reaction to situations stems from slavery which whites were the masters in.
Did you know the Democratic Party supported slavery & fought with the Confederacy?
that i agreewith you on and i think dems are more dangerous because their racism is covert and they are like a parasite destroying the black community.. fostering a culture of dependency..yes there are more whites in numbers but in proportion to population blacks are overrepresented in all the fucked up social ills..dems like that..more programs more votes.. under the guise of help which is really to slow development.
negro means black.anglo whites attitudes made it offensive .there is no whiteland either. African American is the best but what is AA? u have many who wont accept Obama as black because his black is African not American.. how stupid(naacp)..you have latinos who are black by race yey arent accepted by you except when you want to make an afrocentric point Negro describes the race.. people from partsof Asia are not African but negro-think papua new guinea the negritos of the philippines and pacific
same.people forget that we are benefactors of white culture .what is african about you other than genetics.seriously? from names to language this what we have. Obama was raised by whites hence his inclination tospeak how he does versus someone who grew up in an area with many blacks who DO speak differently.Latin Am is the same Spanish from SPAIN is not the same as ebonical Dominican Span. both black America and Latin have speech that mimics W African syntax and speech that stayed despite 500yrs
@concorde9615 Well, that's you. Not every black person feels like you. Some black people weren't bothered by being called nigger but that doesn't make it right.
@concorde9615 That's you. Just because you, as a black man, don't have a problem with the word "Negro" that doesn't mean that other blacks don't. There are black that don't have any problem with the N-word but that doesn't make it right.
According to black people, they (black people) cannot ever be racist. Hmmm. Whatever! Fuck them!

@Thedarksecret1 Or act "negro" in a way that satisfies white blackophilia. Most consumers of soulja boy and all that shit are white youths.

wtf, all black people do not speak alike. Also, many white people listen to rap today and use the same langauge as some black people.

@Thedarksecret1 thats a load of crap, people need to stop the double standard and look at it as two sides of the same coin.
