See, there is such a thing as "talent" and Pat Metheny honed it a LOT more than many rock guitarists. It's just normal. There is one point people confuse with technical ability, though, and that is creativity; creativity IS subjective. THAT is what people keep arguing about. Yes I prefer listening to ZZ Top over Wes Montgomery; ZZ Top has creativity that I prefer over Wes'. But that said dead guy was STILL a LOT better. And that's the story of creativity. It spoils peoples' perception of talent.

In actuality, there is such a thing as "better musicians". Yes, amongts incredible talents, we're doomed to be too ignorant to be able to tell who's "better"; but I wouldn't dream of Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, or Billy Gibbons being "great", compared to Metheny; that's just logical. Whoever spends most time practicing or creating orchestras that play by themselves?

I dont think i've EVER seen two musicians fill that much sound space. If you close your eyes, it sounds like an entire band. The only comparable duo may be John Mclaughlin and Billy Cobham Back in the Mahavishnu days. And to all those people who dont at least respect this and acknowledge it as a brilliant performance, A simple message i have: Fuckin, go to sleep.

Ok. Let me set these arguments straight. Pat Metheny is a genius guitar player. The reason you may believe that others are better is because your harmonic evolution may be early on and you may not be ready for the chromaticism of Jazz so you appreciate other guitar players like eric clapton, jimi hendrix, or jimmy page. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The more you develop your ear and the more you play with other musicians you will accept and appreciate more complex and intricate pieces.

lets just enjoy the music each on his own way and btw both eric and pat are great, i bet eric could never play like pat and pat could never play like eric clapton it is just a matter of taste and choise of music thats all.

@obdami Why the comparission with Clapton?? he is a great guitar player too, with a historic importance......Make a comparission with people like Malmsteem or Petrucci, or any Shreder Shit Guitar....but Clapton is different, and is grreat...and i am not a Clapton fan.

sanchez has such great feel and never overdoes anything. idk..i was jsut watchign a bunch of tom prigden videos...peopel claiming hes so good. just him as an example, he overdoes the fuck out of evrything he plays. no balance. sanchez balances all his notes between hmself and the band. hes my fovorite
