  • Hey I play mw3 a lot and I want to make videos of me playing it so do I need some sort of capture card or is there any way of getting ms playing on mw3 on my ps3 onto a valid file for YouTube onto my pc ?

  • Hello. i have a new cannon t3i camera which i have taken High Def video on, but when its on my computer it automatically goes to quicktime and youtube will not let me upload it. When i try to do it througth the cannon software youtube uploader it says the file. is .02 gig too big. the video is just over 4 minutes and 1.2 gigs. Any idea how i can upload this and watch it properly in windows media for example? Thank you

  • @ezgwn if your on win,

go to your camera in the computer, (almost always in "My computer" or "computer") and right click your video file. go to the drop down where it says "Open With". Then, click "Choose Default" There should be a list of programs, if not just browse for more.

That should take care of that...

If its not already, try changing the format to quicktime. (lol I KNOW you don't want that)

but you can always change your defalut program. That should size down the file a bit.

  • cool

  • very usefull :-bd

  • When i try to open my .avi file in MPEG Streaclip it says: File open error: This movie file is not supported. Then i hit open anyway, but when it opens it says: File open error: Can't find video or audio tracks.

Whould u please help me? I'm lost..

  • i think i hear mr saxobeat

  • So is it normal that once the video is uploaded, only 480p will show?

  • dood you rock!

  • Be4 i do this steps i must create the Video and audio first right? SHould i use sony vegas pro and after making the video (AVI.) it will be massive GB as u said and after that i just simply follow this instructions?

  • Everytime I Do The New Size Thing It Always Changes The Numbers For No Reason and It Wont Go 1280x125

  • if I record my game 1280x720 Screen resolution without editing, can i directly upload it to youtune after converting as MP4?

And which Format does not messes up the video quality?

    FLV or MP4?

  • @Heartbreakkid995 You should be able to do that, yeah. MP4 is decent, I definitely wouldn't recommend uploading an FLV from what I know simply because the compression rate on FLVs tends to be quite high. It's best to upload the highest quality file you can within reason.

  • This Is Kinda Tricky For Me... You See... This Is How I Do Mine( Not In Correct Way)

1st)Record Games With Fraps[AVI.](Video Is Recorded Under 1152x768 Reso)

2nd)Import Media Using Camtasia Studio 6 Or Sony Vegas Pro 8.

    3rd)Export As AVI.

4th) Done Rendering.Open Any Video Converter.

5th)Select Customize Mp4. On The Aspect Ratio I Select 1280x720.

    6th) After done converting,Now,Video is MP4.

    7th)Upload to Youtube. Edit Description.

    The Result: /watch?v=_vk7_8IyiQc

  • why my video come out with a black screen?

  • why it takes long encoding? how long was your example video? The video I'm uploading is about 13mins I believe.

  • Thank You

  • PLEASE READ:

For recording there is fraps which is reccommended for gaming videos, this program is cheap and is very very easy to use and i reccommend it.

Camtasia can record everything, on screen, a part of the screen, a game ect. Camtasia also includes an editing program when you buy and can edit and upload straight to youtube. But its very expensive.

So there are your GOOD options.

  • PLEASE RESPONSD SMEAGOL STUDIOS OR SOMEBODY! The video format is Mov., and it won't let me upload onto youtube..! =\

  • @ultislasher1 If it's not letting you upload at all there's probably either something wrong with the file or you're having browser/connection problems. It'd be outside the subject matter of this video either way, though, sorry I'm not more helpful here.

  • @SmeagolStudios K.. Thanks for responding =D

P.S. You responsd really fast =DDD Thanks for the vid!

  • my fps was 60 and i put it at 120 it didnt work out so well after that o-o how do u fix that?

  • @MrLPandsuch You don't need to double the framerate if it's over 24 fps anyway, just leave it at 60 and you should be fine

  • It works Fine! I love it. Thanks for the Tutorial

  • I've been researching how to take a dvd movie, convert the IFO, VOB, and BUP files after the movie's ripped to FLV files so that I can upload them to YouTube. Is there a simple way to do this because this has gotten to be too technical?

  • ASF is not suported? Help :(

  • Why's the Audio is gone in my Video? Pardon me. Maybe you can explain?...Thanks!

  • The best video of making HD videos that I've seen. Thanks!

  • Whats your internet speed?

How much time does it take you to upload an 500MB

    HD video?

  • Hy there. Im new in this things with video formats. Please tell me how to upload a mov file on youtube. Last time was ok(take time but ok) now it gives me error. Thank you.

  • everything worked but it said on the actual video its an unactivated product so how do i get rid of that

  • @MrXactoHD Both the programs in the tutorial are freeware so they shouldn't create that; it sounds like something preexisting in your video so I suppose you'd need to re-render it in whatever software wasn't activated

  • thanks for the hel ive been having a bad time uploading vedios to youtube recently

  • I have a problem. I'm uploading a video in HD thats made on Sony Vegas 9.0 but its taking hours to upload and it's still in the "starting upload..." stage. Help please?

  • Hey dude i got a Problem i am trying put my video in the VirtualDub Or in MPEG and its say file error i dont know why try to help me give me ur msn pls i explain u better

  • Almost everything works for me. but the only problem I have is that when I open steamclip, it shows a white screen, and if I try to compress it anyways, it'll just save the music, and totally ignore the video. I have quicktime installed. I record using fraps. I noticed other people having the same problems, but I can't find any answers to fix the problem.

  • @TheKeeshu It's a weird problem, I'm not sure what causes it. If the video is uncompressed going into streamclip I don't know why it wouldn't display at all.

  • may i know which program to record? :O

  • @jonlimsj camstudio, hyper cam....and much more

  • @jonlimsj if video games try using fraps but it caosts a bit also if u want free try using unregistered hypercam 2 but fraps is way eaier and better

  • @jonlimsj

Fraps for Game recording ( MUST BUY )

Camtasia for Desktop recording ( Must buy, LOTS OF MONEY ) 300 and something $.

    Camstudio for crappy quality videos.

    hypercam for above.

  • Sir, little help here, when I change into resize for my video so it's show with the percentage. I mean when I put 1280 so in the second next to box is show with percentage, it not show just like yours in your video, so I am just wonder that IT'S OK FOR VIDEO or IS THERE ANY MISTAKE which I am doing it.

please let me know. every time when I load my video in you tube its show two black bar on both side and those black bar I want a fix and that's why I watching your this video tutorial.

  • @NEKAADMI The final resolution has to be 1280 x 720 for it to work. Depending on the aspect ratio of your source video you may need to add bars to the sides or top and bottom to make that happen; this should be automated so long as you resize the video as explained in the tutorial.

  • specify the bitrate

because after effects video really has a lot

  • Where can i find that Lego video ? lol..

  • Sorry, can this tutorial convert normal video rip from disc to hd video and upload it on youtube?

  • @Lengfication nope, doesn't cover that

  • @SmeagolStudios Ok, thanks...

  • Does the video need to be at a certain bitrate? because i uploaded a vid with 1280x720 h264 and aac audio, and youtube only shows up to 480p

  • you are just fucking awesome! thank you a lot for an easy to understand tutorial :D

  • do you know what are you doing or just rewrite that is something written before.

I will tell you what you have done. You downloaded HD video from you tube, open video file properties for that video and rewrote file format, codec,fps..and other stuffs..and made tutorial here..I will ask you if you have HD video in one format with 25 fps and want to converted in other with 30 fps, do get better quality?

  • @GoranSapar Nope. I mostly figured this out on my own, and made the HD sample video myself. I am not expert enough to answer everybodys' questions, this video just explains how I format my videos for HD but there are other ways to do it.

Regarding your question, I'm not sure what you mean. As far as I know, anything 24 fps or over will work for YouTube's HD mode. Having a higher framerate generally won't affect quality if the source footage was in a lower framerate.

  • Hi, my video is just 14 seconds long and it is 720p, but it looks very crappy even in 480p and it has been a day since I uploaded it.. is it normal? does it take that long to process in 720p?

  • @yerapa12 No, maybe an hour tops, and that'd require it to be a pretty large video.

  • @SmeagolStudios Ahh I see, thanks.. is there a way to fix that problem? because I honestly searched a lot in google and I can't find a solution or a working solution to this.

  • @yerapa12 I don't know...any one thing you did wrong could account for it. It appearing at 480p on youtube just means it didn't recognize it as HD. You might try the windows movie maker 720p HD export feature, that's pretty easy and should give you a properly formatted video.

  • Ur my hero!

  • My camcorder records a .mts file? Does this method work with that as well?

  • @harnum721 no, you'll have to find a way to get it out of the .mts format into .avi if you want to use this tutorial. I've worked a bit with a camera that only used .mts once and it definitely complicates the whole formatting/compressing process at times.

  • Спасибо! Все понятно. Thank you.

  • Is there any way to decrease the filesize? My 15 minute video is 5gb @ 720p.

  • why can't i open a file in virtualdub? it even don't show when i press open file ...i don't find my video... help?

  • @kenerdd11 it's probably not in a file format that VirtualDub can open. In my tutorial I worked with AVI.

  • @SmeagolStudios

Hello my friend. I tried to import an "avi" file in Virtual Dub (Version 1.9.11) but was shown

"Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'XVID'' (Unknown)"

It said VirtualDub requires a video for Windows (VFW) compatiable codec to decompress video. DirectShows codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable."

I am using Windows 7, do you have a solution?

  • @Donal111 I don't really know, virtualdub isn't compatible with a number of codecs. XVID is a codec that your video is apparently encoded in. Remember .avi is just a container, not really the precise format of the file; when I made this tutorial I used uncompressed .avi video files.

  • How do you put the gamma thing in virtualdub?Everytime i try it won't work

  • @SmeagolStudios

Ok, I finished the virtualdub save and everything (the file was 10 gigabytes o.o) and then I opened the saved file to MPEG Streamclip. When I finish the settings and hit make movie, streamclip stops working. this happens everytime, any ideas why?

  • @TheCAGreat I haven't had that problem though with files this big it could be a RAM issue or something...maybe try a different tutorial, the large video sizes this one results in can be problematic for some people.

  • helo , please see my videos and coment,

    thanks.

  • wen i try 2 open a video file on virtual dub it says "ASF files not supported" wat does it mean? an how can i fix it?

  • @jedi90210 It doesn't handle .asf video, you have to have everything in an uncompressed .avi format for this tutorial unfortunately.

  • just another question, nothing to do with the video but how do you change your name to a picture like yours says subscribe for more?

  • @danandfriendslol I'm a YouTube partner, you have to be a partner to be able to do that. Google "youtube partner program" for more info

  • @SmeagolStudios OMG i'v tried putting the gamma file in but it won't get in!!!!!!I'M FUCKING UP WITH THIS NOT BEING ABLE TO MOVE COMPRESSED FILES THING!

  • hi when i view the video it has cut some video off the top and bottom of it any suggestions?

  • @danandfriendslol you need to resize it so the height is 720 instead of the width being 1280 on the resized video. This will add bars to the sides instead of the top and bottom as needed to make it fit the 1280 x 720 resolution.

  • Ok i have a problem man, i did all the steps, in the avi convertion, the video was great, nice resolution and nice audio, but when i used the MPEG Streamclip to do the final step... the video was rendering and says that it was ready.. but when i played it, had no audio, the video was great and full converted, but the audio was missed.. what can i do about this?

  • @DJAndresMachado under audio in virtualdub you could try using "full processing mode" and then under "compression" making sure the audio is uncompressed. It's possible there's a codec problem, which that would resolve.

  • fantastic tutorial....love it...

  • how do you activate the gamma plugin??

  • Looks like my tutorial was too convoluted for 48 people.

    Understandable, I guess.

  • @SmeagolStudios You can't take the fact that there actually were a few people out there that thumbed your vid down? If you would like a tissue i have one for you. By the way i think this is a great video and that your an asshole. Keep making great videos asshole! ;)

  • @TheUnbiasedGamer Haha, no, I was agreeing with them and parodying the "____ people didn't like the video for whatever reason" comments. This tutorial is probably not the simplest way to handle converting videos for HD upload, especially since a few years have passed since I made it. It's relatively complicated, so naturally it generates a lot of questions and problems for people. My comment was more self-deprecating than anything...

  • @TheUnbiasedGamer also I would much prefer the world's tiniest violin instead of a tissue, I'm not much of a crier

  • @SmeagolStudios Can it be a guitar?

  • Hello, I tried your method of uploading videos to HD, but I have no results. According to youtube, my videos can be played in HD, but the picture has no changes. It has the same look as if it is was in 360p. Can you please hep?

  • @general333333 was the original source video in HD? blowing up a standard def. video to HD won't do much for you. Otherwise I don't know, but looking at the videos on your channel it looks like the source video was perhaps not very high resolution.

  • @SmeagolStudios No, the videos were not. How do make the original source HD then?

  • @general333333 It depends...it's got to be originally produced in actual HD resolution. For example from an HD video source, or shot with an HD camera, etc.

If the source video isn't in HD, then there's not much use in uploading it as an HD video to YouTube.

  • Thank you, very good video - very straight forward... good job

  • So if i want a 1920x1080 i set that were you set it to 1280 ill mess around with it now i know how it is done to find what works best many thanks

  • You said you'd need to adjust the fps if its under 24... but by how much? always to 30? or always double it? my original video was 23fps..

  • @RoseErifnosi Was it 23.97 or something (the 24p digital video standard for some cameras) I'm betting that it might work alright, you wouldn't want to up it to 30 as that would mess with the timing of the frames.

Also I made this video over a year ago, so it's possible YouTube has smoothed some things out, too. I'm not really sure where the framerate limit falls, but I know that my 15 fps videos weren't cutting it without being doubled to 30.

  • After al that the audio doesn't work on the video.

Can u tell me what to do?

  • TY! i could finally upload in HD. =)

  • Great video champ keep up the good work.

  • this was boring

  • WHEN I DO THIS IT MAKES IT ALL CHOPPY???

  • walao so much of step.i lazy to do anywhere thx to see your videos.

  • I tried this method with a gameplay video that I had, but the thing is when MPEG Streamclip got done with it, the video was a blocky and you couldnt tell what was going on and the sound was slowed down very slowly and didnt match the video. Any Ideas?

  • whats .264 codec?? i have "Quicktime player" does that work?

  • **HELP** When i uploaded my video i waitted all the way (about 5 hours) and when it was live at the link they gave me, only about 3/4 of the video was there, its still the... only 3/4 of the video.... help plz

  • Remember that you need to have the 1.8.3 version I couldn't find the gamma changes filter other wise!

  • I meant to say if it likes obligation download it.

  • Is the VirtualDub gamma adjustment plugin needed for the VirtualDub ?

  • biraj gurung

  • ok, makes sense. Since it was close enough to 720p in the first place scaling it a little bit wouldn't make much difference. Thanks. Great tutorial!

  • when you resized it to 1280x720, what size was the video before? cause if it was smaller than 1280x720 then you lost quality right there by having to blow it up.

  • @peterhavener my video was 1024 wide, I forget the exact height since it was in 2.35...you don't generally *lose* quality by blowing up / enlarging a video, but you don't gain any either. My video was very close to 720p resolution so it was better to scale it up to that than to scale it down to a lower resolution.

  • Yea... I think im just gonna keep em uncompressed and invest in an external hard drive :D

  • Thanks Maaaaaan !!

  • I converted my mov. files to dvd mpeg then edited.how do i get best quality for youtube?

  • Hey, I got a problem. When i try to upload a video of me drumming a song it says that not the whole world can see it becouse of autor rights? The song is airplanes from bob and hayley williams. What can i do to upload it with no such errors? That the whole world it can see. PLz help and give me a private message.

    thx

  • name off camera type ?? e.x hypecam.

  • thanks man@@!!!@@

  • thank man!!!!XD

  • icant use the software virtualdub!!! i think its not compatible to window 7!! i cannot also download windows movie maker to my computer!!! help please!!

  • @david66637 windows movie maker comes with windows

  • It's weird how after downloading both programs and doing everything you said, my computer was incredibly low on memory. But that was a long time ago.

  • My video after videodub is 94 gb!!!!!!

  • You could make a video how to put videos into 1080p HD.

  • hi i did this and saved as avi but when i tried to add it to mgeg stream clip it didnt recognize the file :( please help :s

  • my video ist 9gb big is it normal?

  • @marcoilic13 that's not out of the ordinary for the uncompressed video, yeah. I just delete that file when I'm done compressing.

  • @marcoilic13 OMG

  • can i upload .MOV files on youtube?

  • @PunkRockerBreno yeah, I don't know if it takes every codec, but I use h.264 mov files.

  • @PunkRockerBreno

    no you can not

  • Question. After i record my video with with my camera, i put the file into my computer and use window live movie maker to make movie with it. However, it doesn't have option to save as AVI what movie maker program do you use? or do i have to save it as wmv then convert it to AVI. (which is what i did)

  • @w0sXs0w hmm that's a lot of uncompressing and recompressing, probably not good for image quality.

if you're using WMM anyway, you might just ignore my tutorial and try the HD .wmv export, that works well enough for uploading HD videos to youtube most of the time.

I don't use that technique b/c I want control over the way the video is letterboxed, and it messes with the colors slightly.

  • Tried editing video file from kodak Zi8 says file type not compatible..

  • hello, i have all this done now when, i drop the video into virtualdub. it says couldn't locate decompressor for format mp42. or it says asf files not supported.

  • ok, i have a 64 bit computer. do i do anything different? THANKS!
