  • why're people hating on this?! it's ace xD

  • WoW, this really does SUCK!!!!!!!

  • I would love to slang with any of these guys!!!

  • 12 people dont wanna slang with joe elliot.

  • I love the song, but the video could have been better.

  • LOVE IT!!!!

  • Slang is a good song, its awesome. But in my opinion, the album was not very good overall... But they did a great job on Euphoria and X after then. Too bad those albums were not known to the public here in Canada. Def Lep will always rocks in my heart

  • man rick allen is right...i sounds like a fart

  • Does anyone forget how much Pyromania was different then on through the night and high and dry ?

and how hysteria was different then Pyromania ?

Why the fuck is it a mistake changing the hysteria sound into slang..

    Slang is fucking great record!

  • Epic!

  • I love this band I wish I lived when they're we're going on tour my dad showed this band to me when I couldn't even speak but he always played it in the car

  • Can't change their sound? Hysteria was quite a change from Pyromania. Slang was a great album that allowed the group to expand and explore their musicality.

  • Great album.

  • I got this album in '98, and yes, it takes more than a couple of listens, once you have accustomed yourself to the change, it's not that much of a change, it's moving forward.

  • 2:26 , TAKE ME HOME WITH YOU JOE!

  • Lep died with steve... sorry

  • I got this album when it came out. I couldn't wait to hear the NEW sounding music. I thought it was cool and if you give it a chance. (that means listen to it more than once) you realize this album just kicks it in a different tone. Great Monster job guys.

  • on of the most underrated def leppard albums, i love Def Leppard to death and love all their music, i mean, how could you not?

  • I think this is one of Def Leppard's most underrated songs! Great song!

  • i luv the mexican in the T.V

  • underrated is not even the word.... loved the album when it came out, still love it today... Different from the rest but that just makes it stand out more... These guys are amazing!

  • all is good!

  • Kay, so it may not be Hysteria...nit even close. But to say that they can't ever deviate from that is just bad. The fact is, I beleive that Slang was a super under-rated album. I really love the older Def Leppard, and their older music sounds better. But their Slang album was far underrated, for the quality it did have.

Def Leppard shifted their sound on this album, and just because it didn't go so well, they went back to the same old thing. Which is bulls***, because this album was really good

  • I have always been a Def Leppard fan, and I always will be. :D

  • @lunnah30 Amen Brother, Amen.

  • This was where I learned how well Vivian Campbell could wear a white t-shirt.

  • This was where I learned how well Vivian Campbell could wear a white t-shirt.

  • This Song SUCKS!!!Sorry But This Aint Def Leppard Song Is Something Else.If You Can't Take it Anymore Then Quit It!!!

    A Hysteria Fan....

  • @andyrockevo ha,ha,who,knows,who,dumb,comment,dombo

  • @andyrockevo hysteria is only their 3rd or 4th best album

  • I'll always admire their drummer. He refused to let that accident stop him and to my ears he sounds better than ever.

  • Love them, Viv is sooo cute

  • This is one of my favorite songs on this album. They still rock. I just have a problem with Vivian. He has somewhat reduced himself to a rhythm guitarist. All of that talent he has, it's a shame.

  • I think they still have it and still hot too.

  • This video makes me want to jump into the computer to a different era, just flat out rock with these guys. Fvck the critics, one of the best albums of all time.

LONG LIVE THE KINGS OF ROCK DEF LEPPARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It's not my favorite, but yeah, Slang gets too much crap imo (I haven't listend to all the songs on the album though). It's not bad at all. Has Def Leppard done "Love" from Songs from the Sparkle Lounge, live anywhere? They did it live with taylor swift on the crossroads DVD and it sounded a lot better than the album version, imo. More rocky and less produced. Similar to how I prefer the hysteria live tour videos to the album versions most of the time.

  • cool

  • actually i love the experimentation a fun song to jam to

  • Everyone talks about how organic and less over produced it was...but in fact the only thing that changed was really just the Drums to Acoustic as opposed to an electric kit..The song "Slang" probably has more sample's, loops and Fxs than any other song the Leps recorded...Love it and would'nt want it any other alway

  • woow this song is sooo dirty!! lol

  • what the hell vivian...1:58...excellent song. almost rap-like but not too much that it sucks.

  • Catchy. I like the bass line.

  • By the way, pretty cool EXACTLY at 0:22, hah?

  • This song have a very special sound...

    Love It!

  • AmazinG

  • they've been good but they need steve

  • I was always under the impression that if Slang was done by another band (or if Def Leppard would have changed their name on this album) that it would have been a hit. In 1996, all bands from the 80's were looked down upon and never given a chance for redemption.

  • @dansaint2249 Well said, absolute truth.

  • A+A+A+A++++

  • the vid is weird but the song is great i love yeah i love the older stuff too but their stuff isnt bad

  • You're kidding, right? You mean, Def Leppard isn't allowed to change their sound from Hysteria ... EVER? What ever happened to bands being allowed to experiment with different sounds? And especially this one, which is way more organic and less "produced" sounding? Give me a break. This was an AWESOME effort and an incredible album ... in fact, it's my favorite, and I've been a Lep fan for 30 years.

  • @twoboysmommy1 Very well said!!! I totally agree with you...I LOVE Slang! Saw Lep in either 94 or 95 (haven't seen them in concert since) & they sound just as good-if not better! Can't wait till their next tour here near Tampa Bay, FL!

  • @twoboysmommy1 that kinda fans are called popular fans - they last as long as a bands popularity. when the band isn't No.1 anymore, these fans move somewhere else...

  • @twoboysmommy1 You are correct! I totally agree. Love this whole album.

  • @twoboysmommy1 Can only agree with ya, Slang is a massively under-rated album.

  • @twoboysmommy1 they sounded best in hysteria, why would you want to change a perfect style?

  • @twoboysmommy1 You're right. In fact, the band said this album was their most personal one.

  • this new stuff is shit, but their older stuff was amazing

  • a bit different sound from the other Lp's, but actually a great sounding album, one of my fav's. Still not a big fan of Vivian, I miss Steve!

  • i personaly think hysteria was thir best aulbm

  • i entirely agree with you there hysteria was my fav followed closely by pyromania but they have never really done a bad album

  • ain't that the truth =)

  • I'm of a slightly different opinion, I personnally believe pyromania was thier all time best and that hysteria was thier second.

  • agreed

  • People have disagreed with me heartily, but I always have felt like Slang was their best album to date, after High and Dry. I liked the departure, and Slang is the album I listen most to, besides High and Dry also.

  • Also, I remember sitting in tenth row to see them on their Slang tour and whoo. Joe was HOT during the Slang phase, hot damn.

  • Wouldn't quite go THAT far, but I do think it's a brilliant work, totally underappreciated. We definitely agree on High N' Dry but I would rate Slang highest after the first four albums.

  • i didnt think it was tht bad.....it wasnt great but it didnt suck like some people have told me......i kinda liked it (:

    go def leppard!!!!!

  • AWESOME!

  • Damn Vivian's sexy.

He can slang wth me any time he wants.

  • lol... Joejoe can shag with me girl.. oops i mean slang!! lol

  • i just wanna se joe get soakin wet..wtf he doesnt get wet ONCE in this entire video..what a crime

  • but i do love this

  • lol brandy!!! I know what ya mean!!

  • they all need to get wet, LOL

  • HELL YEAH

  • awesome

  • It was no "motorbike" accident...he was driving a Corvette.

  • I love this song

  • y is your drummer one handed

  • He thought it'd be really funny to cut it off himself, you know, really handy from playing drums and all that.

It's called sarcasm deary, and, he was in a car crash when he 21. Go read up about him, he's probably one of the most inspirational people in the music industry. His name is Rick Allen, by the way. =]

  • KUDOS TO RICK

  • He was involved in a accident long time ago, it was a motorbike accident in his hometown of Sheffeild a little place called Snake pass, he plays better now then what he did whislt having two arms, As quoted by Joe Elliott

  • This song is awsome. I love it. SLANG

  • uh huh huh he wants to get his hands dirty.

  • GREAT , ADORO DEF LEPPARD DESDE SIEMPRE./ Genial, i love def leppard , they are so amazing . VIVA ROCK , VIVA DEF LEPPARD.

  • amazing song.

  • This song is great.

  • this is almost hip hop, isn't it? I give the band credit for doing some musical experimentation, I'm sure they were tired of "Pour some Sugar". Not sure this is the right direction to go in, though.

  • I love Slang... I love all their albums. This band is amazing becuase they do evolve and all their albums have a different sound to it...they dont WANT to sound like they did in 87' they dont WANT to recreate that. I wish people wouldnt say things like it stinks or anything, its an underated album and deserves more attention.. All DL albums sound different and thats why I love them. Rock on DL !!

  • what do they mean by slang? :S

(sorry if the question seems REALLY stupid)

  • From what I understand the song is about phone sex. But thats just what I read somewhere and if it is true, then that would just mean that they have found another way to sing a song about sex. But I cant really verify it.

  • lol thanks...i thought it might of been sex :P

yea my friend dedicated this song to me, and he said this is how he feels....

  • In my opinion, since they're all married, I think it's about the fans that want to throw themselves at the band members.

  • I know a friend of mine at work doesnt really care for the band because he says they sounded to much like the 80's. I let him hear some of there older stuff and he liked that, but he hates the Hysteria era stuff because he feels it is too similar to everyone else. I told him that everyone else was trying to be similar to them.

  • absofrikkinlutely correct.

  • love def leppard fucking rock!

  • this is the most sexiest song ive ever heard from them! and this is also one of my favorites...

  • Excellent tune, slang is a very underrated album.

  • The way slang album is with or without steve would be the same, remember that in this band all band members contributed as a song writers, slang sounds like that becouse they were in middle of 90´s and was necesary to make something different and it really sounds great, slang is one of the best albums of DL, dosen´t matter if it sold less copies than hysteria, different era different music.

  • Steve *was* that band. He's the one that got them out of the spoon factory. There wouldn't have been a Def Leppard without Steve, and, as it turns out, that's exactly the way it turned out.

  • DEF LEPPARD RULZ!!!!

  • Their music DEFinately changed ~ not sure if it was Viv joining that did that but yeah there is a difference Could be just changing it up a bit to keep up with the ever changing world of music! Like I told Viv when I met them, I so appreciate him steppin' in to fill those shoes and that he has done a great job fittin' in them!

  • Well the music industry changed so much from Hysteria to Slang that it was unreal. Adrenalized was hurt by the rise of Alternative and Grunge but yet still did exceptionally well. Slang was there way of trying to do Alternative I guess it worked but it didnt work in terms of sales. I think its a great album, but then again I liked the X album too.

  • I loved Adrenalize ~ just came out at a time like you said that was hurt by the rise of grunge/alternative. Slang though was not my favorite had a few on it that I just loved like Slang (fun!) and Work It Out is one of my favorites ~ love that video!!!

  • def leppard rocks this world

  • I like this song.. But I can't compare it with songs of pyromania or hysteria.

I think (and don't offend) that Steve's death had a big influence in the change of the band style

Since Campbell joined in Def Leppard, the band style started to change became more noticeable.

I Still love their music.. but I like more the beginning of the band.

  • utterly different in style. absolutely... but Def is simply the best of any generation. imo. took me a bit to dig this but i like it. Hysteria. unequalled.

  • All i can say is that if you are a REAL Def Leppard fan you should move with the band, support them instead of how you don't like them because of this or that. There is times where i thought WHAT? but i love this band and always give a few listens to. They grow on you! DEF LEPPARD ROCKS!!!!

  • This record was one they did to try and change their sound...at the time the fans in the US didn't care much for it but the record really is great. The songs are really really good and the quality of production is one of their top three or four records... I think they did the right thing because I know they must be sick or Rock Of Ages

  • i love this song

  • One of the most kickass Def Leppard songs ever.

  • SLANG!!! en el tour slang!! DEF LEPPARD the best band all the times!!! vino a GUATEMALA!!!!

  • I'm curious, with a name like perkele, (Finnish, right? as in satana perkele?) what is wrong with symphonic metal? I love Apocalyptica as much as Hanoi Rocks, different, yes but still music...Are you Finnish?

  • I have no IDEA were you get "Finnish Symphonic Metal". Who gives shit of the original fans...its not 1984 anymore, and theres plenty pf shitty music out there so that DL is pretty much fucking awesome. I LOVE their older stuff, and I guarantee you I own more DL shit than you do. I own every album, and stuff from japan, and sound tracks. Dl has already had the established music and sales, they can do what they want-how they want, and live their creative dreams. Jealous much?

  • This is shit. The old DL ruled, but this sucks. Give me some 'Rocks Off' any day over this shite.

  • This isn't shit. It's a great song from an amazing album. If you don't like it, don't listen to it. It's fine not to like it, but it's not "shit" just because it's not like Leppard's music from 30 years ago.

I always love such insightful comments. Someone doesn't like something and it's crap or sucks. Try offering something of value next time if you're going to take the time to comment.

  • It's shit because it attracts Goths and Emos who are into crap Finnish symphonic metal. To DL's credit, they tried to evolve with the times, but by doing that they've alienated their original fans, many of whom are still stuck in 1983.

What's crap for me is good for you, it's just my opinion, asshole. I wasn't trying to be 'insightful' or any other pretention like formal analysis. And who the fuck are you to define the comments on this page?

  • Emos? Goths? DO you actually know any? Uhm how bout Type O negative? I'd say Metallica was more goth than fucking DL, and I LOVE Metallica!!maybe Marylin Manson, but gimme a break. If Def Leppard never changed they would be..oh lets see. ACDC or Quiet Riot.

  • did u know that this song was actually about phone sex!! vivian said that he didnt know about it!! DEF LEPPARD R FRICKIN AWESOME!!

  • its not right how people say slang was a bad album and only the single was good instead of bein stuck on DL's main albums(hysteria and pyromania) open up to somethin new its a rly great album and i think it needs to be givin a chance its a shame they never play these songs at their concerts anymore :,( but i love this song dont get me wrong its one of my favorites♥

  • One of Leppard's best videos & songs....

  • This is their best record...don't care what anyone says about it... every song on it is good!

  • awesome song!

  • still one of the best def leppard tracks for drivin.a good album .pay no heed of critics.if you love it CRANK IT UP TO MAX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.THE BEST IS STILL GOOD.

  • I LOVED the Slang album. Maybe I'm just a die hard fan, but as with individuals, bands grow, change, try new things. If you really love the band, you've got to give them freedom to explore new stuff. That's what make Def Lep such a kick ass band - they kept it together after Rick's accident, kept it together after Steve's death and they're STILL here, still rockin, still making great music!

  • HOT

  • Slang, Retro Active and X were terrible albums and i think lost them a lot of fans. Euphoria was back to the classic leppard sound, although they did wreak it buy doing X.

  • actually all of them are awesome albums-i understand you mean euphoria has more of the hysteria style but still slang and retro active are good

  • OMG this song rocks so much well out loud

  • Slang was a great record but they needed to make that record. It was a change for them and they wanted that and they needed and its still a good record. For all of the talk about how much people hated that record it still did better than euphoria and X.

  • This is one of their most underrated albums and I don't get why the critics hated it. Be that as it may, this is a keeper and so unlike their other albums. Hopefully, the new one is way better than X which was an absolute disaster. For imhere460 go to mp3search for 19 cent song downloads of all the Def Leppard albums that you don't have.

  • Hey, I received Sparkle Lounge today, for some reason i got it early. And I have to say its a brilliant album. It rocks heaps. It's right up there with Hysteria and Pyromania. Think of it as a modern day rendition of those albums but with more natural guitars and Joe sounds great on the album. He still hits those high notes, and I'd even say he sounds better doing them as well. Brilliant. His voice is more mature but is definitely brilliant, I think i like it better than the 80's Joe. Lep rocks!

  • I can never find Euphoria, Slang, or X in stores. WHY?! All they have is Vault and Rock of Ages and I already have them both. I think I will have to buy them off of the internet...

  • I wasn't a big fan of Euphoria, but Slang and X were good, with Slang being the best.

  • This album was so underated, one of my favorites from leppard,,,,,,awesomeeeeee,,,like all of their stuff,,,,,,

  • this song isnt very good

  • it may be confusing but the story is that the songs about phone sex

  • oh.... i so love this song. i am so in love with def leppard :P seriously, one of their best songs, even though not as popular. def leppard is the best :D

  • AMEN Belydncr!!! This album was one of the best...and no one really even knew about it. :-(

  • Ok? This song and whole album is confusing.

I hope their new album will be something to bring back even a bit of old good Leppard style.

  • I LOVED this album - never got the play it deserved!

  • I'm COMPLETELY devoted to this band.....i love EVERYTHING they've ever done. Viv's solo record rocked, can't wait for Phil and Man Raze... KICKIN ASS ALL OVER THE WORLD

  • New sounds for Def Leppard...however, the song (and the albumn) is still great. It never received the recognition it deserved - although Q magazine recognized its great new sounds and listed it as one of the top ten albumns of 1996. I WOULD LOVE DEF LEPPARD EVEN IF THEY CHOSE TO RECORD A COUNTRY ALBUMN. They are so talented!

  • um they did record some country, with the new single "nine lives". i was worried it would be bon jovi type country, but it actually still rocked

  • Thanks. I hadn't heard about "Nine Lives" until your post. I stil like "Slang", though. . . even though you don't. To each their own! lol

  • The song is Def Leppard featuring Tim McGraw not the other way around....listen to the song and make your own opinion.

  • Dude that was so not country....it was a Tim McGraw cross over into the rock genre....there is NOTHING country about the song.

  • you r right i grew up in the 80's and there first 3 albums kicked ass and when they fired pete willis that was the beginning of the end.

  • This is my favorite band. I love their old stuff and the new song (But could have done w/out Tim McGraw...oh well, it doesn't kill it at least)but this was such an underrated album...deserved more recognition.

  • I applaud the band for trying a different musical style and I like this song a lot. Despite their earlier success with the Mutt Lange stuff, in my opinion a LOT of their earlier songs sound alike.

  • I think a few people are right on here, I loved the boys all through the 80's, but i never bought an album after Adrenalize,(except for Vault) I was too into the Steve Clark era and never really took to Viv Campbell. However I still went to see them live every couple of years and had a scream. Now they are coming to Liverpool in the summer, im going to get my collection up to date, cos no matter what you think, these boys are one of the all time greats.

  • open your mind don't hate....def leppard's slang is one of the best albums, though its less old school, it shows def leppard's immense creativity.

  • Are you serious! this is not the DL we all know.what in the world happened.Don't worry DL we still love ya but PLEASE dont sing no mo like Diss.this sucks

  • i agree, i am sick of the old fools who stick to 'high and dry' or 'on through the night' and say every album after that is useless! i think EVERY album def leppard made is amazing and kicks Van Halen's or Bon Jovi's or Aerosmith's or any other overrated band in the ass. Distinctive guitar sound, great drumming (with one arm), and great melodies and riffs make this great. i am sick of the 'steve clark' crowd who only praises him. joe elliot, phil collen, rick allen/savage all do amazing job.

  • Saturday Night

  • This is one of their BEST songs...This entire record is damn good! They got away from their old sounds and tried some new stuff...Commercial success doesn't mean everything ...it is still a great record and it is ok to experiment... And they are one of, if not the single best, band of the last 30 years!

  • Sweet...I just danced my fucking ass off to this!!

  • anyone who thinks any lep songs is their worst is not a real fan!!..i love def leppard and dammit, every song they've ever recorded..so there!!!

  • I've been a Lep fan since 1978- when people in America were laughing at their name. They finally woke-up after 'High'N Dry' was released. The slow learners finally got onboard after 'Pyromania'. The greatness of this band is: #1 Their ability to reinvent themselves #2 Their courage to experiment with

new sounds/styles like 'Slang' #3 Their ability to overcome unimaginable tragedy and keep going.

This song is unique-funky-cool as hell! Thanks for posting it Choppothegreat1 !!!

  • this song is awesome but i dont think its nearly as good as there 80s stuff

  • What???? This song Rocks!!!!!!

  • s/he's saying it's a GOOD SONG

  • just saying its still a great song even though i consider it there worst not taking a shot at them

Def Leppards my alltime fav band scen I was about 9 years old

  • I consider this Leppards worst song but yet I still love it Just showes the talent they have

  • well said!

  • Def Leppard has always been awesome, but they're sounding like 'La bouche'; a 90's hip/hop group. well I've seen them in concerts recently and I'm glad they're still rockin.
