  • .and i want to say that the biggest pain was finding/rebuilding my 5-speed transmission- a 'stumpy' nissan 71C 5-speed from a 86.5-87 2WD D21 VG30 cab/chassis (yeah-try to find one). these gearboxes let you use the stock shifter hole in the 510, but they are quite rare and usually severely worn (like mine) and need new shifting parts- which can be expensive. new boxes from nissan are about $3k.

  • custom-built VG35 all-engine (VH45 pistons in a VG33) with big holley 2-barrel carb on high rise adapt/V65 manifold, billet cams to 290/370/109 and you have to advance the valve timing by swapping sprockets. got me just over 204hp 7500 rpm on my friend's stuska engine dyno (i have the printout). lots of money went into it. i could have welded up the lifters and used jesels and a crazy big cam, but i like some degree of civiltiy in my 510...how will you get that much power affordably??

  • @swimmerB0B did this engine build make you feel any regret for not having put in a DET motor? might have been a bit easier just sourcing the needed fuel injection parts?
