A federal judge found this video of Sgt Pipkin very "disturbing" and that he had enough evidence to issue a verdict without the case going to jury trial. On February 15, 2012 the City of Sparta settled out of court before it went to a Jury Trial in Federal Court on March 5, 2012. The city wanted part of the settlement to be that the entire incident be kept confidential...Tony said NO WAY! If the Fire & Police Commission did their job, this would have never got this far.
They should all get fired this goes on a lot in Sparta, WI and a lot of us are sick of being harassed by the police!. They don't give you respect. I've been disrespected by the same officer in this video he's nothing close to a respectable officer. They don't treat you with respect and most of the time assume your lying and are an utter joke to deal with and harass anyone that gives them lip or has the balls to stand up to em.
I use to live in Sparta and The Sparta Police do nothing but harass the citizens they abuse their power and do profile people. They do harass and do that to Angelini. They do lie. They've pulled my mom over for turning to fast at lights or stopping too close to people which she wasn't. They are nothing but a joke a precinct that does nothing but abuse their power and do more by disturbing the police. They have let criminals go hell the old police chief was one of the biggest coke dealers in town
Another reason why I hate police. They serve a good purpose and I'm sure there are some great cops out there but ever since high school I've noticed any...little....thing...you...do...wrong...is severly punished.
Frankly on my record I have all of 1 speeding ticket in the last 10 years but being out at the bars, just around town, hanging out with friends...I've realized most cops are scumbags.
As a Sparta Citizen I support Angelini's desire not to be harassed by police. The officer radioed he was going to do a walk-through at Angelini's as a pretense but instead asks Angelini to walk outside and then starts to question him about some supposed incident where Angelini flipped off a fellow police man. If that is not harassment, I don't know what is? And this B.S. about his right to do a walk-through. That too is just harassment. I am glad Angelini stood up for himself. Go Angelini!
I've been to his establishment only a few times, but was treated very good by both him and the staff that served me. As a bonus, the food has been nothing but excellent each time that I was there, and every time I've ordered it as "carryout".
Judging by what the video shows, he's being harassed. I get along with the officer involved and have nothing against him or any of the other officers in this city, so I'm not being preferential. Also, I thoroughly enjoy his letters to the editors.

He's a nice guy, and I know quite a few of the people who work for him. And I may be wrong, but my uncle helped him get going some years back if I remember correctly (in LAX I think). The best restaurant and nicest staff in the area. Great food, great service, and a great owner. He has a legitimate complaint with the harassing police department. There is a reason the police in Sparta can't get hired anywhere else. A lack of professionalism and proper training make for bad and over zealous police.

There's obviously a lot of history, as well as many stories both fact and fiction regarding Angelini AND the SPD. I have to ask. Is Angelini being harrassed for no reason? The SPD just randomly picked this poor, innocent man out of the entire population of Sparta and decided to torment him? OR has he "earned" the "harrassment" of the local officers? so you heard sirens in the back ground..I didn't hear any radio traffic advising Sgt Pipkin there was a another call that needed more then one officer or was higher priority!!! The siren could have been EMS, Monroe County Sheriff, Ft Mccoy Ems.
That's a reat point. AJHauser28 thinks that only Sparta police cars have sirens, no other emergency vehicles. Since he thinks that, there is no other explaination for the siren. If you try to contradict his opinion, you are wrong and may be called names. There really is no use trying to get these people to see both sides.

I think Tony is trying to prove his point about police harassment, just like his posts in the paper. The downfall to posting this on Youtube is that people can express their honest opinions back. I don't think that Tony and his supporters were aware of the fact that the citizens of Sparta would actually be against his actions and would be so vocal about this topic.

It certainly does appear to me(someone who doesnt drink,doesnt need to deal with the police department and who doesnt personally know Mr. Angelini) that he was being being asked a question and when he didnt answer to the officers liking then the visit suddenly became about something else(ie..the liqour license).Doesnt matter how many other bars you walk through and check the visit shouldnt have happened.If he did in fact flip off the other officer the other one should have went to his superior
and that superior could have dealt with it.Not to mention it should have been addressed the very day it happened not the next day.Its kind of like teaching children you dont give them punishment a day after they did something bad.

Angelini is quite the hypocrite. It is ok for him to bash the police department and send letters to the editor but when questioned about his actions, he has to lie to and say that he never flipped an officer off. Anyone that knows Tony knows the truth, no matter what comes out of his mouth. Tony feels that he can continually harass the police department but when he is asked a simple question about his actions, it becomes harassment.
What was that all about last night?...What are you flipping officers off for? Those are questions. Questions are used to ask people for information. Tony was clearly asked about his actions. The fact that he became upset then posted this video shows the fact that Tony is still trying to harass the police. If Tony really doesn't want the police attention, maybe he should stop doing things like this.
His question was an accusation as well. If Tony did indeed flip an officer off, do you really think he would lie about. What is really the big deal? Is it grounds for an arrest? If it is, it should've been done the night it happened. You and I both know that it isn't. I am certain that the officers have well seasoned ears and eyes and have seen many middle fingers, haven't you?
If the information was not relayed to a supervisor until after the bar was closed, it would be more considerate and less "harassing" to follow up with Tony at a more reasonable time. This was not a situation that required an exigent response by the police. Flipping people off is not putting anyone in harms way. I'm sure that if this would have been investigated at Tony's residence after the bar had closed, there would be a complaint about the police waking his family.

He did not follow up on the complaint from his officer until the next day.... so to me that means that there was other calls for service that where more concerning that night... also if you read TheJackschidt comment "This was not a situation that required an exigent response time." If Sgt Pipkin really was harassing Tony he could of went straight to his house and woke the whole family up to address Tony's actions.....
Prioritize?? That is exactly what was done here. It was not handled the night of the occurrance most likely because it was later reported to a supervisor. I have read the headlines. Sparta doesn't quite receive the headlines that Chicago receives. The police are making Sparta better place to live and raise children. A federal judge found this video of Sgt Pipkin very "disturbing" and that he had enough evidence to issue a verdict without the case going to jury trial. On February 15, 2012 the City of Sparta settled out of court before it went to a Jury Trial in Federal Court on March 5, 2012. The city wanted part of the settlement to be that the entire incident be kept confidential...Tony said NO WAY! If the Fire & Police Commission did their job, this would have never got this far.

As a Sparta Citizen I support Angelini's desire not to be harassed by police. The officer radioed he was going to do a walk-through at Angelini's as a pretense but instead asks Angelini to walk outside and then starts to question him about some supposed incident where Angelini flipped off a fellow police man. If that is not harassment, I don't know what is? And this B.S. about his right to do a walk-through. That too is just harassment. I am glad Angelini stood up for himself. Go Angelini!

I've been to his establishment only a few times, but was treated very good by both him and the staff that served me. As a bonus, the food has been nothing but excellent each time that I was there, and every time I've ordered it as "carryout".
Judging by what the video shows, he's being harassed. I get along with the officer involved and have nothing against him or any of the other officers in this city, so I'm not being preferential. Also, I thoroughly enjoy his letters to the editors.

The best restaurant and nicest staff in the area. Great food, great service, and a great owner. He has a legitimate complaint with the harassing police department. There is a reason the police in Sparta can't get hired anywhere else. A lack of professionalism and proper training make for bad and over zealous police.

how often r police officers supposed 2 do walk throughs or check liquor licenses? if they care about this town they would do it more frequently instead of when they get a bug up there ass about a restaurant owner who only wants whats good 4 this town geten these scum out of here . our men in uniform dio more 4 this town by pratrolling the bars and making sure there safe, and im talking about our FORT McCOYS SP weve seen them more than our own police in the downtown area.

I would like to just put in my two cents I don't think I have ever talked to Tony except maybe in his resturant when he asked the family how things were. To me he is just like everyone else in town, A businessman. I moved to this town from cashton about 12 yeas ago. Raising a family here has showed me that this town is run the old way and change is not considered. I will admit I voted for Tony because this town needs fresh blood. There is to much favoritism in the government. Change is needed.

I think Tony is trying to prove his point about police harassment, just like his posts in the paper. The downfall to posting this on Youtube is that people can express their honest opinions back. I don't think that Tony and his supporters were aware of the fact that the citizens of Sparta would actually be against his actions and would be so vocal about this topic.

Ok so let me get this straight? You're angry because he came into the bar legally - to talk to Toni about a situation - Toni did not want to discuss it because??? I don't know but his face seemed to say "I DID IT" but thats just me and its just an opinion. So then when Toni wouldn't talk to the officer - he decided when he was there to do a business check. A legitimate business owner would see no problem with it. A NORMAL person without a temper problem would switch his demeanor as well.

It certainly does appear to me(someone who doesnt drink,doesnt need to deal with the police department and who doesnt personally know Mr. Angelini) that he was being being asked a question and when he didnt answer to the officers liking then the visit suddenly became about something else(ie..the liqour license).Doesnt matter how many other bars you walk through and check the visit shouldnt have happened.If he did in fact flip off the other officer the other one should have went to his superior

Angelini is quite the hypocrite. It is ok for him to bash the police department and send letters to the editor but when questioned about his actions, he has to lie to and say that he never flipped an officer off. Anyone that knows Tony knows the truth, no matter what comes out of his mouth. Tony feels that he can continually harass the police department but when he is asked a simple question about his actions, it becomes harassment.

The fact that he became upset then posted this video shows the fact that Tony is still trying to harass the police. If Tony really doesn't want the police attention, maybe he should stop doing things like this.

If it is, it should've been done the night it happened. You and I both know that it isn't. If the information was not relayed to a supervisor until after the bar was closed, it would be more considerate and less "harassing" to follow up with Tony at a more reasonable time. This was not a situation that required an exigent response by the police. Flipping people off is not putting anyone in harms way. I'm sure that if this would have been investigated at Tony's residence after the bar had closed, there would be a complaint about the police waking his family.

He did not follow up on the complaint from his officer until the next day.... so to me that means that there was other calls for service that where more concerning that night... also if you read TheJackschidt comment "This was not a situation that required an exigent response time." If Sgt Pipkin really was harassing Tony he could of went straight to his house and woke the whole family up to address Tony's actions.....

Prioritize?? That is exactly what was done here. It was not handled the night of the occurrance most likely because it was later reported to a supervisor. I have read the headlines. Sparta doesn't quite receive the headlines that Chicago receives. The police are making Sparta better place to live and raise children. My children don't need to see people, especially business owners, flipping anyone off! Police officers or not.
