If Yall wanna see an experienced Color Guard you should look up "Boyd County Marching Band Russell Comp."- that's this years show. or "Boyd County Marching Band Regionals" -that's last years. Their guard is amazing! and their music is really good too! They got 15th in the state of kentucky this year.
keep on your serously going to hurt urself..... we have those flags at my school but we use them only for visual effect not for an acutall routine , thats dangueras
larger flags like those aren't meant to do complicated moves that you can do with smaller flags, they are usually used to just swing above you back and forth for visual effect.
these flags are so awesome looking when a bunch are used back field.... my band used giant purple ones with reflective patches on them... pretty awesome effect... and we refer to them as "Wonga Poles" haha :)
10 foot flags are really only for visual effect.. there made to pop of the field, not to spin.. reasons being: its really to big to do a whole lot of movement, or any tossing with, the pole is so long that every time it begins or ends a movement it bends and wobbles giving an unclean appearance to anything you do with it, and it's just so big. I really can't stress that enough. I cite 0:27.
we had to use one of those flags in field season....those are hard. your good with it though. and to the bhsmalecolorguard, its called big flags, its supposed to be with PVC pipe.
omg my my rookie year in marching band my marching band used flags this big for fire of enternal glory for our " hot " show they were pure white..and at the end the guard ran to back field holding them up.. about 10 members of the band would always get hit by them.. me included.. it made me fall on the ground once during practice :( ..we can't use them anymore..they too expensive and our guard is too big to buy new ones
this just gave me an idea. imagine an enire marching band holding these, but in brights pure lit silver in the sun, lol like blinding the hell out ogf the entire field.............lol and then all of them spinning them at once. thad would be the coolest start for a show lol
that flag is too big to even toss and i saw it bending so i am assuming that you didnt use a proper pole. the routine was a lil too simple but that is a good start.
@bhsmalecolorguard WTF! I bought the 10ft PVC pipe pole that goes with the 6ft flag! The pole is meant to be light b/c if it wasnt it would be tooo heavy to move it around. DUH!
he did use the proper type of pole, you're sposed to use 10 ft pieces of pvc pipe. pvc pipe is typically flexible so it doesn't break. it was SUPPOSED to be a big flag.
@bhsmalecolorguard some guards buy the tall metal poles that the company sells, but alot of guards use PVC bc its cheaper and more readily accessible. Usually we keep 1' for the girls to spin with, we never really do tosses, just carves and such.
@bhsmalecolorguard you dont use poles with 10 ft flags? it has to bend considering usually in competitions they're used while running across the field. they're not meant to have a lot of work written for them. obviously, they're too big to control or even do dropspins with, so duh you arent supposed to toss them.
DAYYYYYYYYYUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMM THAT FLAG IS HUGE lol i do not wanna drop that on my nose lol the biggest flag my schools got is 6 foot with a 6 foot silk and its for winterguard lol

Well, that flag LOOKS cool...but it's easier to do cooler stuff with it with a SMALLER flag. Go smaller flags!
