@DancingSpiderman At 8:20 the kartuun people coulda showed the reticent weener flipping and diving into a tight, waiting fortune cookie. They prolly did not think about the weenie- fortune cookie bit because I have yet to see fortune cookies being sold at a moovee concession stand.
I couldn't help but laugh at the motionless response of the 'cup o butter', next to the popcorn bag, after he's poured. He was never quite the same after that. lol
But seriously, this was before my time, but I have extreme appreciate for the great animation, and whimsical view of people going to happily purchase their snacks. It makes me want popcorn right now-badly!
@audiobuff2 hey, buddy! Any chance of Reuploading that rare and amazing piece of nostalgia!? Rapidshare are quite harsh bout containing files for a long time. try MediaFire or something like that. would be So nice of you if u could tell us when its up and running :D cheers!
The fun nights at the drive in. Never thought it would end. My Mom would make it extra fun for us. She would bring the Hershey mini and the big bag of jiffy pop and our own sodas so we would not have to go to the snack bar. We could watch the whole 10 minutes of the snack foods. The memory it brings back to me. Where's my Delorean?
I truly & dearly miss all this stuff. I was born in '71 & kinda witnessed the decline of the drive-in. The younger generation doesn't understand how drive-ins weren't just a movie, but an experience & a family event. What I ask, could be better than being out under the stars, laying in the back of a pick-up truck, with your siblings, snuggled up in blankets, munching pop corn, waiting for it to get dark/show to star? Some drive-ins even had swing-sets & such for kids, so we'd arrive early.
When I was little, we went to the drive in movies and where we went, there were two movie screens. I can remember this intermission ad. This was the early and mid 70s. They had a playground for the children.I love watching the movie Gease to see this part with the ice cream cups and then the hot dog and the bun while John Travolta sings Sandy
Watch all of the minute worth of fillers for each intermission and at least it's more interesting than picture quiz shows and with the new Cinemark preview stuff surpasses it in terms of presentation, but it is nice to stare at.
I agree 100% We still have an active one here where I live and its ALWAYS full. Good all american fun. When going to a movie was a grand event or at the very least, an event for the whole family.friends..Hope they keep making a comeback...Like you said...we NEED stuff like this now more than ever.
Wow. This takes me back to 1972 or so, when I was maybe 10 years old. I actually don't remember what the movies was, but this 10-minute cartoon was so exciting. I just remember being at the concession window constantly looking over my shoulder to check the time. The images of people sprinting in a circle from snack window back to their cars was the real entertainment. But then, I was only 10 years old so at this time!!
Also, if you'd like a copy of this on DVD, there's a beautiful print on Vol. 1 of the "Drive-In Discs Collection" put out by Elite Entertainment (you can buy these discs individually on eBay & Amazon).....
i used to see this for years at the drive in i go to, sadly over the years the intermission real wore out and now all thats left of the original intermission reel is 30 seconds of the hotdog jumping into the bun, along with splices from a bunch of other intermission reels, its charming to find a video of the original intermission real i remember for all these years, although the colors seem off from what i remember, maybe due to scanning...or fading from the reel i remember.
I could be wrong, but I've been all over APM's website and checked out the links to all the major music libraries (Chappell, KPM, Bruton, Carlin, DeWolfe, etc.), but I'm not finding this track on any of them.....Could it be from Capitol Record's Hi-"Q" series?
If anyone happens to know, I'd like to know the source (which production music library it comes from) and name of the music track that plays from 1:06 to 3:05...Thanks!
I've actually saw this in a drive-by theatre not long ago. I saw "Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas" in 2003 at a drive-by theatre near my cousin's house and when the movie finished, this played.
We used to have a drive-in in my city. My dad told me how his family often went there, he recalls seeing "The Incredible Mr. Limpet" and "Winnie-the-Pooh and the Honey Tree" there. Unfortunately they tore down the drive-in before I was born.
Thanks! I was so lucky to find this, as I was looking for this particular one. My cousin and I used to laugh at the hotdog refusing to get in the bun. This is the first time I've seen this since we used to go to the drive-in back in the 60's and 70's.
Our drive in plays these adds from the "Grease drive in". I bent the ear of the owner enough that he finally had a car show at the drive in.
The movie for the first show... Grease. It was awesome seeing a bunch of old classic cars at the drive in. I only wish I could have done more to keep the shows going
Awesome memories of childhood .. going to the drive-in we would always play on the swingset at the front of the parking lot. I met a lot of kids there. It was great.
I own a 35mm print of this, and right now it's the absolute jewel of my 35mm collection. This might be THE greatest long form intermission clock ever produced. Thanks for posting it!
Thank you for posting this!I had been searching for this forever! Parts of this reel is shown in Grease, where John Travolta is singing, "Sandy." Thanks!
If youre ever in central Illinois, check out Sky-view drive in. One of the last (maybe THE last) drive in on Old route 66. Its in Litchfield, about 50 miles north on I-55 of St louis and 60 miles south of Springfield. they still show this at intermission.
