Damn this is bad.. luckily she has improved a lot since then. She sounds so much better live now. But she seriously shouldnt sing the old songs anymore, thats my opinion. Because they were just not made for her...she really sucks in singing them and if they keep playing the old songs, people will keep comparing ALL the fucking time, even after 20 years, because we have heard these songs sung by the best... Never will we forget the unique, epic and magical sound of Nightwish with Tarja.... =)

@LordKurthnega46 Wrong. Tarja is better than Anette. The main thing about singing ability is to sing on tune. Anette is very often out of tune. Before we can compare the singing and voice style, we must stop and listen if they sing out of tune or not.

People are way too hung up on the comparison. No one is going to sound exactly like Tarja. I love Anette. She's adorable and she is an amazing singer. She performed this song INCREDIBLY well. I've seen her in concert twice, and I've been pleased each time with the old songs and with the new.

I think she far outperforms Tarja live. Much less pitchy and less boring.

Well, I like it. She got the notes, and it is one of their angrier songs, so her voice suits it. It is a low-quality audio recording, but decent compared to some on here! O___O

Just don't listen to them if you don't like it. I know it's not the original, but I think it's good. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Something like "popish voice" doesn't exist - pop singer is a singer who sings pop songs (yeah, Amaranth is a pop-rock - but it's not Anette's fault -.-'). @Skellaish Of course the pop sound is not only caused by the voice. But her voice, together with the instrumental part, brings a pop kind of style to the songs. So yes, that change it's caused by the voice, since the instrumental part was already set.

Also, the voice itself is more suited to sing pop than synphonic metal. I mean there is not a good match between the voice and the rest.
