My grandma died when I was basic training last February and it brings great joy to my heart to listen to this song now because this song was the song her and I use to listen to all the time on tape in the car with the windows down singing our hearts out. I miss her but she's never far away. I hear this song and I can feel her singing this song with me.
Im 15, and i can say without a doubt, this is one of the greatest tracks ive ever heard.. So much better than the music that comes out today.. This piece is a gem, no one appreciates masterpieces like this!!
This was our gang song few years back in golden times . We loved to listen to it in every get together we had, every fun moment we performed. still I cherish this song everytime I hear these glamorous lyrics with Bobby Blands strong voice. Long Live ''Members''
My dad passed 2years ago and whenever I want to feel him I can play songs that he loved. This reminds me of riding in his car with him playing his blues.
I'm 26 and my aunts and uncles used to play this. I loved this song. I make my kids listen to it now, instead of this nonsense they call music now. Real meaning about life. It just reminds me of the good days when the family got together and had a good time with no worries and no problems. I miss those days.
i'm only 23 but my grandma always played this song at every single party when i was little comin up in the 90's and i just became addicted to the blues especially this particular song man i miss the parties my grandma had with this song playin...

Those who have never heard Bobby Bland have missed out on one of the best, his voice is impossible to describe without lapsing into seeming contradictions. For example, it's both smooth as silk and rough as sandpaper. It must be heard. Equally impressive, Bland always seem to have a deeply intuitive understanding of the songs he sings. (In a sane world, everyone would know Bobby Bland and his work.) ~peace
The first few times I listened to this song it was incredibly sad to me. I was like I understand completely. Then a few weeks ago I put Jesus there instead of a man. I imagined Jesus saying this to me and it was more like a love song to me. Instead of a bunch of depressed people getting together it changed to Jesus comforting me. It was like he was saying, "It's alright here let me hold you."
The Lost I imagined lost/members of family and friends who have died. Jesus is holding me. Rocking me.
Back in the day at KINGSMEN gun club on Buckner Rd.(wentzville, Mo next door to Chuck Berrys house), I remember my mom, dad, aunties and uncles dancing to this very song. Back when the kids could come sit and be seen, but not heard. I knew from then I LOVED THIS SONG. MEMBERS ONLY how true!!

This song just floods my memory with images of my home boys and girls from the 70s who are now dead and gone.....i love this song but at the sametime it makes me sad and lonley for my homeboys/girls. I never knew until now that i loved them as much as i do. We had so much fun in Newark,NJ just chillin back in the 70s and 80s. These days i can't find that anywhere. I miss the good old days when people were happier and more carefree. Thanks for posting this song it made me come to a standstill.
@ MsClassof89 I feel for your lost and I can relate there aren't 2 many family members like that anymore as long as this song is in your memory so will Uncle Bug will be in your heart.
My husband died suddenly in 1997 after we had been married for 33 years. Shortly after his death I was in my husbands car looking over the Atlantic Ocean feeling so alone and lonely. I happened to look into the glove compartment of the car and I came upon a tape with this song on it, it was so beautiful and I had never heard it before. Shortly after that, I sold the car and forgot to keep the tape, and I didn't know who the artist was either. Thank you so much for giving this song back to me.
@canelamujer I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for your well wishes. I still miss my husband (my baby) but God is with me and He keeps me strong. Love to all.

I think this song touched a lot of people going through the same things in life. Bobby Blue Bland seems to know how to hit it just right!! These are the old school type songs that you can feel and flow in!! Thank you Bobby "Blue "Bland for sharing this song with the world!!
So many memories.... I always knew those days would come to an end... but I never wanted them too... missing those special people who made this song have meaning for me!

Wow everytime I hear this song I reflect back on my GOD Mother blasting her Stereo on A Friday night Lol years later in the late 80's early 90's me and my Homies blasting the same song singing off key
This is one of the best songs Bobby B sang, I didn't understand it when my parents played it, When I was younger. As I have gotten older and been through some things I understand it better now!!
I saw Bobby perform this song twice. Once in the old Mosque in Richmond and also in Cleveland when he was opening for BB. Robin's egg blue silk bazer, cigarette smoke swirling around his head as he came out. Man, that was a night. People don't know what he did for the blues. His songs spoke to the simple needs and feelings of the people. Thank the good Lord I saw it in person. Love ya, 55 year old white guy in Dallas.
@phartattack this is probably my first comment on youtube ever, but it strikes me as odd that you are able to feel the beauty of the blues while at the same time neglecting the poetic nature of a metaphorical use of the word "tons" for quantity. it is so simple that it has indeed been incorporated into everyday language. "tons" just adds more significance to a statement by adding a certain sense of (unmeasurable, yes) weight. overused? maybe. but nobody is talking physics here. thanks 4 the song
@phartattack ton is recognised in the dictionary as and informal term for "A large extent, amount, or number. Often used in the plural". so it's actually correct, keep your ignorant opinions to yourself.
This was my Uncle Bug's favorite song. He died not too long after it came out. I remember him with a cigarette dangling from his bottom lip with a little somethin to sip on his eyes closed rocking backk n forth with the rhythm telling Bobby to "sang it". Uncle Bug was one of those uncles who didn't judge or fuss at you when you messed up. He'd just spit that ol' skool wisdom that let you know he KNEW what he was talking bout cuz he'd been there. Miss him sooooo much.
I LOVE THAT SONG IT BRING BACK OLD MEMORIES FROM WAY BACK THEN. THAT'S MY THEME SONG WILL NEVER GO OLD. ALWAYS HAVE IN HEART AND MINE. LOVE YOU BOBBY!!!!!!! LOVE CHRISTINA GIBSON FROM NEW ORLEAN LA.
Members Only It's a Private Party Don't Need No Money 2 Qualify!!! Damn I missed those days I use to go by my grandma and she would play this song over and over I think she had it on one of them records that looked like a flying saucer
Nine people killed themselves because they realized their lifelong love of Bieber was meaningless after hearing a good song, and their heads hit the dislike button as they collapsed on the keyboard.
@dyconst Are you looking for the album or just want the song? its's on the "Members Only" Album haaaaa. There are a lot of recordings and videos of him performing the song live too.
Reminds me of when I used to work on Jukeboxes in the great states of Mississippi,Tennessee,La and Alabama, Learned alot about life"down in the Delta" Hwy49, Hwy 61, Still love anything on the Malaco and Stax labels.
@jfilms17 Next time you see him tell him we listen to him at our members only club in San Antonio, TX. Club is called 55 & Over club. You don't really have to be over 55 but most folks in there are.
I remember hearing these song when my father was a live. He loved this, riding in the back seat with my older brother. While he was driving and our mom is sitting up front with him. He would say "
