@govermantcheese I hear 'ya. I remember standing lookout watch up on the flying bridge on the Storis and looking UP at the top of a wave. Nothing like 40 foot seas in the Bering in January. Fun times !!!
"Nasty" weather? You've got to be kidding. First, if it was "nasty," you wouldn't be able to be walking through the aircastles like this, the weather decks would be secured. Not to put too fine a point on it, but only a boot would call this nasty. If there was green water up to the overhead on this level as the ship rolled port and starboard, THAT would be 'nasty.'
If you notice at 1:06 you can see the brow dodger with the hull number WHEC 720, this is the CGC Sherman, and trust me those are not really rough seas. When it is really bad you can't go on the wather decks below the 01 level
this is NOTHING ! not rough ! Think you better look up other CG ships in the bearing and get your bearing lol ..... try MUNRO Bering sea or SPAR

Those seas are nothing. Must have been your first time to sea. I was on a 180 and it was common for us to be in 20 foot to 30 foot seas in AK.
