  • 10-03-99 was Simchas Torah. So this concert, assuming it was at night, was Motzei Simchas Torah...

  • 4:00 for Avenu

  • The actual translation:

Our Father, Our King, be gracious with us and answer us, though we have no worthy deeds; treat us with charity and kindness, and save us.

  • good points guys. IMO this and all of their music, and treys inspiration all more pieces of the puzzle, in my mind, and this is no "accident"...he was clearly given a gift, and sent here by the BIG GUY!!

  • ok, i've already commented on this vid, but whatever...in reference to the above comment, i'm a convinced atheist, but this song and a handful of others in the phish catalog are the closest i've ever had to a genuine religious experience. how a human, who is in most ways like all of us, could write this is just beyond me. i damn near cry almost every time i hear this, it just may be the most beautiful piece of music ever written.

  • 4:13--4:15...Try & Mike are like synchronized swimmers in walking up to the mic

  • Whats with the postions? who is who out there

  • Traslation:

    Our Father Our King

    Hear our prayer

    We have sinned before thee

Have compassion upon us and upon our children

Help us bring an end to pestilence, war, and famine

Cause all hate and oppression to vanish from the earth

Inscribe us for blessing in the book of life

Let the new year be a good year for us

  • haha, forgot about the one i saw on 7-4-2000, but my wife still wants to get her 1st!

  • my best friend played this on acoustic as the processional for my wedding last year, and it still gets me misty damn near every time i hear it. still waiting for my first live one, come on boys!

  • Grateful Dead / GOD = same thing, isn't it?

  • haha, funny. No I was was saying G-D as in GOD. Not to say that I know that there is a GOD but, Im pretty sure there is, as I have had moments that I felt its presence in numerous situations.

  • This is so great! And in 5/4 time, yet... kind of like Brubeck meets Lewandowski!

  • i feel like I've been to Mike's Bar Mitzvah! ;-)

  • Maybe my favorite Phish song, a rare gem. Gorgeous from start to finish. And since Gordon and Fishman are both jewish, TMWSIY leading in and out of Alvenu Malkenu is also very nice. Shalom!!!

  • Beautiful.

  • B"H

  • My first show. Was Page side as well on the floor not too far off the rail.

Take out the spaces and you have the download link to this show, Noobs

  • I love the Hebrew songs. Im not a jew, but being a Christian you have to appreciate these songs as songs that are delightful to G-Ds (ears?, if we are trully made in his image) Actually I think most of Phish's music is delightful to the Lord. He probably is hoping he got lucky with the ticket lottery.

  • @patchkid2001... sooo youre saying the Grateful Dead is the Lord?

  • @patchkid2001 ...yes, very delightful to the Grateful Deads ears

  • @patchkid2001 small reminder, it is Jew, not jew just as it is Christian, not christian.

  • greatt video dude

i cant tell if trey is epic stoned or just really into the guitaring

  • anyone have a download for this???

  • Totally forgot I was at this show. Ha! Anyone have a link to a download? This goes into BBFCFM, insane!!

  • this band is just amazing.....kolah kah vod Phish!!!!

  • @abax03 Haha! Kol ha'kavod (kol=all, ha=the, kavod=honor)

  • and Paige !!!!!

  • look at trey's face how he is so careful about playing in sequence with mike

  • WOW --- :)

  • getting there without drugs = better overall experience............in my humble opinion

  • music iz drugs, i agree

my later phish shows were much more enjoyable

    once i got the message

  • Mike and Fish are Jewish.

  • isn't mike jewish?

  • great video. Just wonder if the guys knew what it meant in Hebrew or when the prayer is used. I remember when I saw Phish in 1995 or 1996 with my sister. They played this song and we both looked at each other and laughed. 19,000 people rocking to this song. Pretty amazing.

  • What do you mean? Is the second part Hebrew or something?

  • The whole song is hebrew. Avienu Malkanu means Our Father, Our King. It's said during some of the morning minyan services and during the High Holy Days.

  • @RaddNiner I see you wrote this a while back but yes the words avenu malkeinu are "Our Father Our King" and there is a beautiful verse that talks about being saved....

  • And the old stage set-up....

  • LACHIEM!!!!!!

  • rosemont horizon 99 set II

  • are there any versions of this acoustic? This would be gorgeous on acoustic guitar

  • This is the only captured version of this song on this site - many thanks

  • i love this song so much. It makes me cry every time i hear it or see this vid

  • Trey always knew how to make the quieter music sound pretty

  • this is definatly a gem.

  • One of my favorite pieces of music on Earth.
