I had one of those machines until recently tried to get parts which are non-existent but now i've brought an series-5, brillant machine and picture. I'm mainly after tapes now.
awesome continuity. They don't make them like that anymore - except for in the Faroe Islands' Kringvarp Føroya. There you will find similar continuity, although they sometimes go modern
Wow, I like your old U-Matic VTR! I worked on one a little older than that once! Lately I have been watching all of the videos with the BBC clock and the circle of dots that I can find!
Hi again. I have bumped into an ex-teacher from my school who was there c1971 -76 and he recalls a video machine there too which pre-dayes the Umatic. In 1971 they saved and saved for a 2" B&W reel to reel VTR which was used with the B&W camera I have upstairs, to do mock job interviews. I was astonished and amazed, keeping in mind the cost of that stuff and the recent introduction of colour television. I will do a museum video of the stuff I scrounged, I'll keep you posted.
It's a nice story. in 2001 I was friendly with the caretaker who left it by the skip where I found it as I looked there each day. It surfaced from under the stage with 20 tapes which had all the signs of being out of service since 1983 due to a jammed eject lock. 1971 model VO1810. A teacher drove it home for me because it is 35 KG. It records and plays but has a tracking lock issue. The uploads came from my newer series 5 machine.
