HELL YEAH POKE THAT SHARK!!!! dam dude nice vid where are you diving? i live on maui and mostly have used a 3 prong just bought a gun and id like to know wheres the best place for go
need to take it out more, just bought the head strap mount... sometimes with camera mounted on the gun when loading, camera gets in the way. want to make sure you dont snap camera off mount or put too much stress on camera when loading bands. check out gopro cameras and look at all the accessories.... keep postin videos... love 'em. keep in touch
i use the gopro hd, standard housing. no issues so far. mounted to gun, no problems, great video. of course water visibility and conditions would all change image quality. nice video man.. love the editing, and the sharpness, i've posted this video on many of my friends pages.. appreciate good footage like this... what software are you using to edit the videos... i live in South FL, check out the video i posted couple weeks ago testing out my gopro on my riffe 2x. highly recommend gopro hd.
I have the gopro hd with the wp housing. it works good and you just have to attach a ss bracket to your gun. mine attaches under the reel bracket. If you look at other gopro videos you will notice that the edge to edge clarity is poor. they are comming out with a wp housing with a sq lense that is suspose to eliminate the blurryness. I would wait till then.should be on the market soon. Check out the "ono breakoff" thats what happens wen breakaway gets tangled in bungies an overcrimping the line

@mauidivah brah, i loved the video. i'm on the big island and have good conditions. I hit a couple of ono last yr and came off...such a bummer. But mahi are just now showing up. Keep up the good videography, your buddy does awesome! i got a gopro camera, what u use?
@bill382008 I use a Sony HDR SR-8 with an Amphibico Dive Buddy Housing. The only problem with this kind of set up is that you can't shoot fish. I thought about buying a HD GoPro camera mounted to a gun to get the "down the barrel" angle. How do you like your GoPro?
@fishtankbank Relax your body and rest your forehead in the sand for a couple seconds. This helps slow my heart rate and therefore my oxygen consumption, allowing for a longer bottom time. Dive safe.
@PortstewartSurfer You need to learn how to equalize properly. The air pocket behind your ear drum compresses under pressure creating an vacuum drawing it inward. Carefully equalizing by adding air to this pocket will alleviate your pain by allowing equal pressure to both sides of the ear drum.
@PortstewartSurfer hi, try pinching your nose and blow gently (nose) that will equalize the pressure in your ears. if you feel pain ascend. i`m not a pro. this is what works for me. in time you will learn to equalize naturally. be safe and set your limits. hope somehow i helped you. google beginner freediving. or join deeperblue or spearboard there are lots of info there.

@woogedy spearfishing is way much better than longlinining, gill netting, shark finning, dynamite fishing, poison fishing and raising animals in god knows what condition then butchering them later. i hope you are not eating any defenseless creature that god created. btw plants are creatures too (one of gods defenseless creation) fact: for every kilo of shrimp hauled 30 kilos (or more) of bycatch is thrown back dead or dying. thanx for sharing this video @mauidivah :)
Wow..!!!..How long can you hold your breath..?? Such a gracefull diver that you are... I need to try that next time I have the opportunity.... Excellent diver, too...
Thanks for the comment. Our average dive time is around 1min 45sec. Anything beyond that doesn't seem to help anyways. As a cameraman I appreciate a diver who realizes when a fish isn't going to come in, goes back to the surface, and dives down into a better hiding spot.
@BMTH4evafy 1 min 30 is usually all you need here in Maui and is a good dive time. When your dive time plateaus it is time to try to tweak your dive style. Possibly focusing on a better decent by keeping your body relaxed for a second or two before you reach the bottom (almost in a state of slumber). Another trick I learned from some top spear fishermen/women is to relax your neck muscles by resting your head on the sand when on the bottom. Thanks for the comment and dive safe.
@mauidivah yeah okayy your sand technique sounds funny but yeah i'll deffinately give it a try and also i'll relax before i get to the bottom see if it works for me. thank you for the help much appretiated. dive safe aswell and have a blast next dive(:
Hey, you made a great video BTW but i have a question or two. the kyak is a great idea but what kind of kyak is it i liked that live well, and What is rent like for a studio in hawaii...
We use a Scupper Pro Kayak, the model with "tank well" back and "hatch" front. The open area in the behind the seat is perfect for your dive gear bag, and the hatch front is perfect for a fish bag with ice.
Usually we anchor our kayaks if the water is 70 ft. or shallower, otherwise we tag up straight to out kayaks. When anchoring be careful for current, the current could separate you from your kayak. Hope this answers your question.
The best way that I've found to dive longer is to relax. Dive with slow purposeful movements, any erratic movements raise the heart rate, and inturn shorten bottom time. Keep in mind that breath hold spearfishing is inherently dangerous and could lead to death, always dive with a partner.

I believe anxiety is a free divers worst enemy and that being as comfortable as possible in the underwater environment is key. Once comfortable movements become less forced and more natural.
