The problem with post-Midge Ultravox is that the classic lineup set the standard so so so high there's just no chance of getting even close - o matter how hard they try. By any standards tzhis is an absolutely OK song, well written, well sang and produced, good lyrics - but it's got to be compared to, say, Hymn or The thin wall - and it stands no chance :(
Wow, this video looks quite expensive. Must have been a hip thing to add those VR-helmets too. Well, I bet they make your head ache for sure, they are monstrous. This song sounds though like an eurovision drop-out...
Hey, could you please upload the rest of the tracks on this album. There were some great songs on this and if I can remember correctly it was very well produced. Pity it wasn't more succesful.
went to see them in london at the time the venue escapes me , very famous gona kick my self when i remember , not a bad show , small venue, but nothing too special as a gig
Con l'uscita di M. Ure gli Ultravox si sono comunque ritagliati un degno successo,se non altro grazie al grande B. Currie,più che alle voci di T. Fanelle in questo video e S. Blue dopo.
I like ultravox but this sounds like a song made for a movie like the never ending story or something like that, cheesy airy whiney...they should have gone forward from vienna somehow they seem to have lost direction, sad they did have some great songs.
Hi Blitzspeer. This wasn't like old Ultravox because at this point in the band, only one original member (Billy Currie, keyboards) remained - the most famous lineup had long-since split up. It's not real Ultravox. Billy just owned the name and released a couple of albums cashing in on the name.
The most famous lineup - Midge Ure, Billy Currie, Chris Cross and Warren Cann are now back together playing reunion gigs all over the place - check your favourite ticket website for details.
I was huge Mudge Ure/UVox fan...and I still thought this was an excellent track and that Tony did an amazing job taking on a tricky job...not easy to follow Midge Ure. I also thought the album 'Revelation' was very solid and had a couple of GREAT songs...'Perfecting the Art of Common Ground' was and still is an excellent song ! IMHO I think perhaps the music scene had changed...another time and they would have been very successful.
I was the manager at the time...it was a great band but to be honest Tony was not the right person to work alongside Billie, but it was a good album, however the label was not quite right and never really could get this album off the ground..shame. But we all had a lot of fun and it was lovely to have the sexy Paula Hamilton in the video, which was infact the 1st thing she did when she made her come back
Yes, I like this song, but not SO different from the other pop songs as the OTHER Ultravox songs I linked so much. I think Billy's voice is great, but I also prefer a little more Midge's one. But what I really missed here the strong synth sounds, which made the old Ultravox song so different from others. It needed only 1-2 seconds to recognise an UVox song, it was SO special.
but I don't know - I guess it's the style of this song as well. It's that kinda cheesy 90s power ballad that epitomises the generic sound of some 90s music.
I like Tony's voice...but I have to say that the Revelation just didn't overwhelm me like some of Ultravox's earlier stuff, which I find quite sad. But that's just my opinion, which I'll likely get flamed for.
I dont flame people for opinions...I have mine and others have theirs...I do agree with previous comments about Billy should have changed the name of band...I like the song and Tonys voice...but u r correct it's NOT Ultravox..so, no flaming from me...:-)
I was not annoyed at all, just that I managed both Ultravox and Asia for a period of time, and some members played in both bands and geoff Downes was in Yes for Drama...just amazing you spotted something similar.
Thats purely conjecture at this point...I love Midge with all my heart and soul..yes, he might have sang it better, but, imo, totally different style...I think it would have been a completely different song, awesome it would have been, but give Tony some credit, he had huge shoes to fill..LOL..and i think he does have a nice voice...Midge is indeed the best singer on the planet, but some songs arent meant for him to sing...cheers to Midge and Tonyxxxx
Soy un fan de Ultravox desde su primer disco hasta el último, y Midge Ure es uno de mis artistas favoritos. Celebro también esta etapa de Ultravox. Muy buena canción.
i agree with those points....not quite Ultravox, but it was a damn good try. both the Fenelle and Sam Blue era Uvox failed to ignite didn't they. Billy probably should have avoided the band name, but i guess he was either looking for a bit of commercial success, or else to try and prove to Midge that the brand could survive without him, as it had when John left of course. oh well, some good material on both Revelation and Ingenuity in my humble opinion, any ultravox is good :O)
Some Ultravox fans slag this off. Its not that bad although there are better songs on the Revelation album this came from. Tony could sing, the band could play and this incarnation was better than what produced the Ingenuity album afterwards. Billy's mistake was really calling the project "ultravox"...
Couldn't agree more. Revelations is actually a good album with some class songs, and Tony is a superb singer. He's similar to Midge's style but still manages to keep his identity. Ingenuity also has its moments but is not as polished and Sam Blew lacks the power of Midge and Tony. There are better tracks on Revelations though "I am Alive" is still a decent enough track.

Mediocre at best. The original Ultravox and even the 2nd incarnation would truly be ashamed of this MOR track.

You can say whatever you want, but this music is great. High quality pop, better than any other, from those shitty 90's.

I like this...but I don't like the kinda American accent with the singing...
although for some reason, this song makes me think of "one small day"

Is there something wrong with an American accent??? Everyone sings with a more "American" accent than british/scottish....
