I don't know why, but I find it so hilarious how the JP voice actor for Haseo is the same voice actor for Cloud in Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus, and Crisis Core. Btw, was there a series before the G.U. series or is there a prequel to the G.U. game like an anime or something? (noob to .hack//G.U. Sorry. ^.^;)

.Hack//ROOTS, the anime is a direct prequel to the G.U. games. There's loads that happens before G.U., such as the original games (IMOQ) and the SIGN anime, where Haseo's player (not the character Haseo) first appears. There's too much to explain, so looking up the .hack Wikia is probably a good idea.
