Callum, where did you get the time lapse footage from 0:40 seconds in to 1:10? I remember it from somewhere from when I was like 6 or 7, that's 10 years ago, but I can't quite remember.
@makkathran You might be thinking of some other show, as that clip is from BBC's First Life with David Attenborough which aired in 2010. Amazing documentary, nevertheless.
@callumCGLP Yeah, I figured it would be from on of David Attenborough's documentaries. It looks very similar to one from Walking with Dinosaurs, which aired I don't know how long ago. Thanks!
@ThatGuyCalledPhillip ah.. the good old VHS player! Yep, it is from Walking With Dinosaurs. Thanks guys! I forgot to mention... great work Callum!!! :)
Last night I had a great New Years Eve with friends, surrounded by good discussion and thoughts about the future. Then this morning I wake up to this video and it seems very appropriate. There are times ahead for every one of us that may seem insurmountable, but Sagan has a way of distilling things to their simplest terms - we are here, now, and it is up to us to "enhance life and come to know the universe". I know I'm going to try every goddamn day, until I slip back into the cosmic stardust.
You can just believe/trust evolution, but you can also study it yourself and, after realizing that thousands of independent pieces of evidence converge, make an informed choice. For people who just want to believe/trust: you can either trust 99.9% of scientists who dedicated their lives to study and publish about the issue over 150 yrs or some crazy people who know nothing about the issue and for some obscure moral reason need to have a literal interpretation of an old book.
Actually you're kinda right there. When you don't understand how stuff works at all, and could only judge by faith, your natural anthropomorphized world would probably make you feel more comfortable with the idea of "creation". And from that same perspective, evolution would require much more faith to believe in.
don't spew your nonsensical verbal diarrhea on a scientific video when you actually don't know shit about science, it just goes to show how much a retard you guys can be.
Half an hour ago I found 2grams of weed in my Jacket from last night that I totally forgot about. Now there's a new Carl Sagan vid up? Best fucking New Year's day ever. Join me for a joint and some great Sagan-ness lads?

@Elyphaleth 1999. That sounds about right. I would've been 5 (or older, as it would have aired later in my country).

I never understand people of faith using "faith" in a demeaning way.
