  • Wow, that Japanese box art looks horrid.

  • One of the nicest looking and hardest games ever made.

  • Nostalgia :'(

  • If anyone is on this today, Steam is selling Comix Zone for 50% off right now. $1.49

  • "WELL DONE TURNER!"

    "OH YEAH!"

  • "Give me the respect I deserve!"

  • this game was realy hard

  • This is so 90's sounding. I would give both of my testicles to be able to go back just for 1 day. 90's were sacred times. Music was awesome, games were awesome, TV shows were awesome, the economy was good, Clinton was banging Monica, the sun just seemed to shine a bit brighter you know what im saying.

  • Wow!!!...Sega MegaDrive have some of the best soundtracks EVER!!! (sonic, streets of rage, comix zone, mortal kombat, etc.....)

    Anyone agree? =)

  • @RubasJLeone Remember... Mega Turrican... :D

  • I was to little when I played this master piece, it blew me away.

  • listen to this in 240p it sounds more accurate to the original

  • Holy shit this brings me waaaay back. I miss the 90's. FUCK THIS DECADE. Fuck Jersey Shore. Fuck Lil Wayne. I want Doug, Sega, and Saturday morning cartoons back.

  • this song always makes me sad how i don't have my sega no more and this game was always my favorite!

  • @BHLOADIDNEER

The game is on steam for 3$. I going to get it.

  • This song is my favourite in the entire game!

And, it sounds so much more nostalgic in 240p. :D

  • i just played this game last thursday lol. only to play the first level for the song!!!!

  • @tonymatt225

It's fucking ill right . . . it's probably the best level theme in the game besides when he faces all the enemies in the arena. Such great memories!

  • this is ultra porn for hardcore games

  • WHO IN HELL WOULD DISLIKE THIS!!!!!!! >:(

  • @BHLOADIDNEER mortus made 2 accounts...you still dont know?

  • @BHLOADIDNEER A retarded ass Nintendo fanboy.

  • I agree with "izdagrimeyone" i used to own this game when i was a child this was the last game i played before my sega was tooken away from me!!! :( it still brings back memories when i was a kid. Boy i wish i still had my sega genesis again!

  • So I go fishing in my toy chest earlier this month for a multi-voltage/amped adapter (the cord on the one for my Swiffer Sweep-N-Vac broke so I luckily had that to replace it). Inside the chest, whaddya know . . . my Sega Genesis (first console I ever had!) sittin' pretty inside, with Comix Zone still in the game slot. That was definitely the last game I ever played on that system before moving on to my PSOne and the nostalgia just killed me when I opened that chest up! ^_^

  • check 1 , 2 seeeeguuuhhh!

  • I love how it the track gives you the feeling that shits going to hell. :D

  • i was 6 years old when i was playin this game non stop from christmas day onwards for a good couple years im almost 21 now and i fucking love the fact i owned this game LONG LIVE SEGA!

  • @adriansowavey i was the same age and would go non stop, to the point id piss my cousin off when wed play lol im 20 still got it still play it haha lol

  • The Sega Genesis/Mega Drive has some of the best music ever, still to this day. And this game is one of the reasons why.

  • i love that comix zone music style

  • @Andruchon246 I fucking love it too.

  • This music sounds so genesis

  • @Finalflash50 Yup. It sounds DAMN GOOD too.

  • Grunge Rock, Comic Books and fighting. What more could you ask from a 90's video game

  • Great track....

  • who is the retarded person with dislike

  • Comment removed

  • @extreemru One dislike? It's probably Mortus

  • SICKNESS! Comix Zone remake for the PS3 FTW!!

  • @moonflash007 VERY YES

  • Comment removed

  • Wow . . . haven't heard this in more than a decade and I remembered virtually all of it. As the last Genesis game I acquired, the nostalgia brought on by hearing this theme and the Title Screen's has definitely eased the pain of not smoking marijuana for more than a month now. Big ups Renegade, keep doin' da damn thing!

  • One day some guy was hurled

    Into a crazy world

  • this is epic. games today sucks

  • i wish this was on road rash 1 or 2

  • @jumpdukejump Why not Road Rash 3?

  • they can put banjo kazooie in a sega racing but they can't even make sketch a cameo appearance

  • *turns into superhero* OH YEAH! *turns back to normal* What the @#$! was that???

  • "Well done, Turner! - Yeaha!"

  • @NebilimXYZ It's "Oh Yeah!"

    Sketch: AAH !

    *SLAM*

    Enemy: *cough cough*

    Sketch: See ya !

  • @Julienfun Lol I always loved that line. See yah!

  • @Julienfun

Wow you just warmed my heart with that bit of epic nostalgia.

  • Such a underrated game. Which is why I'm gonna review it(:

  • @jasonx2115 O RLY?

  • Fucking awesome music.

  • @MattMatius

    *CO-SIGN*

  • SEEEGA

  • C' MOOONNN!!!!!! cc .. ccougghh gougghhtt....

  • Damn, this game made Sonic Mega Collection plus even awesome.

I remember in my youth I was afraid to play the Ooze because it was scary. Good memories.

  • well done Turner....... (transforms) OW YEAHH!!!

  • @23viktor23 What the @#$! was that?!

  • @dakarus jumps to next page XD

  • WAAAAAAA!!!! See ya!!

  • I loved this game so much. Too bad I kept on renting it instead of just buying it.

  • @DemiIoc hahaha Renting games was THE nicest stuff to do in the '90s hahahaha

  • Comment removed

  • Composed by the amazing Howard Drossin, who also did the boss themes in Sonic & Knuckles.

  • I free run with this on...

  • A lot of well-written music in this game! Too bad the Genesis' 19th century soundboard didn't do it much justice :[

  • @YeyJordan I kinda disagree. The soundtrack is great, but the quality of music was typical of the US developed games and not the soundboard's fault (X-Men 1+2, Chakan, Cyborg Justice, etc). Very twangy (though I still loved it). Plenty of games had much higher quality than this. Sonic the Hedgehog 1+2, Sword of Vermilion, Ristar, Streets of Rage 1+2, Mega Turrican). This soundboard takes a lot of flak, but I think we got a much wider variety of sounds from it compared to competing consoles

  • awesome game. shaolin kick ftw

  • @banco420

Helllll yeah! Shoulder smash and scissors kick could never fuck with that! B-D

  • @KoldShadow It's such an awesome move man

  • This game is a MUST HAVE. I dont care who you are. Is a MUST HAVE.

  • @TheKrustaceox I don't have a mega drive. Do I must have it too?

  • @CrashRHCP I dont have a mega drive neither, yet i can play this game whenever i want.

  • @CrashRHCP i saw emulator videos on your channel. What did you mean by that?

  • @TheKrustaceox lol, it was just a joke. You said that everyone must had this game.I was wondering that if you didn't had a mega drive you had to have it too. And I don't need emulators to buy this game since it came with Sonic Mega Collection +. But yeah, I use emulators because I don't have old consoles, but I like playing old games.

  • this had some of the best music of any game at the time

  • Back in my day we had game like this... no saves fuck a memory card it wasnt even invented yet.... if you died tough shit... start from scratch bitch and we did and like it

  • @izdagrimeyone

Some of the realest shit eva wrote!

  • @izdagrimeyone Thankfully, they put in a Unlimited Health cheat so the only thing you die from is falling into a pit.

  • @izdagrimeyone Uh, games had saves back then. And memory cards were invented. (The Sega CD had one for instance)

  • @RJTamm93 The Sega CD didn't have a memory card. It had a battery for saves.

  • @jacksprat1990 Actually, it did have a memory card, I have one (It had pitifully small internal memory like the Saturn). Do your research mate.

  • @RJTamm93 You're right. Didn't realize it had one.

  • @izdagrimeyone damn dude so true tell me about it, memory cards help when the game is like 100 levels long(toe jam and earl lol) but youre right i enjoyed starting from the beginning it taugh you patience and true skill instead of relying on a memory card. Added to the thrill especially when you would finally beat the game, i remember just yellin yeaaahhh i won!!!! lol

  • oh the user that uploaded this was renegade. no wonder. he's got all the sega soundtracks.

  • Sketch falls from nowhere and yells "WHOOOA!"

  • cool concept....but one guy?!!, no continues!? seriously gimme one reason why there's no continues. i just want to finally beat this game

  • @famous305matrix You get more lives per act.

  • @famous305matrix

    AVGN? :P

  • @Etkar2008 lol

  • @famous305matrix

When you go to a new episode and lose a life, you get to continue at the start of that episode. You only get one though. That's what I've found playing the PAL version.

  • The memories!

  • Cool game but I never liked the music. I hate when they use that "fart guitar" sound in Genesis games.

  • @TheTKC Fart guitar...XD

  • @TheTKC It's called a YMF262 and in no way does it resemble flatulance in any way. The Genesis has a distinctive "Raspy, Gritty" sound to it that some may consider "fart guitar".

  • @mistertitanic true, that metallic effect is what totally made the Hellfire soundtrack work ^-^

    especially the stage 4 theme

  • @TheTKC

Were you the one that thumbed this down . . . think carefully before responding if you did. lol j/p

  • @TheTKC I came back to this song and this comment still cracks me up lmao

  • One of the best game soundtracks and that everything from the 1990's kicks the 21st century's ass.

  • Comment removed

  • Just played this one for the first time last night; missed it the first time around since I was an SNES kid. The gameplay definately holds up after all these years, it's not one of those older games where you really had to play it at the time to appreciate it.

And the tunes! Now we know where Kurt's soul went after he died, into this cartridge! This and Maximum Carnage are the pinnacles of 16-Bit RAWK.

  • I haven't heard this Comix Zone music, but I played this game for the first time!

  • Why does the Alyssa on the Japanese cover remind me of this one woman in a hentai

Seriously her face looks exactly like Alyssa's

  • @ElboNoodel

lol, I always wondered if Sketch and her were gonna do it if she was rescued at the end.

  • спасибо)

  • only thing that sucks about this game...when u get to the next page ur health is still the same and u have one life and no continues and plus ur health decreases when ure hitting metal or a wall or a barrel or somethin...besides that this game is fantastic...

  • Comment removed

  • hey who remmembers the flying dragon thingy with the spike in the first stage? looks like he got on the pc and hit the dislike with it :/

  • Sketch Turner for Brawl.

  • @Qsmashbro Too late the game's already been made. :\

  • @squirewolf5 thatsthejoke.jpg

  • @Qsmashbro But gotta wonder how it would be to have a 3D Sketch kicking mario or Link's ass, be awesome.

  • the only game that compared to Comix Zone in its day was Sonic 2. Games like Earthworm Jim or Cyborg Justice were okay but they still fall short.

  • @punchinchest

Earthworm Jim 2 was the shit though . . . I never played the original though so I can't speak on it (heard it was hard as hell, though). Of course Sonic 2 FTW, and Sonic & Knuckles was ill (Sonic 3 was tight, too, but I never got to explore it cuz I only rented it).

  • 1 douchbag dislikes........

  • "Light Bulb" this tune should have been a rock song, it sounds more like ermmm grungy

  • Ranks up there with Streets of Rage for best Genesis soundtrack.

  • @ThePlatapus

I actually like it better than the Street of Rage soundtrack. Streets of Rage had some badass tunes, but also some garbage ones. All the songs in this game were pretty solid and the game came with a CD of an actual band playing all the songs - I remember the CD having silly lyrics, but still being good.

  • officialy the best game ever...

even though i couldnt get past level 1!

  • I love this game an song to much.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm sorry, but that Japanese cover art just ruins the entire game for me.

  • @ScrapBrainZone Shut up.

  • @mark84j

    LOL!

  • One of my favorite tracks from a video game.

  • Imagine how BAD this would sound on the Super Nintendo!

  • I'm so excited! I just bought a copy of this game on ebay today!! I can't wait for it to came in the mail!!!

  • Check out Dwelling of Duels for March 2010 for a great remix. :D

  • It's too bad this master-piece was released so late in the Genesis lifespan...Either 1995, or January 1st 1996. Not quite sure. But Because of it's release date, Few have heard of this gem...

  • @SuperMetalhead16 you can cheat by pressing pause and saving then loading everytime you die that's how i passed it

  • this is one of the coolest games ever created for mega drive does anyone know were i can get hold of the cd with the music on that came with it????

  • Just listen to this music. This game was QUALITY. Short but sweet.

  • testing: 1,2 ... SEEEEGAAA

  • @JasemanTheHedgehog hahahaha I always thought since I was a kid, huh... Elvis singing for SEGA!?

  • this game blew my mind as a ten year old. If someone made a good movie adaptation with all the "grunge" mise en scene from the original game i would pay to see it.

  • Seeegaaaa

  • @starshipdan so true..... and what about a sequel? but not with these 3d graphics ,like looking like a real comic...

  • la influencia de nirvana en los juegos de los 90´

  • I've found my new ring tone...

For lovers of this game pick up the Ultimate Genesis Collection for the PS3 and 360. It's a great buy.

  • best when plaid on the original system :)

  • @VentMultimedia

Wow dude furreal . . . I have a decent ringtone right now but this would blow it away . . . even though the only calls I get are people ringing the wrong number, haha!

  • Anyone who gets offended and rants on my comment can go to hell.

I love the genesis. The snes would have destroyed this song. It's good for ONLY the genesis.

  • I agree.

  • This is one of many games representative of the Genesis soundchip. I've heard people rip on it, but a bad worksman always blames his tools. Earthworm Jim was the best use of the "mediocre" GEMS sound engine.

  • Who the fuck thumbed this down? I just said I hate how people bag on the Genesis soundchip because they're not efficient with it and this is what I get?

  • Damn...fucking Nintendo fanboys raiding sega videos.

  • Genesis sounded a lot better then SNES, the Genesis to me represented the sound of the 90's grunge. That tough and rough sound

  • I wholeheartedly agree with you :)

On the whole, the Genesis sound chip for me produced way better music when utilized properly than the mindless chainsaw grinding that was the SNES' mightier sound chip. Indeed mightier it was but it seems that that was the thing that pushed SEGA devs to squeeze out the best from the genesis.

  • @masterermac

As someone who wanted an SNES for X-Mas and was disappointed to get a Genesis (I never even heard of it before lol), I have to say that I can't thank my parents enough in hindsight. Mario, Zelda and Metroid are cool but Sonic will forever be my ninja. Your assessment of how the soundtracks on each system compared was right on the money, as well.

  • Perfect words!!! Exactly what I think!

  • @AquaHedgehog Actually Comix Zone used the GEMS sound engine, pretty amazing what a skilled musician can do huh?

  • ahh very good memories,i have play this game so much time

  • I'm glad this was never released on the snes. the audio sounds great here. I'm afraid what it would have sounded like on the Snes...

  • love this game. im never getting rid of my sega gamez.
