  • I loved the blackout, this was SO GOOD, as others have said, 1992 was a great year for GL. 90, 91, 92 and possibly 93 were GL's best years. Phelps deserves some credit for the good but she also made a lot of mistakes. But in my opinion, I think GL's downfall was not until 1994. There were many great stories for the rest of 92 (though McKinsey was certainly missed) and in 93!

  • Love Jenna's reaction to Michelle in here. No one can roll their eyes like "Jenna." Dylan is claustrophobic dating back to an issue in his childhood. Lillian confesses her attraction to Ed. Maureen confronts Roger. She was friends with him, but called him on his garbage. Eleni is getting trapped in the diner freezer. Blake and Ross form Bloss. Nick has found out that Mindy lied to him about Alex.

  • @Robansuefarm I loved Maureen and Roger's friendship...he was so devastated when she died...plus Ed and Lillian's affair started here...

  • KL KL Music!!! Adds to it lol lol

    Jezxxxxxxx

  • Yes this was Guiding Light at it's hight of creativity, and you have to credit Jill F Phelps as much as people hate her, the show was never better.

  • I sort of agree. GL was certainly a lot better than it is now. And it had a lot of creativity, but at this time we (meaning the audience) had a better perspective on the fact the show was about to lose the original Alexandra Spaulding, Beverlee McKinsey than Phelps or the rest of the PTB did -- and then within the next six months they'd let Maureen die -- so, I'm not sure if perhaps the Blackout was the actual beginning of GL's downward spiral. (If you know what I mean?)

  • I have to disagree. Robert Calhoun was GL's producer from 1989-92, GL's last golden age. When JFP replaced him in 92, she began to dismantle the show piece by piece. First, she fired Kimberly Simms (Mindy), then she caused Bev McKinsey (Alex) to quit. Then to make things worse, in 93, she fired Ellen Parker (Maureen). JFP inherited a fantastic show, but then destroyed it. Headwriter Nancy Curlee did the best she could to maintain GL's high quality despite JFP, but then she quit, too.

  • I thought Jill came on as EP in 1990? If not and what you say is true, FUCK THAT BITCH!!!!!

  • Guiding Light at its FINEST! Loved the Blackout of 92. GL was at its best at this time, and all the other soaps knew it.

  • Pure good and evil. When the power goes out, who is in the stairwell together? Saintly Maureen and Scheming Roger. Nice.

  • Guiding Light at its FINEST! Loved the Blackout of 92. At this time GL was the best of the best, and all the other soaps knew it. :)

  • Maureen and Roger's friendship was awesome. She saw through all of his bullshit.

  • we need more early Eleni! before she became infected by Alan-Michael!
