  • 6 people should tear and tear their hair from the roots

  • A very random thought, but I've replayed this enough times to where I'm dying to know if the dog bark at the start of the video is meant to be there.

  • @jazlady7

Yeah it's on the cd too

  • Dear replay button, I'm sorry if you feel violated :/

  • I don't see why we bag on people because of their taste in music.

  • I remember when I was twelve I was laying on the couch, and my sister played this song while she cleaned. It was one of the greatest moments ever I never really listened to music when I was younger, until I heard this song, I fell in love with Bright Eyes.

  • This is about the only bright eyes song I listen to, and i love it so.

  • They need to make this kind of music again.

  • I love Bright Eyes the are so inspirational!! <3

  • "But I talk in the mirror To the stranger that appears Our conversations are circles Always one sided Nothing is clear Except we keep coming back To this meaning that I lack He says the choices were given Now you must live them Or just not live But do you want that?" One of my favorite parts of this CD! Very introspective.
  • @briannaorbust are bright eyes done making records? I heard they were

  • Conor is worlds above any other artist. He could care less about production value, he cares nothing about his vocal ability, he doesn't care how technical or not his instrumentals are. He writes from his heart and creates true art and shows it in every breath he musters.

  • But yea all the greats kill them selves or of or get murdered as a close friend of mine once said to me you sing your own death..like Elliott Smith..

Conors band better keep a watchful eye on him...the world still needs bright eyes and conor still needs you Mike mogis please make 10 more bright eyes records

  • Let the funeral start hear the casket close..

    .

Kid must have had somefucked up upbringing I mean its conor and his family is great...so I dunno wuthappen cheer up. Conor

  • A guy said the name of this song reminds him of my name. Hi, I'm Haileigh. :]

  • "You said you hate my suffering

    That you understood

And that you'd take care of me.

    You'd always be there

    Well where are you now?"

To leave, be left out... there will always be that missing part

  • @LeaderPhantom You aren't alone. Most of us are probably here for the same reason.

  • this song, Posion Oak, A Perfect Sonnet

...words cannot describe how much i love those songs.

  • So many memories...

  • Great song yo.

  • Seems artificial like a tv set...

  • deep

  • Damn I left my phone off the hook again...

  • @eheffelf I don't think women wanna be with you cuz of Shit like that

  • This song reminds me of birth, it brings so much happiness but brings tears to my eyes.

  • this has to be my favorite bright eyes song

its so beautiful and sad at the same time.

  • i love his music, you can tell how he thinks and its so much deeper yet clearer on every level. not many people think the way he does.

  • Nice to catch somebody making such a recent post here. I just discovered this guy last night and have been listening to all the full-lengths. I actually think allot of people think the way Mr. Orberst does. But most of society just ignores explicit existentialism.

It makes sense, because an honest person would end up like Collin, tearily blathering away. That's not too great for humanistic societal stability.

Course their are answers too. But people uninterested in being wrong ignore them.

  • When I saw Bright Eyes in Germany I screamed "HALIGH!!" and "PADRIAC!!" at opportune moments. But I don't think he's playing his old stuff much anymore. The oldest song he played at that concert (in 2007) was From a Balance Beam.

  • @Butzopower don't say that :(

  • @Butzopower this song is going on a decade old. Is newer stuff has less angst

  • @Butzopower I've really wondered that myself, but let's just be happy he hasn't.

  • plz no dubshit.

  • Most underrated of his albums.

  • well hahaha

  • This music is the best when the booze and pills mix well enough to provoke emotions that have dwelling within for so long you forgot you had them. As the album art in this video spins and sways...sometimes splitting I cry until my sight is gone. You must shed these tears to grow, that is what Bright Eyes does for me. When Sadness brings me comfort.

  • This is tied with A Perfect Sonnet as my all time favorite songs. I love how he describes the brief death of rejection and the indifference that ensues and was unknowingly there the whole relationship. I can relate even though I've never been cheated on myself. I've never met Conor but somehow I'm to the point where he's the only person I want to listen to anymore

  • i have to pee

  • These guys need a dubstep album.

  • @grantithan Shut the hell up.

NO music can compare to conor's.

    Especially dubstep.

    fike head.

  • @Karlandtheinstallers No, he would make a pretty good Dubstep album. Trust me, I talked to him about it on myspace.

  • @grantithan the fuck is wrong you?

  • @123missmurder What do you mean? I think it could work. A little practice, and boom. A dubstep album.

  • @grantithan Dubstep stands for the downfall of this generations music and probly forever. For that reason, the fuck is wrong with you??

  • @grantithan You're a dumbass. This music is perfect.

  • @grantithan Why do you need to dubstep everything?

  • i listen to this song everytime i am sad and it makes me feel like someone else has felt my pain and it makes me feel not alone and that makes me feel better

  • I LOVE when he screams his lyrics. He's the perfect musician to vent to.

  • the song of all time heartbreak. :/

  • I miss this Bright Eyes. I miss this Conor...but I guess I should be happy he cheered up.

  • makes me think of my first love every time.

  • I don't need women, because I have Conor's music.

  • @eheffelf That's the lamest excuse I've ever heard.

  • Well ha!ha!ha!

  • I love his music, I love his lyrics, but I absolutely can't stand his voice. It's a love/hate thing.

  • cheer up conor

  • OH MY FUCKING GOD THE ANGST.

  • i like this song even more now than when i was 8.

  • @ipukezombies

That's how I feel about Going For The Gold...

  • I always restart this song at 4:43 because I never want it to end.

  • @razzlez52 why don't you just get the youtube repeat extension?.... much easier

  • Comment removed

  • honestly, i wouldnt be surprised. i'm tempted

  • Two people hung themselves after hearing this

  • i wish this bright eyes jacket i have was longerr >:

  • well Ha Ha Ha

  • The muse of every username I've ever had. Including this one! :D

  • pretty much raped the replay button

  • Pure poetry

  • our love would never die... wel HA HA HA </3

  • I know that saying I like the old stuff better is kind of typical, but holy crap I hate Monsters of Folk..... and Cassadega, and I want to hate I'm Wide Awake it's Morning for starting this sudden, stupid change in genre that he's doing, but who am I kidding, I'm Wide Awake it's Morning is awesome. Really, I think I just like Conor better on heroin.

  • @hairloop27 I like all of his albums :) he puts heaps of emotion in all of them :D

  • 2 people have never been heartbroken

  • I love how pained he sounds when he sings "where are you now"

    ;_; beautiful

  • @ailsaailsa I know right? ;-; so many tears comin outta ma eyeessss lol

  • Back in the day my brother used to always listen to Bright Eyes, and I hated them. I thought they were just the most annoying thing ever. Then I came across this song one day, and fell in love. My brother never played this song before that I could remember, but I adored it. Now Bright Eyes is my favourite band of all time, and I don't know how I ever lived without them<3

  • I hate the kids who listen to Conor's work solely to feel "intelligent".

  • conor should teach music, this week's lesson: raw emotion

  • I hate current day Oberst.

    I hate his fans.

I know I'll get shitstorm for this, but you all know it's true.

And Fevers & Mirrors is the best...

  • @administramation check out the stuff he did with neva dinova or the mystic valley band, alot of that is like "im wide awake, its morning" wich is older than fevers and mirrors. dope stuff

  • @DylanBingham Im wide awake is not older than fevers and mirrors.

  • @administramation you're a moron

  • @administramation Fevers and Mirrors is the best. I thought 'indie' was intended to be something like a boy recording on a 4 track machine in the middle of Nebraska, anyhow. Independent, you know. Now it's just a bunch of phonies with their sound effects and obscure bands they use to outcast themselves. It makes me want to be sick. This is one of the most real and beautiful things I know, this album.

  • i did a badass sims video to this. but it got erased before i uploaded it. now i dont have the sims. this was my first bright eyes song i heard, i loved it. its beautiful, amazing. i love bright eyes.

  • I love metal, lol...but....this is amazing!!

  • this song is the story of my life.... just realized it...

  • Nothing like Arcade Fire.

  • @crazybillt Okay. They aren't the same band, where does it say that they are anything like Arcade Fire? What are you getting at?

  • <3 I love Conor oberst, his lyrics are so maazing.

this song is onn my top favorites of his.

  • This is a song that makes me wanna grab people from my past, and be like see! Not alot of songs do that for me...

  • ¡Linda pieza! =[

  • wish there were a music video for this song.

  • this somehow sounds cleaner than another version i've heard. i like it.

  • How do I put this? n.n AHHH-MAZINGG! :D

  • lol, i gave a thumbs up on every comment,

bright eyes, has some of the best lyrics ever 4 there songs.

  • i love bright eyes

  • This song provokes tears everytime :']

    I adore it.

  • @WifeOfSteven this song only makes me cry when i realize how much it illustrates so much of my life.

  • @afinalpairoflimbs It really is an emotional song. It kind of breaks away from the generally large scale depression in the album (Something Vague and An Attempt To Tip the Scales are good examples of what the album mainly talks about) and moves on to simpler things that can easily ruin anyone.

  • @WifeOfSteven I KNOW RIGHT, i hate it, i dont like how it makes me feel:( haha

  • @lachlanSB Haha, but after the tears, you kind of feel refreshed and new. It's all very odd.

Long story short, Oberst is amazing, and I'm also falling in love with his new Bright Eyes album along with his older ones all over again.

  • thanks for adding this song! i love it!
