wow that song !!!!!! the search for a long time, my default is not to ask for the names of the songs, but this came out for the year '85 and since that time did not know who sang it, much less the name, thanks for uploading the video and do remember very good times back, a question: Jesse mimic this in the movie Come to America with Eddie Murphy Randy Johnson's name ?????
I was just in the middle of the 8th grade when this came out back in February '85. Hours ago,I watched the video to this and took a long hard laugh at Jesse J on his jheri curls and how feminine he really looked. And that's the 80's for you.
The 12" version I used to have had a different intro. It started like this one except then it went into the chorus with just the beat and jesse singing then built up and went into the first verse and the rest is basically the same.
in agree fully with tomei1 & kinzjo this jam describes 80's funk minneapolis sound rejuvenated funk like grunge rejuvenated hard rock in the 90's this thumps!!!
@crosbonit I can tell you what happened. The record companies won't allow full freedom to produce and too many artists want shortcuts. Nobody wants to play and sing. No musical creativity. All other genres of music are literally plating circles around our people. We are living in the "Microwave Age". Everything ready in a few minutes...sad
OMG, I forgot about him and his wearing pink...talk about a brother who was very secure with his manliness!! I ain't mad at him. He worked that pink suit and everything...and I luv'd this song too.
OMG! This was my jam. I loved Jesse Johnson. I loved the whole movement. You couldn't tell me that he was not singing to me!! I was a baby then, so give me a pass on that one. He could play some guitar! "Clap ya hands while I sing my line"
@Tymikaification just had to say love your comment.. i love everything prince late 70's and 80's ..the Minneapolis sound, the revolution, the time, apolonia 6, vanity 6, sheila e, shena easton, wendy & lisa, andre cymone, jesse johnson, monte moir the solo projects of jam and lewis alex o neal cherrelle janet jackson thelma houston..what an incredible period of artistry & creativity
@spyrogamidas *smile* Thanks. YES, YES, YES! I sang in every one of those groups, even the solo projects. LOL Music was good during those times. And yes, amazing creativity. So sad, music has become such a money making venture.
i bought the single @ TURTLE'S!!! (TURTLE'S Y'ALL) back when vinyl wuz tha shit!! even though i'm a die-hard Prince fan, i used 2 sit n watch this shit spin @ 33 1/3 rpm... come on y'all!! there go that breakdown... YEAK!!!
I CAN remeber this song .. I begged my mom for the money to buy the album... I though jesse johnson was talking to me!!... hehehe... O!O!O! ... SO many memories..! im old old old now... (45 yrs old!) (0: THANKS FOR POSTING THIS~!

@yonextman007 He dose with all of the purple, and the guitar, I think prince had a guitar like that, but at least we get to listen to Jesse's music, as opposed to the purple ingrate who just takes all of his fans for granted.
this is the track I have been looking to find for a very long time on here, thank you so much, I am in a quiet library now but when I get home I am going to crank this through my computer surround sound system!!!! Love Jesse so much!!!
The bridge on this song is the WHIP! Funky Minneapolis sound from the 1980's Best damn decade of all time. If you missed it or were too young it RULED! Those times were MAGICAL.
YEEESSSSSSS it did!!! I wish they had made a follow up to PURPLE RAIN and had Janet in there with her music!!!!!! I so loved Prince's kingdom back then!! still do today:) that synth in here sounds similar to Tamara and the Scene's "Turn Me Up" Jesse was behind her style too!!!!!
@tigerwoman I hear you! I got the CD last year. I was forever looking for the cassette back in the day and woulda taped off the radio if I could! I also was obsessed with this song...
Oh Jesse Johnson you hot like Fiya!! One of the best guitarist of all time!! I am so feeling this song! I think I wanna have your baby. Thanks for the post anonymousent PLEASE, PLEASE give us more!! - One Love

I don't know how today's producers can walk around without a sack over their
heads in shame when music like this is out there. Today's music is boring,
stupid, non-rhythmic, non-lyrical, non-jamming tripe. Yet these kids just lap
it up like dogs at the waterside. What the hell happened over the last 20
years or so?
