because first of all, the macbook air is only 1800, not 3000. also because it has 2 gigs of ram, not 1. 1.8 ghz not 1. it does have a cooling fan. the macbook air is made for extreme portability. your hp blackbird is more of a desktop all compacted into a laptop

i dont own a black bird im just pointing out that for 1800$ you can get somthing mutch nicer ( desktop or laptop ) also the macbook air isnt relly that portable its just very thin you still need a backpack or brief case to carry it unless you hold it like a book but i wouldnt do that becuse of possibly droping, loseing, or getting stolen i could spend see spending 1800$ on a computer that fits in your pocket but if you need a brief case id just buy somthing thicker/ bigger and save a few bucks

The one in my lap that i am typing on is my 3rd laptop and I haven't had one issue on it yet. I don't need it to play dvd's (that why they created a dvd player) and I rarely used my disc drive, I have never needed more then one usb port. Haven't had any issues connecting to a network yet

My teacher stop teaching as soon as I pulled my Air out, walked over and picked it up and asked me about it randomly :)

And you know this from experience do you? Mine works like a dream. And it has a usb port honestly now how many usb ports do you need in one go? Usb key... not really. I was planning on getting a Macbook Pro in about 2 months but now that the Air is out there is no question in my mind what i will get. let me put it short. In February 2004 I went from and HP 14.1 inch XE3 yea i bet you all remember those, to a Sony VGN-S360 aka like 4 pounds and a 13.3 inch screen with a centrino (when they were new). I am for the super light weight because I rather carry around a feather than a brick as a student. (I can carry it with my thumb and index finger....)
