@MsLionking2000 : The "original" and first recorded version of "Dahil Sa Iyo" was sung by Rogelio dela Rosa in the 1938 movie "Bituing Marikit". No copy of the prewar movie exist.

@samsamsamjitp: Tama po kayo. Unang inawit ang "Dahil Sa Iyo" sa pelikulang "Bituing Marikit" noon 1937. May plaka rin si Ruben Tagalog ng "Dahil Sa Iyo" na mas mauna kaysa sa version na ito ni Diomedes Maturan. May pagkakaiba lamang ng kaunti sa letra o lyrics ang mas naunang awit ni Ruben Tagalog gaya ng maririnig nyo sa excerpt ng kanyang pag-awit na nandito sa aking channel.

@samsamsamjitp: Isa sa mga nasira at hindi naisalbang mga pelikula noong World War II ay ang pelikulang "Bituing Marikit". Mga lumang poster advertisement na lang ng pelikula ang na-preserve sa panahon natin kaya hindi na natin mapapakinggan ang 1937 version ng 'Dahil Sa Iyo' ni Rogelio dela Rosa.

Yung akin ay USB Turntable, may built in na siyang phono pre-amplifier at pwede mo siyang i-connect sa laptop/PC for audio transfer, editing, converting and recording. May mga online stores na nagbebenta ng USB Turntable. Prices range from 1.5K and above. Hindi ko binebenta ang mga plaka ko sa aking archive. Hayaan mo, kapag may turntable ka na ituturo ko sa iyo mga antique shops na mabibilhan mo ng mga plaka.

@felixbautista: Thanks tito, do you have any idea when this song was recorded by Diomedes Maturan under Villar Records? Villar Records seems to be not interested in history as they do not place the date of recording in their vinyl records/albums.

@philclassic I wish I knew but i presume it was recorded sometime in the mid to late 50's when he was at the peak of his popularity both in movies and in the recording business.

@felixbautista: okay, at least I have an idea. I've posted an excerpt of Ruben Tagalog's interpretation of "Dahil Sa Iyo" recorded in 78 RPM shellac record and I think it predates this version by Maturan. In that recording there is a different wording in the lyrics; the popular version is "Ang lahat sa buhay ko dahil sa iyo" but in Ruben Tagalog's version it is "Liligaya rin ako dahil sa iyo."

I have 3 vinyl recordings of "Dahil Sa Iyo" as interpreted by Maturan: one 45 RPM single (Mono); 2 LPs containing the song (1 Mono and 1 Stereo). Featured here is the Stereo version (the LP was previously owned). The vinyl LP is heavily damaged with scratches (tumatalon ang karayom sa lalim ng mga gasgas nito). This is the reason why the sound shifts from Stereo to Mono from 2:10 then back to stereo again at 2:18. I used the audio from Mono LP to replace the heavily damaged portion.
