  • Since the article in the New Republic came out a few weeks ago, I've looked closely at Sotomayor. She is, without question, a moderate and fair judge. She's the furthest thing from an "activist judge" that you can get. Hell, the pro-lifers should be happy -- though it was a direct ruling on the legality of abortion, she's voted in their favor on a couple occasions. The right wing should look more closely before they fight this nomination.

  • The right wing inspects with a nuclear microscope all of the decisions and people put forth by the "left" (which is actually the center, with the "right" being the "radical right" but I digress...). The right wants only to find a way to criticize anything and anyone not in their radical club. That's why they inspect so closely - to craft a way to bring it down. Fortunately it only brings themselves down because the public is tired of their endless politicking.

  • Well said, amigo. The petty part of me is absolutely reveling in the demise of the GOP; watching them scream 'reverse racism,' et al. Of course, the logical part of me is just disgusted with it all. We need a fair and level-headed opposition. Sadly, we on the left seem awful prone to corruption over time, and that's where a loyal opposition could do a lot of good. But no, we have a bunch of whackos excising the moderates from their ranks.

(Oh, and I meant INDIRECT rulings earlier)
