Since the article in the New Republic came out a few weeks ago, I've looked closely at Sotomayor. She is, without question, a moderate and fair judge. She's the furthest thing from an "activist judge" that you can get. Hell, the pro-lifers should be happy -- though it was a direct ruling on the legality of abortion, she's voted in their favor on a couple occasions. The right wing should look more closely before they fight this nomination.

The right wing inspects with a nuclear microscope all of the decisions and people put forth by the "left" (which is actually the center, with the "right" being the "radical right" but I digress...). The right wants only to find a way to criticize anything and anyone not in their radical club. That's why they inspect so closely - to craft a way to bring it down. Fortunately it only brings themselves down because the public is tired of their endless politicking.

Well said, amigo. The petty part of me is absolutely reveling in the demise of the GOP; watching them scream 'reverse racism,' et al. Of course, the logical part of me is just disgusted with it all. We need a fair and level-headed opposition. Sadly, we on the left seem awful prone to corruption over time, and that's where a loyal opposition could do a lot of good. But no, we have a bunch of whackos excising the moderates from their ranks.
