Perfect example why Radiohead just would not be, without Jonny's subtle genius, this raw version is lovely, but he made it absolutely the PERFECT song on the album. If lucky enough, hearing it live is...no words really!
lyrics are a bit different but man this song sounds so good acoustic. The album version has so many instruments and effects you'd wonder if they could do an acoustic version. I wanna learn this now.
It's really cool because the bootleg that this is from has a few early versions of songs from OK Computer on it, and it gives you some perspective. Like, how OK Computer would've been if Radiohead expanded on their warm sound from The Bends, instead of experimenting with the colder electronic sounds on OK Computer. Radiohead are masters of sound, and experts of changing it on every album. In Rainbows may be my favourite, but OK Computer was their defining moment. Stunning music.
@PinkFloyd47 well put. they can do whatever they want with their music, create any sound to fit any mood, or even any period in time. this is why i hope they keep making music for a long, long time....
Yorke looks like some Pictish Eurasian caveman in this shot, part Saxon, part Icelander, part Mongol - maybe he's the Alien here, born for another world entirely
pro's always compliment each other if they really like them...and vice versa...so maybe its a shout out....I think it sounds like zepplin houses album...the 12 string...oooooh
@carnesaur I just consulted my trusty OK Computer album booklet and double-checked the lyrics. Thom Yorke says "meaning of life." And don't call people bitches, it's bad for your karma.
THOM SAYS ANGELS NOT ALIENS ,YES IT IS A DEMO BEFORE -OK .BOB DYLAN DOES NOT OWN THE WORDS SUBTERRANEAN OR HOMESICK OR THE COMBINATION OF THEM BOTH .LISTEN TO THOM .I'M BYAS
Damn, that was great. Thanks for sharing basman. Ok Computer is one of the few albums I can listen from beginning to end. Not one filler in that album.
Nice, Thom's vocal work sounds more like what he did on The Bends. Cool stuff.
Not that I don't like Thom's tight shrill vocals on OK Computer (I friggin love that album), its just that you can somewhat tell this is before the album is released.
@matchboxmatt Go to KeepTube or KeepVid and then use "FLV Extract" (it needs .NET Framework 2.0 to work) and there, you have the MP3. Vote it up so everyone knows how.
what are you talking about?? only one word is different: 'angels' instead of 'aliens.' besides with how amazing the song is currently, and with greenwoods guitar parts, it gives it that sci-fi edge and paranormal feel, looking out to the stars. if the song sounded as tho he was looking at clouds then angels would be more appropriate . but again- its just ONE word thats been changed
Terribly sorry, yes of course 'lyric' v ;lyrics', although the phrasing running into one another is lovely too. sorry to have pissed in your wheetabix over an s. Thank you.
well even then that doesn't make sense, to get rid of the 's' so it isn't plural. (or so you think. you would actually say that you wanted to change the one word. good, now lets move on to sentences. can you say 'i want an apple?'
wassonii says: "duuuh appeh duuh bluuugh guuh." well done!)
that wasnt the point anway. 'aliens' suits the musical and melodic style of the studio version
Amazing

hmm I don't like this version that much. It's kinda like an Alanis Morrisette version of a very intimate song

He says i'd show them the stars, and a meteorite, not meaning of life.
most people think he says meaning of life.

@carnesaur i think it's pretty clear here, he says meaning of life... were you kidding?
rey5000 1 year ago
@carnesaur No... it's definitely "the meaning of life." It sounds nothing like "and a meteorite" :s.

i'm curious if Thom Yorke took the title from Bob Dylan's Subterranean Homesick Blues... either way, this song is so original!
