According to Rolling Stone the Public Option as it is right now is going to do no more than leave 40 million uninsured versus 50 million and the cost is going to sky rocket just as it is now. Single Payer is the solution. $350 billion in paperwork alone would be saved per year. "Health care is a condition not a commodity," Bill Moyer. If a public option passes it is just a pyrrhic victory. No doubt at all Obama goes with the Trigger Option so he can avoid blame when things go badly.

1) They are not talking about reform in Health Care, which is sorely needed. AMA self reports in excess of 100,000 die every year at the hands of doctors by way of "properly prescribed medicine (pharmaceuticals) in proper dosage."

2) What is being discussed is who and by what precise means will this homicidal industry be paid for disposing of so many people in such an efficient manner.

When you look past the hype you see an industry in need of reform not funding.

Just after the quote shown here, Weiner says that there already are triggers set up in the legislation because of the delays of several yrs to implement the plans. In other words, this is another non-issue controversy the GOP have stirred up to further muddy the waters of healthcare reform. He also says that triggers are just another way for the GOP to kick this can down the road. Of course, the last time the GOP kicked this issue down the road it was 1993 w/virtually nothing done for 15+ yrs :(

ladyblue - Huh? Nasa is one of the cheapest programs we have. It takes up only 0.7% of our federal budget. That's roughly 2/3ds of a penny for every Federal tax dollar you pay. And as far as "government takes over health care", I'm puzzled. Do you like it that William McGuire of UnitedHealth made $110 million salary with a $1.1 billion golden parachute? Do you know how many dialysis treatments and MRI's his salary alone would provide? And he's just one executive profiting from denying claims.

Health insurance is supposed to pay for health care - but their companies charge higher premiums, deductibles and co-pays, at a rate far faster than any of the medical expenses they claim to cover - and they provide less coverage each year.

That expense shows up in every gallon of milk you buy - the dairy company has to pay higher health care costs and raise its prices.

There are 313 Dems in Congress who (theoretically) support universal health care, 226 Republicans who will do anything to obstruct and destroy reform, and ONE Republican who says she MIGHT vote for the Dem's plan if it completely GUTS everything they wanted to do.

A trigger beyond 2013 will give them 4 years to corrupt the law. Drive trucks through the holes they would get put in ready to be exploited in 2013. At the least paying the MAX allowed beneath the trigger.
