  • that horse is stunning and your a great rider

  • hold your two point untill both of his front feet are on the ground sit back SLOWLY don't sit back so early you're popping him in the mouth

  • in the hunter jumper world we all know that two-point is for releasing on your horse allowing them to jump, there for fallowing your horses neck. youre going over a tiny crosspole no need for such a huge effort. but, shorten your sturrips! it will help, i promise.

and another thing...like i said before..wake him up! that plutzy trot is getting you no where. thats what the crappy jump distance andd it will help you have a nice relese. (: hope it helps

  • @hjoliver1227 Can I edit this a bit? just one statement is bothering me, though It may be because I learned it different. I always learned two-point as almost standing in the stirrups, though not straightening the leg all the way, but sitting up out of the saddle. I learned a "fold" or a "release" for over jumps, which your right, shouldn't be so exaggerated, but again should not impare the horse. @gottojump2 The former is right! Get a bigger trot, it help alot with the lerger fences! :)

  • @Sameoldjo uhm..sorry but two-point should be almost no where near "standing up". two-point should be like a half seat. when your horse jumps, the force of his neck coming up and over should cause your hands to do a crest or automatic release. This allows your horse to tuck and jump conferrable. If you stand up, you're not going with the natural movement of your horses jump. Now, over cross-poles something toward more of a half seat would be appropriate.

  • @hjoliver1227 now, when going over something 2 foot and up, two point is caused by your horses natural movement over fences. yes, keep your shoulders back, weight in heel, bend from the hip or as you said, fold from your hips. weight should be in your calf and heel (that way your leg wont slide all over). one more thing, don't sit up so fast, it will jerk him in the mouth. If it helps to understand what im talking about, there are some good eq. videos that helped me too!

  • @hjoliver1227 2 point is getting out of the saddle, did you think i meant straightening my nears and flopping around? No. Sorry if you took it that way. Half seat and 2 point are 2 totally different things. The horse shouldn't be forching out to release, its should be a natural movement, following the animals crest.

  • 1. shorten your sturrip like 2 holes or so. that will get your heal down and you wont be pinching with your knee. thats what will keep your leg under you.

    2. touch your sholder blades together, you sorta look like your throwing your body towards your ponys neck, your ponys a bittt to small for you, so you dont need to throw your self up there, if you know what im saying?

    3. GET YOUR HORSE MOVING (: to be continued..

  • Wow Emily, you're doing fantastic! :) Your riding is great!

  • 1 way to get more balance in ur 2-point when ur going over bigger jumps is tht when ur walking go up into ur 2-point (without) mane release and let go of the reins and hold ur arms out! Then next time let go of the reins and put ur head down so ur nose touches the horses neck then try to get back up with no hands! ( sriously helps me!)

  • Well.... ;)

    1) I think you should put your hands forward, because they are in your lap. So, grab a little piece of mane by his mid neck.

    2) Stay in your position all the way over the jump, so you won't keep on popping up and out of the saddle.

  • You look great! as always. The only advice i have for your jumping is

    1. Put your sturripd higher, which will keep your lower leg were it should be.

    2. keep your lower leg tight, and push down your heels!

    3. push your butt back more! Haha

    Hope this helps! [=

  • You seem to be coming up to soon, if you were jumping a bigger jump, you would be sitting back down before you had even landed and you would get thrown back/pull on your horses mouth. Wouldn't be pretty ;)

Also, tigheting your leg will help alot, plus it will help keep your from rounding your back :)

After the jump, try to freeze a few strides after.

(Just to get used to staying down)

  • youra good rider

  • @acer12345able Thanks, over here you just call it Jumping Position

  • your back is really rounded try and keep it flat

also your leg is a bit loose and dangly... try shortening your stirrups maybe?

also maybe release more and dont snap backkk! it hurts your horses mouth and makes them not want to jump because they focus on the quick sharp snap on their mouth

  • riley is a really pretty horse, and ur a good rider! one thing i noticed on some of the jumps was that u pulled him back to trot after you landed. it's a good idea to let him canter for a bit on whichever lead he picks up :)

  • Pretty pony :) What is two point? I'm not american BTW...just in case it's a western term :) I have quite a few bad habits jumping, I lean got into jumping position too early and my instructor says I try to lift my horse over the jump, that I should let the pony do some of the work xD Heres what I try to remember, Heels down, eyes up, when in doubt, ride forward :) It helps me alot, it could help you. Your so lucky, the pony I ride would have a fit if there is cones, Keep ridin' your doin great

  • @RiverleeStables Sorry, my grammer fail, It's meant to be I lean into...I dunno how that got got there xD

  • i meant, stay in your two point a little longer and keep your eyes up . :)

  • staying in your two point a little longer. :)

  • Riley is BEAUTIFUL !! Your a very good rider !

  • you are snapping and coming up too quickly and try to keep more weight in ur heels and squeeze with ur lower leg and ur back is rounding a lil bit but not 2 much and ur release is fine i mean it cud be a bit bigger but it looks fine

  • Comment removed

  • nice job, i know everyones helping you with ur release but i just have to say keep your eyes up! i couldnt really tell, but some of the times u jumped you mightve been looking at the ground. i know its hard to notice, but you gotta get in the habit of looking up! dont worry, everyone looks down sometimes, but once you look up you will realize how much of a difference it can really make.

  • i love rileys trot it so... steady lol

  • dont come up so quickly after the jumps, your catching your horse in the mouth and if you do this too much it may teach him to stop. push your hands down onto his crest and let him jump up to you.

  • hm.. it looks to me like your lower leg has slipped back some over the jump(it should be on the girth but it is a little behind. Your breakover is good, but your shoulders should be more back(think Dolly parton! hahaha) ALso, look up!!! Your release is fine, just you need a little shorter reins(; But overall, you look fine for not jumnping since July!!!! Actually, you look GREAT for not jumping since july! hahah And if you want some professional advice go on Judge My Ride on fb and theyll judge!

  • yay you tighten your reins!

  • that goes 4 ur 2point too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

open ur chest a little more too:) show off ur amazing eq!

ok 1 more thing then im done pull ur elbows tighter to you and a LITTLE bit back from were you had them

    ok im done!

GOOD LUCK AT UR NEXT SHOW!!!!!!!

  • im going to say this as simple as possible i read some of the reviews and

WOW i got confused by some

the thing i see is ur rising/posting trot ur going a little over bord the lesser u go out of the saddle the prittyer it looks:)

  • if you need any jumping advice, I am willing to give it to you but i dont feel its nessessary to post it on the comments so the whole world sees. Just send me a PM and I can also show you a video to help :) btw i really like the song you chose for the video!

  • You have nice square shoulders but don't work so hard while rising the trot. You are pumping a little hard with your pelvis as you rise. Try to keep your hands steady, allowing your elbows to absorb the shock. When jumping, allow Riley to get ahead of you. Even though it will mean you get left behind for the first little while, you'll really get a feeling for better timing and it's safer to be a little behind the motion than ahead of it. Form will improve when you can anticipate him better.

  • try and give more of a release and help him over the jump, you need to squeez more. and try not to throw your self onto his kneck. and sit back more before the jump, when yu come off the corner think 1, 2, 1, 2 it will help you with your distances.

  • Riley looks like he is really working on his shoulder, so mabey try alot more collecting with out stirrups. If a horse works off his shoulder he usually tends to have a stiff awkward jump. His canter look very nice collected though when he comes to the jump he seems to loose it. I think the only thing in your 2-point is the keep your shoulders back, and dont worry about your leg the more you start jumping youll get that back! And just relax, follow his neck when your landing the jump

  • i notice that you are standing up more in 2point. u should just be leaning into his neck a bit. it should feel more natural. just move ur seat with him, it makes things alot smoother

  • You guys look good! Just keep your shoulders back, and your seat closer to the saddle and farther back. Your leg slips a little too. Also, stay forward on the landing, don't snap.

  • ok so your lower leg has slipped back, and that had made u slam down on to the saddle.Try arching your 2,Hope this helps =D!

  • u look pretty good:) try and stay in ur 2point longer tho. that used to be my problem and once i got that down i started progressing in my jumping a lot faster. also try and find a consitant rythm.:) btw ur horse is really cute.:)

  • try and liven up his trot about, he seems to be a bit behind your leg and lazy. Keep a steady rhythm into and away from the jumps. maybe try bounces too, it'll also help with your rhythm and line. casue rhythm and line are the 2 most important parts of jumping.

and when coming out from the jump, try not to cut the turn short. when coming out of a jump, immediately try to go out to the fence and keep your rhythm steady. Pretend theres another jump yu have to go to.

    Other than that Looking good

  • always always always keep your weight in your heels. also, keep your back arched. hope this helps :)

  • WAIT! :P just noticed another thing lawl :L if you get an old stirrup leather and tie it around riley's neck and use it as a neck strap it can help you keep your hands quite before and after jumps, if you were to continusely pull at rileys mouth (which you dont btw) he could beome unwilling to jump, and we dont want thaa now do we lol you have a really nice seat btw :P x

  • Comment removed

  • ohh also :P try to get more of a 'pulse' or a 'rhythm' to your canter and trot, even though you wont be jumping courses until you master your 2 point, it is a bad habit to stop right after a jump, you should continue the same rhythm after the jump so he wont stop in a course, also, even though your flat work is PERFECT :) a instructor who is not willing to listen to you and teach what YOU want to learn is not worth having an paying :) x

  • wow your really good for not jumping for that long! Riley looks a bit stiff or awkward over the jumps so maybe you could freejump him over jumps so he can become a bit more comfortable jumping? theres nothing worse than an awkward jump lol if you shorten your stirrups one or two holes your position will impove so much, try not to lunge yourself onto rileys back, it may look like riders are throwing themselves onto their horses back but in an actual fact the horses neck is coming up to them.

  • Looks good.! :)

Just try and relax your hip more through your canter, and your two point. try and fold more with the horse instead of just throwing your upper body forward. You may want to try shortening your stirrups one hole for jumping. Try and keep your leg on, when my leg use to slide back my coach would tell me to to kinda kick your leg forward so you dont let it slide back. It will help you learn to keep your leg in the right place!!. :)

  • Looking good :) try to keep your leg on as you jump, when you get to about a stride before I can see you tend to take your leg off and Riley doesnt get as much power in his jump and your leg slips back, take your stirrups up a hole and keep your leg on :) as for your position try putting the jump up abit higher and then you will find it easier to fold. Make a course too to make things more interesting and focus on striding and then getting your position over the fences :D

  • ok one thing. maybe shorten ur stirrups 1 hole just one. and before u start jumping again after not jumping for a few monthes u should do no stirrup work because ur leg was swaying back annd forth during 2 point and landing which is bad so yea

  • you two are looking great! but one thing i would say is to post littler, what i mean is your depart from the saddle when you post, right now theres a very large gap between you and the saddle, make the gap smaller when you post, i used to post HUGE, if u check out my vids youll see. also to prevent riley from over jumping or knocking a jump over (not that he was) is to get into two point earlier, this way you get off his back so he can gain his balance and soar over the jump easy.

  • You look very nice on him.... Stay in your two point a bit longer is basically it. When you catch horses in the mouth like you are doing he will eventually not want to jump anymore. Also you could lean a bit more forward....

Really though, you look so nice on him and he seems happy.

  • this is one thing i had trouble with for forever, try to stay in your two point longer in the air with your hands on his neck with a good release (which you have already) for a little bit longer so your not falling back in the saddle. this way you don't catch his mouth when your coming down, also this will help with the making your arms go straight out at the end of the jump so you don't catch him in the face. if you stay in 2 point a little bit longer you wont have to do that. (: hopethishelps

  • Well honestly, you look fine! Just need to be a bit stronger on your leg and a bit more impulsion on his part :3

  • some advice you should rly take...............find a new trainer that will work with you and teach you to jump properly

  • When you get into 2-point, try to throw ur hips back behind the saddle more... It is a really helpful method. And it will help Riley balance a bit more... Otherwise good job!

  • Looks awesome :) All I have to say is put your heels down a bit more, raise your stirrups if needed.

  • Nice for not jumping for such a long time!! my advice would be to think about sliding your butt back as you fold over to take off for the jump :)) It helped me a lot to think of it like that! But really nice job overall!!

  • @Dawnpaw Also try to pick a spot on the arena wall and focus there, concentrating on keeping your head up and your shoulders back :D

  • love it!

  • I think you are a great rider! :)

  • this is really good for not having a trainer. but you need to push your heels down more. also try shortening your stirrups. it will probably help with your heels. try practicing two point on the flat & then try trotting up to the jump while in two point. it helps a lot. (:

  • i would would say for suggestion to move you shoulder angle in a little and to move your hips back a little when you jump. Everything looks pretty good except you really need to work on your heel, in the video i see it either flat or up. You really need to work on pushing your heel down and your toe up. than posting from knee to hip. practice getting into your two point on the flat to keep your heel down and practice your position. Once you start improving with your heel, trot towards the jump.

  • You look really good!Just some suggestions for when you jump, try to arch your back over the jump and hold your leg so it doesnt slide back and if possible try staying closer to the tack, it looks like you are going a bit over the pommel, other than that REALLY good for not really having a trainer :) hoppe it helps!

  • woahhh dude he looks sooooo smoothhh like smoother then usual im jealous noww

  • great riding! ^^ why don't you jump very often? focusing on dressage or another type of english riding? but your not that bad, haha. I was worst my first time XD

  • well let me just say, you look amazing for not jumping for so long but..

when you go up into your two-point try to bend at your hips before your shoulders, if you throw your shoulders it may unbalance riley

also shorten your stirrups a little when your jumping, those are a good lenght for flat work though, and look up while in your two-point

    hope this helps :)

  • u guys stop telling her how to ride its her horse

  • @maudegirl13 she asked for advice, read the description for once. >.<

  • @RUSALOSHKA i normally read the descrpiton gess. my god. srry

  • great!!!

  • Your jumping is looking great em!! the only things i think you need to work on are keeping your back more straight, and stay in 2point longer after the jump, don't come down quite so fast. And shorten your sturrips at LEAST 3 holes, they are extremely long for jumping. Then work on keeping your heels down, rapping your legs around his barrel, and squeezing with your lower leg so your leg doesn't move and so you don't feel like you have to use your upper body so much. But you guys really look

  • if i were you i would concentrate on flatwork and work on really getting him coming from behind. jumping will come and so will your to point. id go back to the basics of trot poles like 4 feet apart and do those in two point etc. and you could shorten your reins up and grab hands full of mane. even imagine pressing your knuckles into his neck for 2 strides after the jump and stay forward.

good luck, pm me if you need some more tips or som great grids.

    :)

  • WHen you went into 2piont your legs went to backwards. keep them still. =) hope it helps

  • Maybe you could 2 point one stride before and hold it the entire time. That's how I learned

  • for jumping i wouldnt rush yourself. collect him and dont think too much on your two point. just let it be sort of natural. I would work on your two point at the trot and over poles. Get his head in a headset, he will concentrate more on you that way.

  • Don't sit back that fast because when you do, you're catching him the mouth! so maybe try some grids and stuff in two-point because that will help. also, try grabbing mane when you jump because then you won't snap back as much and your hand won't catch him... And also, when you land, you balance on his mouth and that's why your hands are going everywhere so I'd say, build a nice base for your position and you should be set! :)

  • i would practice trotting at a two point :)

  • He looks amazing :)

    your riding is great

  • Riey is soo cute! you have a really great release! trainer is beign meh? haveing issues with him/her? he is getting so good with his knee's!

  • you're still doing a great job jumping!! :) u dont catch Riley in the mouth and u move WITH him which is so nice.

i dont know about u, but when i jump i have a tendency to put my toes down >.< whatever u do, keep your heels down, toes up! :)

  • (2/2)also i noticed that you snap up again the exercise above is going to help you with that too... try to stay down until you feel his front and back feet touch the ground then keep your butt in the saddle and slowly sit up with your upper body then after a stride sit up with your butt

  • (1/2)ok to start shorten your stirrups a good 3 to 4 holes so they reach your ancle bone or higher then you jump ahead of your horse so you should try to hold your two point 3 strides before the fence almost in a short crest release then 3 strides after stay in your 2point this will help you feel his rhythm (i mean like dont close your hip angle or anything) ny jumping ahead your really unbalancing him also grab a lot of mane or his martingale until you dont need his mouth to help balance

  • heels down, and i'd ask riley to use his butt more! he looks a bit heavy on the forehand(easy fix just kick him and make him use him booty!)

looks great! and try not to land on his back right after the jump, stay in half seat about 1 stride after(:

  • If I were you I would shorten my stirrups a hole or two so your leg is a bit more sturdy, and I would also stay in two-point a little longer (or as my trainer calls it 'staying closed') You are not at all overweight or heavy, but it might help your horse's balance if you stay closed a little bit longer, and not come down on his back half-way over it. I do understand you havent jumped in awhile, and I'm not trying to be mean, so please dont take it that way :). Good Luck!! ~Fozz

  • Just make sure your keeping your heels down and try to steady your leg as much as possible while going over the jump :) You looked great though :P

  • There isn't really anything wrong with your two-point! You might wanna try shortening your stirrup leathers a hole though; it'll help keep your leg from swinging back (:

You guys are pro's! First time jumping since July and by yourself! You guys are awsssomeee!

  • AWESOME(:

  • Like it. ^^

If you don't likw how you jump..Try to jump without stirrups, that always helps. ;DD /for me/

  • @Happypony4ever *like

  • not bad:) I have been doing the same things with my horse too!

  • kjhdfgiusdhfsjdhfklajshdfkj YAYAYYAyYYAYAYAY I LOVE THIS I LOVE YOU!

  • @RiDEinSTRiDES

his canter is SOO collected then previous times! its awesomee
