  • 24v would done a better job in this race! :)

  • @boatsnhoesrnice

    VR6 12-valve: 174 hp

    1.8T stock: 180hp

    VR6 24-valve: 201 hp

    1.8T chipped: 215 hp

    It was a chipped 1.8T (200+ hp) vs a 12-valve VR6 (174 hp).

  • @flurry ya see 24v 200+hp would have done better lol, atleast my 24v would have in this instance lol

  • Is it that hard to see the front mount intercooler?

  • How was there even a debate on this ?!! In camera car accelerates no spool up until gti starts to accelerate and the fmic its not just there for show haha. pretty sweet vid

  • I can't believe there is still speculation on this and I feel like an imbecile correcting you all. The silver car, a 1.8t, was my car. Sean's car, the CAMERA CAR, was a VR6. Done. Fucking morons.

  • @dtezz0 That road looks awfully familiar. Is that 222 by any chance?

  • A modified 1.8T will always walk away from a stock vr6, but the sound is so much better in the slower car :)

  • All of u have to listen closely.... At :19 seconds when the guy says just go ahead, u can hear the turbo on the car when he steps on it:....so the winner is vr6 ......the camera guy was in the 1.8t ......don't talk shit unless u actually hear it first.

  • @VidsbyJrr You're actually a retard.

0:05 into the vid you see the front mount on NON-camera car. Plus sound of the in cabin VR before that.....

    Cmon man

  • @VidsbyJrr

When was the last time you saw a MK4 GTI 1.8 with leather upholstery?!?

Shit? You can clearly hear the VR6 burbling way before the Turbo GTI makes it appereance.

FACT: A chipped 1.8T will ALWAYS defeat a stock VR6. Less weight, more HP. Period.

  • @flurry I think ive heard of some early 00's gti 1.8t's running mid 14s with just a Apr 93 program.

  • @circlelt1

With the GIAC chip+ (93 octane) you get high 14s TODAY in early 2000s GTIs.

With chip, downpipe, drag radials and 3" full exhaust low 14s and even high 13s can be done. Keeping the stock K03s turbo, mind you.

  • @flurry but the vr6 will last longer and sound better. both extremely amazing engines, I'm not sure why people are arguing, bone stock they're almost exactly the same.

  • @GMathis512

I don't disagree with the sound. VR6 engines do have better exhaust note and idle a whole lot more smoother. I faced plenty VR6s (MK4 Jetta GLIs mainly), and the outcome was the same: Unchipped, defeat before 80mph, after $500 GIAC X+ chip? The massive torque and higher top HP has made mince meat of the 2.8.

The argument here is that the clear winner was a chipped 1.8 vs a VR6 (tuning a N/A VR6 will not make much difference in the outcome)

  • @flurry , So you think there's no point in getting the GIAC tuning for a VR6?

  • @Jimsraiders2012

    Typical Chip-only gains:

    Turbo: extra 40-130hp

    N/A engine: 5-12 hp

Don't expect dramatic changes like the ones you get in a turbocharged engine.

  • @flurry , not getting chipped, getting it tuned and I already have a few mods like magnaflow and K&N filter... eventually I'll get the turbo, maybe next year..

  • @Jimsraiders2012

"getting a chip" is slang for actual engine tuning.

Getting the most HP per dollar in a MK4 GTI 1.8T:

    $1400 GT28 = +120 hp ($11 x hp)

    $500 chip = +35 hp ($14 x hp)

    $50 K&N plate = +3 hp ($16 x hp)

    $250 K&N CAI = +5 hp ($50 x hp)

    $950 magnaflow = +15 hp ($63 x hp)

I recommend inverse the wish list.

  • GTIs (1.8T and VR6) are built to kick ricer's ass, not each other!

P.S. The camera car is the one making the VR6 burbling exhaust sound.

Hence, the 1.8 turbo GTI won this round.

  • 1.8T won, Intercooler on other Mk4 next to camera car, in the beginning of the clip you can hear the Vr6 sound at low revs which means the camera was in it, the opponent was a distance away, lastly listen to the gear change coming from the 1.8T and take note of the rev range the camera car is at (no rev bounce on gear change meaning that camera was in the VR6) so sorry guys the VR6 LOST.........1.8T WON!!!

  • You're all fucking dumbasses! The silver car is the 1.8t and Sean's slow ass VR6 lost to it.

  • @dtezz0 slow ass VR6???? hahahahaha slap a turbo on that VR6 and its a whole different story

  • i own a volkswagen golf mk4 2.0 non-turbo. :|

  • @Corkoth55 haha sell it and buy a VR6 bro thats what i did and its amazing also thinking about putting a turbo on it when i have the money to make it a monster

  • @z3ro146 certainly won't sell for enough so that i could get a vr6, man xD

  • At 0:05 you can see the fmic on the car. the camera car was the vr6. 1.8t wins...

  • @tjmo1593 your a dumb ass. first of all, you can clearly hear the turbo when he steps on the gas, and also you can see the turbo gage when the vr6 is smoking him.

  • @byh5

    Camera car:

Leather interior, VR6 burble sound, instant throttle response, lost at the end: VR6

    Silver car:

Front intercooler, turbo whine when it arrives, boost lag at the honk, wins: 1.8T

  • A stock 1.8 t will lose to a vr6 every single time.

  • unless the Vr6 randomly has a steering column boost gauge... I think the Vr6 took this one... camera was onboard the 1.8t

  • Hard to say who won. I have a 1.8t with only a short ram and upgraded diverter valve and i could and have beat 12 valve Vr6s b4. But, when it comes to the 24 valve no way.

  • Fkng Vr6 won idiots! The 1.8 turbo kicks in (camera on board) u can hear it and i got a vr6 and eat up 1.8t 's anytime!

  • The 1.8T won. The camera was onboard the vr6. Take a look at the video v=JPaJCE326_o and watch the same vr6 running against a BMW.

  • Comment removed

  • of course vr6 won :)

  • @Sadaut

    1.8T was winner!

  • @tb112rene 0:26 you can see pressure meter between tacho and rev meter, VR6 won

  • @Sadaut

The VR6 hits first the gas, than comes the 1,8T and overtakes him.

  • Comment removed

  • @Sadaut watch his other video...camera car IS the vr6...sorry :/

  • Comment removed

  • the vr6 won you can hear the turbo whine in the camera car dont post unless you know what your talking about

  • Just a bunch of dumbass kids drive these cars around.

  • I LOVE BOOBIES i need a sticker like that for my car

  • yeah im calling bullshit about the vr6 having just a catback exhaust.. Theres no way that pretty well modified 1.8t would lose to a pretty much stock vr

  • @MadeinBaltimore ya i agree.a chiped 1.8t make around 215hp ands 230 tourqe which is quite a bit more than a vr6

  • @MadeinBaltimore what are you talking about, vr6 lost

  • Comment removed

  • @AuralNoir no it doesnt listen to the exhaust note, 4 cylinder for sure

  • the 1.8t won idiots

  • @TheSlowjet Don't say something if you are not sure about it the noise a vr6 and a 1.8t makes are totally different so listen man the vr6 is the silver one it's obvious becauz when the first one pulls it sounds like a turbo (I own one) nd then the vr6 just flys by.

  • @samy916 yeah the vr6 has a front mount huh? if you read the description you will see that the vr6 is intake exhaust and 1.8 is tuned fmic and chip, you can hear the turbo spool on the silver one. Plus vr6 are not that much faster than 1.8t

  • vr6 puts 1.8t in the ground everytime ;p

  • Guessing the 1.8t lost 'cause there is a gauge in the camera car

  • @NickFahrion No, silver car had fmic, so maybe air/fuel gauge in VR6?

  • who won?

  • @alexeliep5 1.8t
