You know they all go on bout Mary moore,John Sykes etc..the essence of the Lizzy sound is that of Scott Gorham..dont get me wrong...these guys are great,i've Gary Moore 5 times!...but I often feel that Gorhams often slightly forgotten in the mix..but as a guitarist they say you've made it when you can be recognised on any record and just like the other guys..i'd know Gorhams distinct vibrato and sence of feel anywhere...rant over! ; )
I'm very interested to see how the new line-up will work - We have Gorham back with some of the greats. Downey back on drums, Wharton back on keys, the cool Mendoza on bass, with some new guys...Viv Cambell on guitar (we all know he can play Lizzy well) and Ricky Warwick singing. He'll also play acoustic on new renditions of Whiskey etc. Gorham has said they have got rid of the 'metal sound' in favour of the quintessential classic rock of old...I have my tickets for January - cannot wait!
Outside of getting Gary Moore to front the band, the best idea I've heard so far would be Scott Gorham, Brian Robertson, Brian Downey and Darren Wharton on vocals. Even Philo's biggest supporters would have a hard time arguing with that line up. Whatever happens, lets just hope that Scott puts something together that's on a level with what he was doing with John Sykes.
give these guys a break, its the only way your gonna here these songs live, and i think they're doing a great job of keeping thin lizzy alive. legends
Well I always loved Lizzy./probably the only chick in my neighborhood.....but I really cant say this is Lizzy.........only Gorham is original and Sykes does a decent job but no Phil/Downey means no :Lizzy........
@korrayls I think we all love Lizzy. I think that it is great that these friends of Phil who are impressive musicians keep things alive for us. I am just sorry they cancelled there tour down under a few years back. Would love to have seen this line-up
I love Lizzy. I love all the muscians in the band. But Lizzy without Phil is not Lizzy. They don't even have Brian Downey, they have Tommy Aldrige. Tommy is a great player, but no rock drummer I ever heard can swing it like Brian can. Yup, Christianity without Christ OR his first disciple. Great music great muscians. Just don't call it Thin Lizzy. Make it a tribute to Phil. Call it Phil Lizzy or Thin Lynott or something else for God's sake. If Brian Downey was there I might buy a ticket.
RIP Gary Moore...this is his song.

It's very disappointing that John decided to leave the band....I'm bummed : (

Me too - absolutely gutted! Im very interested in what will happen now to both the band and John himself.
He is a great musician in his own right and has come up with some fantastic pieces of work.
Scott says something is around the corner for the "name" so it could be that Downey, Robertson and/or Moore come back!
Boy, id like to see that!

Thin Lizzy died the day Philo died!

Sorry but it's not Thin Lizzy. Good musicians but they need to stop touring under that name in my humble opinion.

Scott Gorham is as much Thin Lizzy as Phil was, move on you muppet, they are a great band with or with out Phil, regardless of the name.

Christianity without Jesus wouldnt be particularly good would it?
All respect for postin', but Phil Lynott
fronts my Lizzy.

ah yes, true!
still, one of the best live bands out there and Sykes does a killer impression of Phil's singing!
