my 1st gen is dead, USB doesnt work in it..lol i did have it working a while ago wit h2 ways: cover the usb wiv elastic bands forcing it in ipod or with a half broken usb, have it in a certain angle so it works. now not at all. lol

Probably the 8Gb. If he's not going to use it that often, he'll need less storage and if he's not going to use up the full 16Gb, the 8Gb is your best bet.

8 GB should be fine depending on how much you use it. If you have a lot of songs and videos and are almost constantly downloading something then it would be recommended you get more GBs but if you use it just to get a song or album and the odd podcast, then you should get the 8 GB.

I was going to get the iPod Touch 32GB 2nd gen 4 Xmas, but I decided to get the older 1st gen 32GB off Ebay. It's on average $299.99. I'll get this, some UE Super. Fi 3 headphones, Mass Effect for PC and a giftcard for iTunes. I gave my parents $100 to help with the purchasing of my gifts so the expense doesn't run too high. I wish I was rich. Sometimes.

it uses wi-fi so if your near an internet connection you get it. it doesnt have to be your own if your just near one in general you are automaticaly allowed to share it. trust me, its completley worth the money.
