I think they should have replaced Jay Leno with Letterman and Jay would've gone out of it all with flying colors if he left things alone. Conan... just not funny at all in my opinion. Too slapstick.

Yeah Jay Leno didn't quit his contract ended, and then NBC was deciding between Conan, and Letterman. Letterman has wanted to be host of the Tonight Show for years! I think getting rid of Jay Leno was a FANTASTIC IDEA!! He was a sexual pervert on his program every single night and because of that I would never watch him!! He was always making women uncomfortable by looking at them and making sexual jokes. He was demeaning, not funny and I for one am glad he's gone!!! Conan is hilarious and will do well. David Letterman has a little more class but he can still be ignorant with his female guests. People tire of it. Conan will do great!!!
I was just watching the old Sonny & Cher Variety Hour and was wondering if Leno's new show will be anything like that?

Jay Leno did an amazing job hosting The Tonight Show over the past 17 years no doubt! I have always found Conan to be a funny act, but I had doubts about him taking over The Tonight Show. However, Conan seems to be handling the transition in a very professional manner. I think he will bring back some of wildness Tonight had with Carson while still keeping some of the Leno feel. I think Conan will work out great!
I hope Leno's show will do well. NBC apparently has given the show a 4 year time-frame but they'll have the option of canceling the show after 2 years if the ratings aren't healthy.
So, more or less, NBC is hoping that they'll be the network to break the long-standing programming habit of scheduling heavy drama during the 10pm hour. Has there ever been a successful comedy show, sitcom or otherwise, to air during the 10-11pm hour? it's usually dramas that air in that time frame.
There's already rumors that should Leno's 10pm program do well, CBS and ABC may consider offering similar programs in the same vein as Leno so there could come a time where TV drama becomes more and more dominant on the weekend prime-time schedules while Monday-Friday, comedy programs compete against one another as a result of Leno...but that's just a rumor.
I hope Conan don't go out on stage acting like a spastic. He's too damn old to be acting crazy like that. Do a normal entry Conan...you're better than that. Forget the old Conan crap you did...will ya???

Not really. He said in an interview "I wasn't ready to leave but when they call you in and say ""we want you to go out while you're still on top""then you know it's time to go. And then they asked me what else I would like to do and we kicked some ideas around and came up with a variety show at 10pm".
Leno's contract was up...he wasn't gotten rid of. Like Steve Allen and Jack Paar before him, two previous hosts of the TONIGHT SHOW, Jay will move into prime-time.
Steve's prime-time show was a success, 1956-1960, on NBC, and Jack Paar's show was a 3 year success on NBC, 1962-1965. Steve's first season, 1956-1957, coincided with his TONIGHT SHOW duties.
So, Leno has a chance at becoming the third TONIGHT SHOW host to have a successful transition from late-night to prime-time.

I think getting rid of Jay Leno was a FANTASTIC IDEA!! He was a sexual pervert on his program every single night and because of that I would never watch him!! He was always making women uncomfortable by looking at them and making sexual jokes. He was demeaning, not funny and I for one am glad he's gone!!! Conan is hilarious and will do well. David Letterman has a little more class but he can still be ignorant with his female guests. People tire of it. Conan will do great!!!

I was just watching the old Sonny & Cher Variety Hour and was wondering if Leno's new show will be anything like that?
And I thought that his last show was so classic and tastefully done. Nothing over the top, just well thought and meaningful to him and his fans. Good job, well done, see you in the fall.

Jay Leno did an amazing job hosting The Tonight Show over the past 17 years no doubt! I have always found Conan to be a funny act, but I had doubts about him taking over The Tonight Show. However, Conan seems to be handling the transition in a very professional manner. I think he will bring back some of wildness Tonight had with Carson while still keeping some of the Leno feel. I think Conan will work out great!

I hope Leno's show will do well. NBC apparently has given the show a 4 year time-frame but they'll have the option of canceling the show after 2 years if the ratings aren't healthy.
So, more or less, NBC is hoping that they'll be the network to break the long-standing programming habit of scheduling heavy drama during the 10pm hour. Has there ever been a successful comedy show, sitcom or otherwise, to air during the 10-11pm hour? it's usually dramas that air in that time frame.

There's already rumors that should Leno's 10pm program do well, CBS and ABC may consider offering similar programs in the same vein as Leno so there could come a time where TV drama becomes more and more dominant on the weekend prime-time schedules while Monday-Friday, comedy programs compete against one another as a result of Leno...but that's just a rumor.

Not really. He said in an interview "I wasn't ready to leave but when they call you in and say ""we want you to go out while you're still on top""then you know it's time to go. And then they asked me what else I would like to do and we kicked some ideas around and came up with a variety show at 10pm".

Leno's contract was up...he wasn't gotten rid of. Like Steve Allen and Jack Paar before him, two previous hosts of the TONIGHT SHOW, Jay will move into prime-time.
Steve's prime-time show was a success, 1956-1960, on NBC, and Jack Paar's show was a 3 year success on NBC, 1962-1965. Steve's first season, 1956-1957, coincided with his TONIGHT SHOW duties.
So, Leno has a chance at becoming the third TONIGHT SHOW host to have a successful transition from late-night to prime-time.
