I encourage anyone who's feeling the nostalgia to check out therebirth(dot)net... it's a 1.12 vanilla server that strives to be as close to the original vanilla wow as possible... don't be turned off by the crappiness of most private servers, there are no instant levels, donations, vote rewards, free gear, xp boosts... just pure nostalgia. One of the least buggy private servers you'll find as well, the people running it are amazing. The closest you can get to experiencing what you once loved...
and ofc you couldnt take 2-3 mobs at a time during lvling because you would get killed easily,not to mention grp quests and the lack of ppl to the zone you were lvling,you couldnt kill more than 2 ppl at a time at pvp,the variety of spells was low,you always had to drink and eat after each fight making the gameplay boring as hell,nothing exciting really.TBC and WotLK were the best,Cata is bullshit but i would still preffered it than Vanilla.
actually wow at 60 was pathetic,too much lag,constant ganking,took a year to ding 60,too much grinding and still you couldnt afford an epic mount or to maximize your proffs,traveling to dungs took long time because you had to discover the flying paths and the ground running with 60% mount speed was a pain in the ass,bg queues lasting 1 hour,spenting 1 day in a single raid without getting any gear or playing 8 hours a day for months to get a decent tittle and pvp gear.Vanilla was for nolifers...

@Zachattack172 What are u talking mate? 1. of all, there is a bunch of 1.12.1 Servers, why? Cause ppl want to play vanilla wow, but blizz dont got one. So we have to go Pservers. If Blizz would make a classic server, i would pay for it, even more then u do. And 2., servers like Feenix have more players then most of the retail servers do,
about 3k at peak 2012. That is a lot for one realm/server. Naxx was just released and 2 wings are cleared by top guilds already. =)

WoW back in 2006 was the best and golden age, it was the beast mmorpg in the world. When everything was orginized and simple to understand and only real players played. Today its filled with 1000000 kids who play it just to be "cool" and say that play it. Many cheat their way through it and 90% of the game players are assholes. Its just not how it use to be. Now its just about the money. R.I.P WoW, it was fun.

I quit wow over 3-years ago and never went back. I played from 05 to 08. But there are times I still do think about the game.(Obviously) Personally, I even back then really think Blizzard should have created Classic Wow Servers. I played a good portion of BC and felt the game fall apart on me real quick, thats why I quit. Oh by the way "Fo da Horde!" -Old Orc Shammy lvl 70.
Gameplay isn't always what makes games fantastic. I often find myself playing Skyrim less than I used to because it's not online (not to say Skyrim is a bad game, its amazing, social aspect is extremely important though)
I feel like I'm the only one that likes cataclysm. So many people say it was a mistake, but in reality they just plain fixed everything about the damn game. They made fun quests for the 1-60 levels, added a fucking STORYLINE, and actually made you feel important doing the quests. The social interaction is still great, at least on RP servers, You probably say it is nerdy how I used to, but it makes things a hell of a lot more fun.
@DastardlyDistaste sure, but it's too easy :) they've increased, from patch 4.3, the XP-experience with 30% from lvl 60-78 or something like that... :P sure it's a good story, and the quests are OKAY, as I said , a bit too easy :D
@FreyaJanssonSalonen While that is true; it does make things a bit more entertaining just in the sense that I no longer have to spend a full month in the same general area just to level up ten times. Even though things are much easier, they are emphasizing on the RPG part of WoW. For most players this is probably a kick in the crotch, but I suggest they try RPing while they play the game: they will be infinitely more satisfied with the experience.
Feenix Vanilla WoW server. If your looking for that vanilla action, check it out, you wont be dissapointed. I recently found out about it, and am pissed that i didnt learn about it earlier. I already got all my old WoW buddies to play, i havent had this much fun in WoW for years. This is the World of Warcraft, not that new shit they claim.
I nostalgia in my pants reading all these comments, seriously... they should make a vanilla or TBC version, from before the game got fucked up... Now it's no fun anymore, everybody has epics, you can't tell the difference from the good or the bad players, they all look the same, they all have the same gear, because there are no challenges what so ever anymore....
@Weeklycap Yeah, WoW lost so many members during the end of both pre bc and bc, we lost 80% of our members in our guild the first 2 weeks.
But hey, today I quit wow as well, been a 7 year long career. I'm happy to move on, today I play chess and work my ass off in real life in order to afford a vacation every summer and winter.

Vanilla is nice nostalgia but when it came to earning gold, questing ,lvling, and finding groups just to do a dungeon / raids...i dont miss it one bit...i like how they do things now w/ all that, ppl have forgotten what a pain it was back then b4 even BC came out to earn gold just to buy a mount ( reg was 90g @ lvl 40 in Vanilla) (Epic was 600g @lvl60 in Vanilla)and it wasnt easy makeing that amount of gold that quikly as it is now...
@Tyacatt1977 my bad i had to look up and recap .... Reg lvl 40 mount costed 40g and it ran at speed 40%..and the epic mounts were 1000g and if you were exalted w/ a rep it would have been 800g and it ran at speed 100% ...and you would have to grind the crap out of you just to get 1000g,lol there was also alot of lag, and waiting in que just to get into your server...i think ppl have forgotten that...lol
I heard there's a new server coming up called Mesmeric WoW, i have one of their videos Favourited on my Channel, the thing is that they actually care about making the game blizzlike, that means even mobs calculation paths to the player instead of going through the Textures.
Classic was only better because WoW had the best Social part of any MMO, you knew your Dungon Mates, your Guildys and after the first year of playing you knew most of your Realm mates, and they knew you, all the Realm had to play with each other and they knew each other. It was a joy to play.
Now you sit in your main city, looking at the TV as you wait 10-20mins for a Dungon, join the Dungon, say hello or say nothing at all then leave and start all over agan.
@SoulGamesInc You may still know your realm mates and guild mates and raid mates, and even your dungeon ones if you want to go with a team from your realm, Blizzard just made it easier if you didn't want to know your raid and dungeon mates, So it would be easier, So please hold your insults.
@SoulGamesInc You can always join a guild and do dungeons only with them, or recruit people to dungeon via general chat. But I have to admit, that it would be nice to have a server-only looking-for-group-tool, same for battlegrounds.
@Cyborgess Them times are passed mate, Short of running Guild Dungons there is no Social thing about WoW anymore, The Dungon Finder was one of the worst thing Blizzard have done to WoW, on a very long List.
Still im playing SWTOR now, and i have to say im Loveing it so very much.
@SoulGamesInc I think i prefer the dungeon finder to spending literally hours on chat channels trying to form a party only for someone to quit halfway through a dungeon
@kalgakas people who usually joined you after "hours of searching" usually played it through (: but that's why dungeon finder destroyed a whole bit of the game. They leave if they don't like the group, cos they know they'll fins one easily again , as long as they don't get the deserter flag... I personally think that Classic/Vanilla was the best of the best. Everything was harder and as SoulGamesInc said, alot more social! (:
@FreyaJanssonSalonen ik i agree that it was satisfying gathering a party together and dungeon finder has simplified the whole thing slightly too much but dungeons could become tedious and frustrating before dungeon finder. I also agree that the social aspects of vanilla were a lot better and members of your guild were like your friends and family where as now they're just people who appear in chat and sometimes trade with you
@kalgakas lucky there are still PvE/PvP guilds :D I've been in a small one for two-three years now, named undead presence, and it's a GREAT social guild, didn't take long until you knew everyone. I really thank people who still got the vanilla spirit :)

@kalgakas indeed! But the ones that really dissapoints me is blizzard.. They think "oh , this Q was a bit hard, let's make it easier so you dont have to actually TRY TWICE!" I remember lots of quests you actually NEEDED a mage to polo a special mob, and it was not set as a +grp.. There are too many "noobs" playing and Blizzard wants to make THEM happy.. What about the rest who doesn't want those changes? :P
@FreyaJanssonSalonen yeah I remember when it used to take ages to get to level 50 or 60 and it felt like a real achievement now you can get to level 50 in a few hours
@kalgakas dont forget the ammount gold for a horse.... -.- lvl 20 , 3 gold total... in vanilla you had to reach 40 for your first mount which could take like AGES, and it had a cost of some hundred golds... and no speach of lvl 60 mount :S paladin mount had to be done in a quest and like 5k gold, I THINK it was the same with warlocks.. remember doing that freaking mountQ with my first paladin.. machienehead... memories... :)
@SoulGamesInc you're right in some cases, but since SWTOR is out, and guild wars 2 soon to be out, blizzard will react accordingly to the new competition and up it's franchise. if you were a #1 franchise and had no real competition, why not just relax(which is what blizzard is doing). but MoP will give some hope to the old playstyle and so will the upcoming expansions.
With games like ToR and GuildWars 2 Blizzard will only lose more and more Subs each year, as players come to tearms with the fact that WoW is just getting old now, and this new content they are coming up with is just stale and a little childish.
Im not saying one game like ToR will take over WoWs Subs, but a group of better MMOs will Drain them, and im all for Blizzard picking up thire act. But it will not happen as they just dont care anymore.

Its a very good game, I Know a lot of WoW players that just cant go back to WoW now because of how much better the game is when you Compare it to WoW Nowdays, I Myself am haveing a Blast and im not sorry to say that World Of Warcraft is in my Past and is Staying there.

there wasnt no gay resilience gear that separated from pve gear ppl simply wore random pieces of gear and fought in battlegrounds

Gameplay isn't always what makes games fantastic. I often find myself playing Skyrim less than I used to because it's not online (not to say Skyrim is a bad game, its amazing, social aspect is extremely important though)

I feel like I'm the only one that likes cataclysm. So many people say it was a mistake, but in reality they just plain fixed everything about the damn game. They made fun quests for the 1-60 levels, added a fucking STORYLINE, and actually made you feel important doing the quests. The social interaction is still great, at least on RP servers, You probably say it is nerdy how I used to, but it makes things a hell of a lot more fun.

@DastardlyDistaste sure, but it's too easy :) they've increased, from patch 4.3, the XP-experience with 30% from lvl 60-78 or something like that... :P sure it's a good story, and the quests are OKAY, as I said , a bit too easy :D

@FreyaJanssonSalonen While that is true; it does make things a bit more entertaining just in the sense that I no longer have to spend a full month in the same general area just to level up ten times. Even though things are much easier, they are emphasizing on the RPG part of WoW. For most players this is probably a kick in the crotch, but I suggest they try RPing while they play the game: they will be infinitely more satisfied with the experience.

Feenix Vanilla WoW server. If your looking for that vanilla action, check it out, you wont be dissapointed. I recently found out about it, and am pissed that i didnt learn about it earlier. I already got all my old WoW buddies to play, i havent had this much fun in WoW for years. This is the World of Warcraft, not that new shit they claim.

I nostalgia in my pants reading all these comments, seriously... they should make a vanilla or TBC version, from before the game got fucked up... Now it's no fun anymore, everybody has epics, you can't tell the difference from the good or the bad players, they all look the same, they all have the same gear, because there are no challenges what so ever anymore....

@Weeklycap Yeah, WoW lost so many members during the end of both pre bc and bc, we lost 80% of our members in our guild the first 2 weeks.
But hey, today I quit wow as well, been a 7 year long career. I'm happy to move on, today I play chess and work my ass off in real life in order to afford a vacation every summer and winter.

Vanilla is nice nostalgia but when it came to earning gold, questing ,lvling, and finding groups just to do a dungeon / raids...i dont miss it one bit...i like how they do things now w/ all that, ppl have forgotten what a pain it was back then b4 even BC came out to earn gold just to buy a mount ( reg was 90g @ lvl 40 in Vanilla) (Epic was 600g @lvl60 in Vanilla)and it wasnt easy makeing that amount of gold that quikly as it is now...

Reg lvl 40 mount costed 40g and it ran at speed 40%..and the epic mounts were 1000g and if you were exalted w/ a rep it would have been 800g and it ran at speed 100% ...and you would have to grind the crap out of you just to get 1000g,lol there was also alot of lag, and waiting in que just to get into your server...i think ppl have forgotten that...lol

I heard there's a new server coming up called Mesmeric WoW, i have one of their videos Favourited on my Channel, the thing is that they actually care about making the game blizzlike, that means even mobs calculation paths to the player instead of going through the Textures.

Classic was only better because WoW had the best Social part of any MMO, you knew your Dungon Mates, your Guildys and after the first year of playing you knew most of your Realm mates, and they knew you, all the Realm had to play with each other and they knew each other. It was a joy to play.
Now you sit in your main city, looking at the TV as you wait 10-20mins for a Dungon, join the Dungon, say hello or say nothing at all then leave and start all over agan.
Social and Fun WoW are Dead.

@SoulGamesInc You may still know your realm mates and guild mates and raid mates, and even your dungeon ones if you want to go with a team from your realm, Blizzard just made it easier if you didn't want to know your raid and dungeon mates, So it would be easier, So please hold your insults.

@SoulGamesInc You can always join a guild and do dungeons only with them, or recruit people to dungeon via general chat. But I have to admit, that it would be nice to have a server-only looking-for-group-tool, same for battlegrounds.

@kalgakas people who usually joined you after "hours of searching" usually played it through (: but that's why dungeon finder destroyed a whole bit of the game. They leave if they don't like the group, cos they know they'll fins one easily again , as long as they don't get the deserter flag... I personally think that Classic/Vanilla was the best of the best. Everything was harder and as SoulGamesInc said, alot more social! (:

@FreyaJanssonSalonen ik i agree that it was satisfying gathering a party together and dungeon finder has simplified the whole thing slightly too much but dungeons could become tedious and frustrating before dungeon finder. I also agree that the social aspects of vanilla were a lot better and members of your guild were like your friends and family where as now they're just people who appear in chat and sometimes trade with you

@kalgakas lucky there are still PvE/PvP guilds :D I've been in a small one for two-three years now, named undead presence, and it's a GREAT social guild, didn't take long until you knew everyone. I really thank people who still got the vanilla spirit :)

@kalgakas indeed! But the ones that really dissapoints me is blizzard.. They think "oh , this Q was a bit hard, let's make it easier so you dont have to actually TRY TWICE!" I remember lots of quests you actually NEEDED a mage to polo a special mob, and it was not set as a +grp.. There are too many "noobs" playing and Blizzard wants to make THEM happy.. What about the rest who doesn't want those changes? :P

@kalgakas dont forget the ammount gold for a horse.... -.- lvl 20 , 3 gold total... in vanilla you had to reach 40 for your first mount which could take like AGES, and it had a cost of some hundred golds... and no speach of lvl 60 mount :S paladin mount had to be done in a quest and like 5k gold, I THINK it was the same with warlocks.. remember doing that freaking mountQ with my first paladin.. machienehead... memories... :)

@SoulGamesInc you're right in some cases, but since SWTOR is out, and guild wars 2 soon to be out, blizzard will react accordingly to the new competition and up it's franchise. if you were a #1 franchise and had no real competition, why not just relax(which is what blizzard is doing). but MoP will give some hope to the old playstyle and so will the upcoming expansions.

With games like ToR and GuildWars 2 Blizzard will only lose more and more Subs each year, as players come to tearms with the fact that WoW is just getting old now, and this new content they are coming up with is just stale and a little childish.
Im not saying one game like ToR will take over WoWs Subs, but a group of better MMOs will Drain them, and im all for Blizzard picking up thire act. But it will not happen as they just dont care anymore.
