"Dear...ahhh...what was his name?...I think I have something the will make your friend very happy. Intellivision 2. (with cheaper flat membrane keyboard, non-replaceable external power supply & new/improved software that locks out 3rd party game developers (adding to the problem of not enough games) & actually messes up/makes certain games unplayable) The people at Intellivision have drastically reduced the price (due to a $300 million dollar 1st quarter loss/Video game crash of '83). Enjoy!"
@xXCriptlordwcXx I often think of stuff like that plus, taking my modern digital recording/music gear, samplers, synths & keyboards, back to like...the 1960's. Pink Floyd, ELP & The Who were electronic music pioneers. Especially Pete Townshend. If he heard/saw a modern keyboard, I bet he would have shit himslf right on the spot. What about taking the movies, Avatar, 300 & Saw, back to the 1950's for people to watch? hahaha! They would probably faint. At Saw anyway. They flipped over Psycho
@xXCriptlordwcXx They would shoot you, The human race is scared of what they dont understand and retaliate with violence. Thats why progress as to be taken slowly.
well if you buy the intellivision emulator cds or get one of those generic with the games built in you get a much better playing experience than with those Retarded disks.
@Skylinesandsunsets I liked the disc controller, and the numeric keypad. The only flaws were the side buttons (way too hard to press, I still remember the thumb cramps), and they weren't especially durable - the membranes would wear out rather quickly.
Yes, this is my first console my dab bought to us. ever. Space Invaders, Space Armada, Those pilex tanks and planes you can shoot with Versus plaers, it's great.
Long story short, Atari had licensed the E.T. characters for games, but Mattel went after Thomas (who played Elliott in the movie) for their ads. But because the E.T. deal was with Atari, Mattel was barred from mentioning Thomas's name in the ads or even implying, by any means other than the familiarity of his face, his connection to the movie.
Not all games. I have the first Intellivision, and purchased, many years ago, the Donkey Kong Jr. from Coleco. The pack says "Not for use with Intellivision II" Imagine that.
That's right. Mattel added a secret test routine to the Intellivision II to block cartridges made by other companies. It blocked the early releases from Coleco, but then everyone (Activision, Imagic, Coleco, et al) figured it out.
ya mean the portable intellivision with plug n play; the plug n play version had games that were absolutely not like the classic games. you get the same sound effects in every game, and 1 song was taken from Antartic Adventure for the NES by konami for the opening of the plug n play version of intellivision hockey.
Who knew Plympton wrote his young admirers back? Wait, that's a little creepy. Just a little. But that's ok, "What's his name" can just get his dad Jack Flack to take 'im down if he has to. Such a considerate little kid to worry about prices. "Dude, my friend's broke. He ain't got that kinda money. DO SOMETHING!"
theres a intellivision lives for the nintendo ds but intellivision productions can't find a publisher and the publishers say they "it won't sell" so help by posting comments on these videos about intellvision lives for the nintendo ds so it can be published!thanks, billy g.
There is nothing like playing on an original Intellivision system...although, I could use an upgrade from the RF thing to a nice RCA-jack plug in. Anyone know how to do this? (I do support the DS thing... it helps put money in the pockets of good people.)
an old guy with a typewriter representing video games. now you don't see Microsoft or Sony with one of them do you?

If I go back in time with a PS3 and a Flat screen TV and played it in front of the world, I wonder how they will react :/

There's one design flaw that Mattel overlooked: those god awful, thumb torture disc controllers!
Skylinesandsunsets 3 years ago 2
I took a rubber tipped dart out of dart gun and stuck it on the controller and made a joy stick of it LOL

Sounds like a good idea, too bad the designers at Mattel didn't think of it first.

Skyline was just a way to fix there mistakes and it worked ok.

Or something like that, anyway.

George Plimpton rocks! If Sony used him the PS3's ads wouldn't be as scary as they are now!
RoyalKnightVI 4 years ago
The PS3 should have Sony trembling... It is way overpriced and the Nintendo Wii's popularity is slapping it around like a $2 prostitute.
PS3 sales will pick up, but they will have nowhere near the market share they had with the PSOne & PS2.
RIP Mr. Intellivision.
