I'd also disagree that the video is useless and serves no purpose.. mobile phone use is on the rise, it presents a proven and high risk (you are 4 times more likely to cause a collision) it's up there with drink driving. Not shown here but he was using it whilst moving. I contacted the company and sent them a link to this and had an email back thanking me, apologising, saying that the driver would be spoken to and that the video would be brought to the attention of all employees.
@Ian. There's a shared crossing point (cyclists and pedestrians) you just catch it at the start - I'm sat on that. I take great pride in making sure I ride carefully, responsible, within the Law and, usually, defensively. Yes, it is never a good idea to rise to challenges but very occasionally I will challenge someone if the opportunity arises and they are blatantly ignoring the Law putting me and other vulnerable road users especially at risk.
regardless..its illegal to use a phone unless hands free device is used,, while on the road.....even while stationary.....dont believe do that at a stoplight infront of a police car
Hmmm ! Am i correct you turned your bike around and went the wrong way back up the carriageway [all be it three yards] ? This in itself is breaking the law. The driver was stationary when he used his phone and put it away even before the lights had not even changed and was still unaware of you filming. To me this video is useless and serves no point. Why do this are you enticing a car driver into a fight ?
@Testedecazzo Been riding a bike since 1982 and racing a bike from 84' til' 98' and driving a car since 1987,car which was solely used for cycle racing events and i must be one of the very few humans who has NOT got a mobile or intend to have one in my lifetime !!
To me it looks as if you have just turned back to piss the driver off, Did you actually see him using the phone whilst he was in motion ?
