@jessynba4 you can switch manually from your amp, but what he did and every musician does is use pedals, there are tons for different tones, im assuming his amp here is set on clean and he is using a distortion or overdrive pedal, id look around on youtube for help videos on it, try looking up the tone king on youtube, or go look on guitarcenter, good luck
