at 4:41 I wonder why Kasparov didn't play Bg5. Doesn't this at least win the exchange? It's amazing how non-materialist the greats like Kasparov can be.
@wafflechip if bg5, he actually would have lost the bishop. Rook takes rook with check on f1, then after the white queen captures the rook, then the black queen captures white's bishop on g5 for free. It would certainly be strange for Garry to miss that if it were a true skewer though!
Don't take this the wrong way, but your commentary would benefit if you have more confidence in what your'e talking about. Maybe write the things down that you want to talk about.
Having said that, I (being a beginner) found your insights useful and you should do more of them! Thanks!
@neil little thought's gone into this, it's half-baked -someone of kingscrusher's calibre can pull off ex tempore annotation, lesser players need to prepare more. I won't thumb it down b/c i like greatsolar & enjoy looking in on his efforts but i'm brutally honest when i comment
Often only friends will tell you what you don't want to hear. Others'll smile to yr face but criticise you behind yr back. I don't mean any disrespect -contrariwise, be disrespectful of me not to leave honest feedback
@AlanWattParrot This video isn't an in depth analysis. This video is me sharing a couple insights I had after reviewing Kasparov's game. I'm assuming that you're rated higher than me. as I grow, I'll be able to provide advice that is more relevant to you, but as far as your comment is concerned, it's the sort of comment a higher rated player without tact would leave on any lower rated player's video. Kasparov could say the same to KC, yet the lesser players learn from him regardless.
yeah i understand the context (the level you're at etc) but i'd never, under any circs, even in jest, mock lower rated players than myself; it's simply not in my nature - and i loathe those who do: as you rightly point out there are always superior players to oneself (unless you belong in the world's elite) - i wdnt sub if i felt that way, i enjoy all chess related vids, but you signally fail to demonstrate WHY he resigned or what he should've played: these fundamental questions are left hanging
@AlanWattParrot Yeah, I don't think you're a bad guy or anything heh. I don't think that getting in depth about why he resigned specifically is quite relevant to this video. I mean, my rybka did analyze the possible defense black had, and the advantage for white with "perfect play" (sic) grows as the game progresses.
@thegreatsolar fair enough, maybe i was too harsh and a bit pompous with it lol - i'm a highly opinionated person although i am conscious of the fact that sitting on my arse taking pot shots at others while not uploading myself might be seen as a bit shabby - but no malice intended, i did mean it constructively tho i can also accept that you felt such things not directly relevant....you make a couple of valid points, i just felt you left it incomplete but yeah ok, point taken. Kind regards Danny
Friend, J Nunn is probably John Nunn, a famous UK Grandmaster.

@AGL23 sounds good. I just wanted to get some thoughts out, it wasn't an intensely prepared lecture. Good idea though

and....er....Nunn resigned because....er...Kasparov's "notorious for holding on to a winning advantage". Wha..? LMAO!
Pisse pauvre.

@AlanWattParrot It's worth talking about if it will improve future videos. I'll add something about it in the description of how black loses.

@thegreatsolar it's entirely your prerogative - thanks for listening and taking the time to reply. Best wishes.
