I got to meet Mike, Ray and many other talented artists. And I have to say that Mike is the most amazing harmonica player I've ever met, and I hope he comes back to Goosebay soon

As far as technical ability, Mike's the best I have heard and one of my favorites players. But saying who the best player in the world is impossible. But to those who say he sucks or blows, why waste your time here? Go listen to Boy George or whoever.

It is nice to hear a version of Orange Blossom which isn't a Charlie McCoy clone (I love you Charlie, but there's only one Real McCoy), and hey, Mike Stevens is wonderful!! This vid showshow two musicians might struggle before they find their common groove, but when hey do, it's thrilling, like "aha!".

I listened to you play at Gindick Jam Camp and must say you have got a ways to go yourself. Your Blues playing is light years behind his Bluegrass harping, Jeremy. When you start hitting and bending OB's like Mike and can keep up with a fiddler without passing out then you will have room to talk about taste.

I really didn't mean to slam Mike Stevens as hard as I did..but there is no way this guy is the "best harmonica player in the world" (as a previous post states). Buddy Greene kicks his (and pretty much every harp players)ass. The way I see it, harmonica players need to stay together and support each other like a family. so I am sorry quinoacat.

You are OK man. I accept your apology and understand where you are coming from better now. I am sorry I got so defensive of Mike. I am more of a fan of Blues harp players like Kim Wilson or Dennis Greunling myself, but I like other styles of harping too. If it is played on a harmonica it catches my ear. Check out Terry McMillan if you ever want to get a kick out of watching a bunch of old church folk rocking out to some good harping.

That is why he is a successful signed artist with many Canadian Bluegrass fans. He makes money at making the noise you seem to despise. I have had people confuse him with Charlie McCoy. You probably have never heard any other harping done by Mike Stevens and you would probably say you did not like Charlie McCoy either.

Buddy Greene is awesome. His harping is NOT the same style as Mike Stevens. I notice many think Mike noodles too much on the Harp because he plays fast Bluegrass and does a bunch of odd sounds. Much of what he plays sounds a bit lacking in direction which classes as noodling but what he plays is fast and complicated and actually has direction which sets it apart. No Mike is NOT Buddy Greene by any stretch of the imagination. Mike is awesome at what he does, bradley4987.
