  • American bombers carried very small bomb loads compared to British bombers.

I've never understood why the yanks flew during the day. Seems silly to me.

  • @paspax There were many reasons to bomb during the day. For one, you can actually hit a target with precision instead of aiming at a whole city, you can also create formations that have coordinated fields of defensive fire. Escort fighters can also be coordinated better. British and Canadian bombers flying night missions also suffered badly taking as many as 10 percent casualties in a single raid which is a very high attrition rate for killing civilians.

  • astonishing

  • Love this show

  • Thank you for the upload, I really enjoyed it. It is just a pity you get people on here that doesn't know or understand a thing about war. They will much rather say bad things to other people, then actually try to learn from the mistakes made by our fathers. If these men ever knew they fought for little idiots like most of you, nobody would of stopped the Nazi's.

  • Kamikaze Nazis, they must have gotten the idea from them in the Pacific. Fanatics killing for maniacs. so sad.. of course the Germans were better at it than the inferior Japs, they thought they could do it and live..jeeese

  • @debzeppeliniv you see, they were trying to stop other people from bombing cities instead of military positions. you know? civilians. :)

  • @debzeppeliniv In Japan, you flew a flying fuel tank into a huge ship made of armor and bristling with guns designed specifically to kill you, plus you had a bunch of bombs strapped on to the plane. In Germany all that was modified was less armament, and you aren't flying head-on into a huge mass of metal.

  • @debzeppeliniv Actually, I think the whole aerial ramming-attack thing started with the Russians on the Eastern front. They were pretty successful, considering, and the Germans copied them. The Russians were certainly crazy and/or ballsy bastards in a fight. It may have certain parallels with kamikazes, but in reality it's a whole different idea. Death isn't the objective. It's just a very dangerous form of attack, rather than mission intent on suicide.

  • i just love history and all its brutality thumbs up if you agree too

  • JEWISH PIGS FROM THE JEWSA!THE SAME JEWS AS THE JEWISH COMMISSARS ON THE EASTERN FRONT!AFTER HAVING KILLED 200 MILLIONS FROM 1917 TO 1993 THEY ARE DESTROYING THE USA AND USE US-SOLDIERS LIKE TRASH FOR ROTHSCHIDS AND ALL THE JEWISH SUB-HUMANS!88!

  • @marzipann777

Still sucking Hitler's shriveled cock, you weak, idiotic, racist pussy?

  • @skeilak Come to the point, if you have one.!88.

  • @marzipann777

I would have thought the point was perfectly clear..?

I must have forgotten that all weak little racist losers, especially those with a childish nazi fetish, are also total morons.

    My bad.

And here I thought "88" stood for "Hitler's Hemorrhoids".

I didn't realize it was your IQ.

  • @skeilak Happy Hannuka, you jew. Your hatred doest bring anything positiv in the world. Christ the Messias has vaiquished about the world and the jewis anachronic world!88!

  • Foolish comment jew.... 88!

  • @marzipann777

As foolish as a silly little clown, sitting in his lonely bedroom, in his mommy's house, whining about Jews on YouTube, when he's not practicing his goosestepping, or soiling his lederhosen, from jerking-off to Hitler?

Did you ever wonder why the kids at school always laughed at you, "Marzi". Or why you're still a virgin?

You think it might be because you're a pathetic little loser? One with a childish nazi fetish, at that.

Now be a good boy, and think about that.

  • @skeilak how old are you jew? Hahahha! Poor comment: only prejudices about the world around you and in your self. Clean your mind jew.88!

  • @marzipannzi777

Oh, "Pannzi"! You are precious! What a goof!

But seriously, what went so wrong in your life, that you actually think it's a good idea to spend all your time on YouTube, spewing your childish prattle, about Jews?

Your parents must be so very proud of their little virgin "stormtrooper"

But at least you serve one purpose: You're one of the few people on Earth, that anyone can feel superior to.

  • @skeilak Hahaha! jewish shoozpah ...pathetical tongue, but nothing else.... what now ugly jew??? What your point liar?! No point.... flat mind, empty soul... 88!

  • @marzipannzi777

Oh dear... It sounds like some little Schweinhund woke up on the wrong side of the bunker, today!

Did you rub your little wee-wee bloody, again, looking at naked pictures of Hermann Göring? Gazing at that fat nazi ass, dreaming of spreading those flabby cheeks, and getting your tongue up there, to dig for tasty golden nuggets?

Poor, sad little Pannzi... Your shabby, useless life is all the Jew's fault, isn't it?

  • Every time they say "American fighters", do they mean British fighters?

  • @PRARRCGriffon26 the difference is that the dead peoples "fighting" for JewSA land as trash; But brits have cemetrys.88!

  • every nation that seems to loose the war tries strange things to win the war. If I think of pilots that were 19 years old and think about the 26-years old son of a collegue who calls my colllegue everytime on the phone when he has a fart in his ass. He alway thinks his mother would lay down the work, drive at home to cook him a tea!

  • lol at 1:20 the gujys is like wwooooooowwww wtf

  • this is a bad idea because if they hade escorts they would have benn shoting at them and they are ramming the bombers. the fighters would have gone fast

  • @superhornet30 But if the German fighters are in the formation of bombers, the escorts can't fire, afraid that they'll hit any of their allies.

  • @speedenforcer918 i didn't put it that way.but thats correct because they could end up hitting there friendly

  • gee, wouldn't they have accomplished more just by opening fire the regular way?

at least then you can hit more than one plane

this kamikaze way, they could each only hope to get just one

  • @manofsan They could, but that would be normal. With doing this, the Germans showed the Allies how much they would give to defend their country, hoping that the enemy will say "ok, we wont fitght, the germans are crazy, we cant win this"

  • @andromedarr your right. there like a kamkise pilots

  • so can we call it kamikaze????

  • I say these are more courageous men than Kamikaze pilots. Sacrificing one's life is one thing. But having the courage to do a dangerous mission, then to fight or live another day is much braver.

  • I thought only japanese used kamikaze.

  • @chevymandd123 German and bulgarian pilots did the same thing, like the japanese.

  • @chevymandd123 Nope..Germans .april 45.just the once.

  • Dammit...its a shame these guys were on the wrong side of the war. I think the thing that really show what kind of balls these guys had is that they expected to SURVIVE. They weren't suicidal like those Japanese tards...these guys just had massive, huge, brazen balls.

  • Massive, 100-pound titanium balls on these WARRIORS! I can't even begin to imagine what was going through their minds as they closed with these bombers at 400+ MPH...

I'll bet that commander was well-loved by his men. I wonder if he actually led the charge?

  • Massive, ten-pound titanium balls on these WARRIORS. Unreal! I can't imagine what they were thinking as they closed in on those bombers at 400+ MPH...

  • @dgareea31swtg You said that twice...

  • These old german pilots have my full respect. In new times it´s worse when aa 20 year old man has to pick up something ..........

  • Comment removed

  • WE GET IT ALREADY NARRATOR, YOU DON'T HAVE TO SAY UNTHINKABLE SO MANY TIMES

  • These german old men have (had) some massive balls

  • @skidderable it was strategic bombing... they were bombing munitions depots, factories, intelligence centers, etc... not just carpeting germany

  • Bombing civilians is the wrechted action of a bloody coward, despite which nation bombs or gets bombed.

Especially if you take into consideration, that those bombings had almost no other effect than strengthening the moral of the bombed populations, making them support their government even more. All those kills, fights and sacrifices were completely useless, over Britain as well as over Germany.

  • @Skidderable Sorry, but this is just not true. What would you've done as an allied commander?

  • @historystartsnow youtube increased the time limit to 15mn so you can shove more into 1 video

  • @Kionsuu really? I tought that we had to have a "Director" account since 2006 to be able to do that...

  • @bf2lover42 i didnt do it, youtube increased it for every one =P

  • my grandfather flew 36 missions over germany in a B24, greatest man i ever knew

  • at least they showed some of it from the german's perspective this time

  • The Germans learned the ramming technique from the Russians. Russian attack aircraft often tried this surprise maneuvre against German fighters. Since the Russian attack airplanes often had armored wings and were incredibly sturdy the German lighter fighter often was disabled. Even in World War One Russian pilots equiped some of their planes with rods which they used to rip of the wingfs of German fighters with.

  • used to love this show now it rarely comes on any more and when it does it's reruns.

  • Is Heinrich Henkel somewhat related to Emst Heinkel?

  • Mission Rammkommando Elbe am 7. April 1945:

Despair... and hope that the allied bomber crews will refuse to fly to Germany. Last attempts to remove the allied bombers over Germany.

My dad was a german paratrooper, and he asked (1944) german fighter pilots why they not attack the enemy bombers... The answer was: We has no order, because we must save the gasoline...

  • It is actually kinda cute [in a weird way] how after an amazing pilot who did an incredible feat and SURVIVED it, they have to add a part about screaming airmen falling to their doom.

  • I'm glad the Germans are our allies now. Took 50 years to get them on our side and alot of dead soldiers.. sailors and airmen

  • Being in a bomber crew in WW2 was practically suicide until air supremecy was gained.

  • This is what always fascinated me about war; how can men DO these things? Stand and face the machine gun bullets, or shoot another man at point-blank range. Human psychology is just amazing, what it can and can't do.

  • @justforever96 because they have do.They dont shoot first, they'll never see mothers, girlfriends, wives, children ever again.Kill or be killed

  • @bob75ify- Well, that's just the obvious part. I mean, why sign up in the first place? Why not hide behind a tree? How can you sacrifice yourself to save your pals? How can a hundred men fight until the last man and not just surrender? How can a German soldier standing guard on the Eastern Front stand until he freezes to death? Or US soldiers attack shoulder-to-shoulder in the Civil war, being SLAUGHTERED until they take 75%(!) casualties? HOW do they DO it? It's not the same as reading it.

  • @bob75ify- Part 2. And that's just part of it...they found that in the Civil War, lot's of the guys stood their being killed, but still FIRED INTO THE AIR, rather than "murder" another human. They began training US soldiers to KILL after WWII, because they found that on average ALL BUT 15% fired into the air! They were there, taking the same risks, but didn't kill, while others gloried in it. It's actually pretty rare in modern warfare to be in a situation where it's "kill or be killed".

  • @bob75ify- Part3(whew!)- No, it's not the fact that they can kill others that is surprising. Killing is easy, once you get used to it. Many veterans will say so. But the RISK of getting killed, you never "get used" to it. Your mind can learn to DEAL with it (usually causing permanent damage as well), but you don't ever get used to it. But killing becomes like smoking a cigarette. It's these contradictions that fascinate me, how you can risk death, or kill casually, or just stand under fire.

  • @bob75ify- PS- I was just thinking about it, and the number of US soldiers who fired into the air instead of at the enemy MAY be 15% who DIDN'T fire, rather than 15% who DID. I thought it was only 15% who fired at the enemy, but that somehow seems wrong...it would be hard to win if only 15% of the troops were trying to hit the enemy, unless the enemy troops were doing the same. (Which is quite possible.) But a guy will shoot to kill if his UNIT is in danger, even if he isn't at immediate risk.

  • They did that because if they didnt they would never see their mothers, girlfriends, children, wives ever again. Kill or be killed

  • @justforever96 They can do it because humans are bastards :|

  • @DarkWarrior450 No, they did it because their families and freinds and former friends and collegues were dying in the places the Americans and British were bombing. When a mans familiy and country are being slowly destroyed, what one will do to save them IS outstanding.

  • @justforever96 They have a belief that they are fighting for something.Aint nothing surprising bout fighting for something you belivie in.Many ppl would even kill for family members.

I would kill for my country or family.

It's when u love something enuff youll do anything for it.

  • @naaruu111 Yes, but would you die? The psychological device that enables a human to overcome it's natural fear of death or injury for the sake of a simple conscious "belief" is what amazes me. Generally, natural instincts are far stronger than conscious thought. Try not blinking when someone throws something at your face by willing not to blink! Besides, I think that of all the millions who go to war, there are far more reasons people go and fight, and to overcome fear than simple "belief".

  • @justforever96 If you had to fight for your country, would you? This meant facing those machine gun rounds flying at you, killing to defend yourself, your friends, and your country, it also meant that you had to do things like this and what the Japs did. They were desperate.

  • @MrJp990 I couldn't say for sure. If fighting for my country meant stopping those who were trying to kill my fellow citizens and family, yes, I think I would. If fighting for my country meant going to South East Asia to stop communism, or to the Middle East to "defend my country from terrorists", no, probably not. If it was life or death for the country as a whole, or for my neighbors, that would be worth the price.

  • i hate the seeing the Luftwaffe being so desperate and helpless.

  • no i am not, I'm just very passionate about aviation. Right now I'm just addicted to the Luftwaffe. FYI I'm a Chinese-Canadian.

  • I am Canadian.I love aviation to.

  • In Canada being Canadian is not race based. You could have just said you were Canadian.

  • I agree, though I think there is something fascinating about the Luftwaffes desperation

  • Those men were very brave to fly to their deaths.. What a futile mission.

  • more dogfighs videos

  • Sure, I'm working on it
