My guess is it's a tribute to Steinman. If you look through some photos, tracks and history of Meat & Jim you see he turns up portrayed like the 3rd-wheel lover. Those who think that Marion's voice is not right for it, I give you this... When coupled with the video, and the fact that this whole duet takes place in his memories, it is perfect.

Meatload has his normal, powerful, voice, and she has the younger "sounding" voice that he remembers of long ago.

This is a great song. While I like Celine's version, this one has more emotion.
