  • dont get me wrong, a high school in key biscyane itself would be an improvement... but there is just simply no space to build a school that would shelter almost 1000 students. so location is a factor. People would be paying higher taxes. so funding is another factor. There are only two main streets in key biscayne , so traffic is another factor. the only way would be to take some area from the public park by the lighthouse but i dont think they would allow it

  • Proposed school would build up to a maximun capacity of 400 students over 5 to 6 years. Not 1,000. Traffic should not be an issue as these students commute off the island every day and use some sort of vehicle transportation which will not be needed to attend a local school a few minutes walking or biking distance from any home within Key Biscayne.

  • i dont think there is space for another school? where woud you build it and if so how much area would it cover?

  • There is not another school in the Village of Key Biscayne. There are few locations where a 25,000 sq. ft. multi-purpose building can house the school an lifelong learning center . It is a matter of how our community establishes priorities. Is it acceptable for a community of our size and makeup not to have a high school? I don't know of any other community of our size without a high school. Perhaps KB is very exclusive to the extend of excluding our youth from affairs of the community .
