I must have have gotten lucky? All mine are gorgeous, and with a tweak or two, bridge tweak, neck twea k, string height tweak, I am still in shock that a vintage , large headstock, 50's style Strat...the look, finish, and playability are rare in discounted axes! Hey, each and every piece screams FENDER. My studio wall is very, pinkies ...

  • 16:05 READYMADE READYMADE!!

  • On the early Strats with the 3 position selector pick up switch, Clapton used you wedge a bit of matchstick to wedge the switch in the now 2nd position to get the out of phase sound.

  • Thanks to Rob Champus for such brilliant playing. I just bought this guitar yesterday but if I had not heard what Rob did with it I would never have bought it. Been playing for over 40 years and this is an unbelievably sweet guitar and an absolute steal for the money. It is truly an amazing Guitar. Thanks for the great demo guys! You convinced me to buy one!! Thanks again, Steve!

  • Hey Chappers/ Lee. Do you or can you guys deliver to India too?? =(

  • Umm, why is in the left down corner a bottle of Jack Daniels?(rock on.)

  • what's the pedal used for the telecaster at the beggining?

  • Didn't know Ricky Gervais played guitar.

  • I"ve heard several vintage vibes and a few actual 50's pine tele's played and find the tone as good if not superior in some selections to ash or alder. The pine gets a bad rep for being so common and inexpensive but it is very porous and seems to resonate tone very well consistently. The body and tone woods are only a fraction of the sound process but a very important part.

  • They call it an ash tray cover because the early teles had a bridge cover and giging musicians used to take the cover off and use it as an ashtray..Don'y make stuff up captain!

  • they call it an ashtray cover because they used to come with a cover for the bridge that was used as an ashtray by the giging musician not becaus ethe bridge looks like an ashtray! Shame on you captain! Do your homework!

  • they're both gorgeous (the guitars and you guys ;))

  • There always so happy lol :D

  • These guys are brilliant. They need to take their act on the road (maybe reinvent vaudeville). I watch my Britcoms on my TV and get more Brit fun by visiting Andertons.

Greetings from an Anglophile in Memphis, Tennessee

  • Steve winwood occasionally plays a squire;)

  • As soon as my paycheck rolls in I'm buying a Telecaster, been thinking about it for a while but this video convinced me now :D

  • @MilitantOldLady Check out some online guitar stores... but how can you not like a black plate on that Telecaster??? :O

  • pine? LOL

  • Hey, I was thinking about buying this thing and loading it with some DiMarzio love \m/ Especially Twang King for neck, and Chopper T for bridge. What do You think of that combination? Would it have enough low-end to play something heavy-ish along with bluesy-type tunes?

  • Where can you get white or cream Tele plates? I'd buy the guitar but i dont like the black plate :P

  • la telecaster suena bien y ustedes son graciosos me hacen reir jajajaja

  • Jack Daniels?!

  • Aw man you should have played Voodoo Child ( Slight Return)

  • 04:47, Do you have a lesson video up for that riff Chappers? I'd love to learn it. Keep up the great work mate. ;)

  • want a tele now :|

  • lol u think their drunk because their is a nearly empty bottle of jack on the amp :L nice guitars tho

  • I have owned a '57 fiesta red strat for years now, but won't gig it! I played this squier instore just days ago and was amazed at how good it felt, so gonna buy one and fit some better pups, the CV pups are a lil bit harsh for me, but kinmans would be brilliant! The strat as a player is truly awesome! Can't believe the low price! Now I 'can' gig a fiesta red strat! :)

  • I don't understand. I thought Fender was an American company. What are the British doing with these? Just kiddin'. Nice vid. You guys look like you are WAY to happy to be at work.

A tele is completely honest in it's reproduction of the player. My CV has been set up and I have no problems with intonation.

  • cost of living in UK is completely out of whack compared to north America... usa, canada...

  • As far as an octavia goes, I haven't used the Dunlop one but, I thought that the octavia effect on the Jimi pedal was really weak, the worst effect on it. I personally have the Voodoo Lab Proctavia. It is a really nice pedal. It costs 129 new but, I got it for 75 used. It is supposed to be the same circuit that was in the Tycobrahe octavia that Jimi used back in the day. Any crybaby will do but, the 535Q was the first one I had and it is great. You can adjust it to get a number of wah sounds.

  • ok thanks for the advice m8 and i believe Stevie Ray Vaughan used the same pedals as jimi to get the voodoo child sound

  • @shredmaster100 No problem. Stevie used the same style vintage Vox wah that Jimi used and, he also used a vintage Tycobrahe octavia like Jimi. In the beginning of his recording career Stevie didn't use a fuzz pedal. He just cranked his amp and used a TS. In the late 80's, he started using reissue Dunlop fuzz faces but they were too unreliable. He then got a Diaz Texas Square Face Fuzz, which he used until he died. They are like 225 $ new.

  • @shredmaster100 You may have a problem getting pedals on eBay if you are in Australia? Must cost a lot to ship them from other continents. I have heard you guys get raped on the price of guitars and equipment. Vintage equipment is going to cost a lot regardless. A vintage Vox wah is like 500 $ at the very least.

  • no im not from oz im from the uk but vintage equipment here is alot because we have 20% tax on everything at the moment thanks to the conservative govt only 3 years ago the tax was 15% so it is a big increase and thats why i would advise anyone thinking of coming to live in the uk to think twice

  • @shredmaster100 You don't need vintage gear. Just get good modern pedals or reissues of the vintage you want and you'll be set. Most of the tone comes from your hands anyways. A decent amp, decent guitar, and decent pedals and you should be able to get a good tone.

  • ok cheers for the advice m8

  • @bbnatedogg that is the truth...you don't need to get sucked into the "GAS" (Gear acquisition syndrome) syndrome!

  • @keithsa41 I already have really! I always want more gear but, I am good about holding off for awhile until I save up money. You just cannot let it take you over and bankrupt you!

  • 273 pounds for a Squier? Really? Why wouldn't you just get a Mexi Fender???????????

  • i got the chance to play a classic vibe tele. it was sooooo goood

  • yeeaaaaah! have been staring at that jack daniels bottle all video xD

  • that trivia is not useless, good to know fellas.

  • Reef!!! 9:05

  • Your video is popular on Luanda

  • nice telecaster, but... you can play some rock n roll to take the spirit of this kind guitar :)

  • gimme the jack daniels. guitars stay with you.

  • Is it just me, or Tele sounds really better than Strat? Or it's just Chappers puts more heart into playing Tele, cause he likes it more :D Can't wait for Tele-shaped Ml-3 by the way \m/

  • @TheMasterLuk Tele>Strat

  • @TheMasterLuk if a guitar motivates you to play, you are gonna sound better...

  • Hey Rob, the blonde finish comes with alnico 3 pickups where the butterscotch comes with alnico 4 pickups, have you tried both, whats your take on the differences?

  • What an amazing guitar, part of its down to how good your amp is, but beautiful looking guitar

  • id have to say both the Classic Vibe Strat

and Telecaster are the best investments ive made

  • No sweepover happened.

  • Great video! Thinking of getting the Tele and putting a P90 in the neck, or two in at both pos.

  • You Brits are some funny dudes! (thats a good thing)

  • Great review, guys! Oh, and amazing chops you've got there!! Good to see I'm not the only believer in these Squier guitars of the Classic Vibe series. Fell strait in Love with mine! Ha

You funny Brits are a Crackup to watch!!!

    Love...

  • Wow i didnt know Squier made "good" sounding guitars

  • every riff is better after a bottle of Jack's

  • 12:40 lol xp bass line and sex made of wood hahahaha

  • how much could i get the tele for in a guitar shop right now in dollars? :p

  • Anyone notice the bottle of jack Daniels?

  • John Mayer haha

  • steve rothery plays a squier strat guitar. i hope to be getting a cv butterscotch tele on 12th jan.cannot wait :-D

  • @racefaceec90 Very nice. Rothery & your CV Tele

  • dont trust this demo of these guitars because have u seen the size of the amp thier using and they probably have a full metal board i myself think only wankers and people who cant play guitar use pedal boards look at roy buchanon he just plugs the tele into his fender amp and was amazing players today need to learn how to play properly instead of this 200notes a second rubbish theres no emotion in it

  • @shredmaster100 Dave Gilmour must be "wanker who can't play" then.

  • gilmour only used a fuzz pedal and wah wah pedal in the 70,s and it was his wem valve amps that got him the sound its just todays amps are crap they are all made for metal and not for rock music and try finding an old wem head or cab its impossible hendrix also used these amps at the isle of wight along with the who and also jimmy page used them live as well try playing without 100,s of pedals sounds much more natural and not fake

  • @shredmaster100 There are "vintage" amps out there that aren't aimed at metal. I think on the whole, manufacturers make what people want to buy. Most hobby players aren't going to be able to crank an old 70's amp.

  • yeah i know nowadays its all about players like slash steve vai or yngwie malmsteen really not my sort of music i do like metallica but i think they have become very mainsteam compared to their early work like master of puppets and the justice albulm i mainly like the older players such as page clapton hendrix gilmour beck kossoff townshend blackmore and a player ive recently seen is steve howe he is a genius of the instrument

  • @shredmaster100 I'm sorry, but that coming from someone with a name like 'shredmaster'. Wow. Saying only wankers and people who can't play use pedals is extremely stupid. Look at, for example, Jack White. Uses pedals all the time, but still one of the best guitarists of all time. Most of the best guitarists outside of blues-rock use pedals. Don't be narrow-minded.

  • ha ha ha jack white i hope your joking man the guy cant play lead i mean you couldnt compare him to jimmy page or eric clapton and he gets technically blown away by players like jason becker or marty friedman let me guess your favourite show is x factor and your 15 right ha ha lol and dont forget david gilmour gary moore and rory gallagher

  • @shredmaster100 You're retarded. He can't play lead? He is lead. There is no rhythm guitar in The White Stripes. Technically, he is great. He's been ranked high on most lists of best guitarists. You can't deny he's good.

You know, they say young people are all dickheads, but I guess you must have taught a few, 'cause you're a prime one. I'm not some kid who likes the X Factor, otherwise I wouldn't like Jack White. You're retarded, and a knob. Got to be expected from a shred guitarist.

  • jason becker was a million times greater and got no mention in the rolling stone poll jack white would have to be a million years old to do the stuf jason did on guitar but i guess you dont play a guitar so u dont know what youre talking about how can you know whos better if youve never touched a guitar nooob

  • @shredmaster100 Ask yourself why he's not been mentioned on just about any top lists then, when Jack White has? And better than jason becker does not a good guitarist make.

I don't play guitar? What am I doing here then? You're just thinking up worse and worse arguments now, ridiculous ones, because you can't think of a decent one to back up your comment. Face it.

  • the rolling stone poll was more of a popularity contest m8 i mean jack white is a good songwriter but he is not as technical on guitar as jimmy page clapton or any of the shred guitarists such as becker so i do think one day they should do a technical poll it would be interseting to see whos there number 1

  • @shredmaster100 Except that he is technically proficient. Yes, he might not be the best, but he's better than most guitarists, so you can't say he's bad, and you can't say only terrible guitarists use pedals.

  • rory gallagher or stevie ray vaughan used 1 or 2 pedals at most and they are both legends

  • @shredmaster100 Exactly.

  • @shredmaster100 have you seen either of those guitarists pedal boards? theyre pretty extensive...

  • in my opinion if youve got a good enough guitar and amp you dont need many pedals at all my guitar tutor said this he played his strat straight into my marshall 50 watt amp and it sounds great you do need pedals if you have a cheap amp though and slash only uses a wah pedal he says in an interview he just plugs his les paul straight into the amp and another problem with pedals is unless u buy expensive ones the cheap ones sound crap

  • @shredmaster100 Depends what you mean by "cheap pedals." There are tons of great sounding pedals for 100 dollars and less. If you're talking about 25 dollar Behringer pedals then I agree but, a lot of people think those are fine as well. Also, if you're smart and know how to look you can find lots of used pedals on eBay for like 30-50 % off of the new price that will last you for years and sound just as good as a new one.

  • @shredmaster100 The pedals on my board range from like 45 to 180 dollars. I got 2/3's of them used. A more expensive pedal is not always going to sound better than a cheaper one. Some cheap pedals are great and some expensive ones suck, at least many are no better than ones that are much less. The best thing to do IMO is to listen to a bunch of pedals for a particular effect you want on youtube to narrow it down and then go and try them out at your local music store.

  • @shredmaster100 Actually, Stevie used at least 4 at the end of his life. A TS, Vox wah, a Diaz Texas Square Face Fuzz, and an octavia pedal. He also used a Leslie cabinet for most of his major label career, which many pedals will recreate for much less than the price and hassle of a Leslie cabinet. I get your point but, using pedals doesn't mean that you suck. You shouldn't need pedals to sound good but, they can greatly enhance your sound if you use them right.

  • whats really pissed me off today is the 1 pedal i did want to buy has been taken off sale the digitech jimi hendrix pedal that is a great pedal if u want to get hendrix,s tone without having to buy the vintage pedals like the fuzz faze octavia or vox wah pedals i contacted digitech and they say they have lost the contract with jimi,s family so thats not good at all

  • @shredmaster100 I guarantee you can find one on eBay! I used to have one, the very first pedal I ever bought. It is a decent pedal and does a lot of things for the money but, it just does a reasonable facsimile of various Jimi tones. I have since gotten other pedals that give me the same effects but with a much better tone, albeit for more money. The pedal seemed to make a lot of noise and the fuzz modeling wasn't very good IMO.

  • @shredmaster100 I am not saying that you shouldn't get one but, if you get a fuzz, wah, and Univibe type pedal you will be able to get almost all of the effects that the Jimi pedal does, except for octavia, with a better tone and more flexibility. Actually, Visual Sound makes an angry fuzz pedal that lets you use the fuzz and octave up features together or separately. I think it's better to build up your effects one at a time, if money is the issue.

  • @shredmaster100 Pedals that do more than 3 or so effects generally aren't that great at any of the effects. Jack of all trades, master of none. Ask your guitar teacher. I am sure he has an opinion about it. I ended up selling the Jimi pedal after I got other pedals to replace it. It is decent if you just want to get one pedal and call it a day. Just don't expect any of the tones to floor you if you have heard the real deal. They were 200 new and I wouldn't spend more than 150

  • ive seen the reissues of the fuzz face pedal and octavis pedal for 100 each are they any better at replicating the real sound

  • @shredmaster100 Definitely better than the Digitech Jimi pedal IMO. The regular fuzz face is like 100 and they have a Jimi signature one for like 150. The only difference is that the Jimi one uses a silicon transistor and the reg fuzz face uses a germanium one. Jimi used a germanium fuzz earlier in his career and a silicon one later, like on the Fillmore East album. It's up to you which one you like better. IMO there isn't a huge difference. Both pedals only take batteries though

  • @shredmaster100 You're not going to get the same sound on the Digitech Jimi pedal that you would get from the vintage pedals he used or reissues of those pedals. Just a digital emulation. I spent like 200 for the Jimi pedal new and replaced it with a Dunlop 535Q crybaby, Diaz Texas Square, and Dunlop Rotovibe, all used, for about 320-330 $ and they sound much better. Realize if you buy the Digitech Jimi pedal that you need a special power adapter to run it.

  • Whan song is it between 4:46 and 5:04? I really wanna learn it!

  • By that i mean im getting this for christmas

  • Yay christmas tele time

  • how much does some sandpaper and a fender sticker cost?

  • 4:46 to 5:04 = :O

  • @SpaccaGuitar96 such a cool riff

  • @SpaccaGuitar96 What song is this?? I really wanna learn it!

  • Hi! Guys, It's called and ashtray because it originally had a cover that people removed and used as an ashtray. I know because I'm old.

    Spud

  • @gjtblackmore Without trying to put you right ,can i add that it was the old covers on strat and tele bridges that were the ashtray bit ,cus they allways fell off and would never stay on and were only of any use as an ?????ashtray. But good comment any ways, merry christmas.

  • @spudgun05 Yer Man! You're exactly right. Those damn covers were a pain.

    Cheers for your comment.

  • @gjtblackmore No one would remove the bridge from a guitar just to ash in. That's ridiculous.

  • @havok667 @blackmore56 I've replied to this several times with no success. Please read my comment. Or maybe I should be more specific. Old Strats and Teles had dodgy ridge covers that kept falling off so people just left them off. SO to put them to good use they'd use them as an ashtray. I know, I lived it back in the 70's. Yes removing te bridge to ash in would be ridiculous. Thanks all the same.

  • What is the difference between the Classic Vibe 50's vs Classic Vibe 60's, apart from the neck?

  • I liked Flip-Flop suicide better LOLZ

  • im getting that guitar for xmas but in blue

  • I love listening to this guy play, I think he is Bob Marleys love child?

  • nice review guys, enjoyed every second of it.you should have your own tv show, haha.anyway,i like the sound of the strat better.

    i have the CV 60's strat,CV telecaster custom,they both nice,but i prefer the strat since it's 1pcs alder (maybe i just lucky)

  • getting the 50s strat!

  • @666MattsGuitar666 get the telecaster dude,i found the tele better than the strat,if you like the strat more get it as you won't use the trem hardly....It doesn't stay in tune very well if you are using it often.Anyways...both are great guitars...but it's your choice

  • Whats the song at 4:50 called?

  • Chili pepper machine

  • they actually just convinced me to buy one of those strats lol

  • 16:04 WAS THAT READYMADE BY THE RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS!!!??

  • damn.

  • What's the difference between these guitars and the MIM Fender standard?? The CV even comes with better pickups and the strat is made with the same wood!

  • @maufonseca17 The logo

  • @Musicmanuk94 That's what I think, but people keep telling me that MIM are better because... It's not chinese. I've been wanting a Tele about a year now. The problem is that I live in Costa Rica and we don't have any good store, not even one...

  • Responder a este vídeo... ...Today I saw that the store that distributes Fender brought some new guitars, but the options for MIM teles are standard for $700 and what I think is a Baja for $950. So I don't know if it's worth to buy one of this squiers this christmas, it would cost $421 once here, or to save some more and buy the standard for $700.

  • @OakPark11MileRd In Australia it costs $530 :(
